Haven't been able to login in more than a year because I can't receive the sms or call when they ask for confirmation code. I have informed support multiple times and they haven't done anything. What a terrible company that cannot do the only thing they were supposed to be good at.

Difficult Compliance Process and NO Support

I selected Twilio because of its reputation, but the onboarding and compliance process has been extremely frustrating for a small business.

I formed my LLC, obtained an EIN, upgraded my account, purchased a phone number, funded the account, completed identity verification, and submitted the required business documentation. Despite following the instructions exactly, I encountered repeated A2P registration and brand verification issues with very little guidance on what was actually wrong.

The most frustrating part is the lack of accessible support. I found myself navigating multiple registration systems, compliance forms, and verification steps while trying to launch my product, only to be blocked by vague error messages and no response from support.

The onboarding experience for my businesses has been unnecessarily complicated and has delayed my ability to test and launch my product.

If this issue is not resolved, I will be forced to migrate to a different provider and incur additional development costs to replace functionality that has already been implemented.

Avoid at ALL costs

Lesson learned, always check Trustpilot PRIOR to doing business with a company. Twilio is terrible from product to service and support. Lousy stay away.

Unable to even activate an account.

Well, one week after setting up an account, I am still not activated. I got an email from support asking me to verify my company details. I sent way more than they asked. The next day, I got another message, saying thank you for the messsge, but could you just clarify XYZ. The same details. So I sent again. Two days later. Same email. Not a very good start. Run a mile.

Insane to demand you to buy a phone number to send SMS

I had to make an automation service that sends me a SMS. They charge a low fee pr. SMS but to be able to send SMS using their service I had to buy a phone number 15$ / month - then I lost 20$ the minimum fund amount. Use alternatives like MessageBird if you need to send SMS cheaply in your application.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

I will never in my entire life recommend this awful company. I have never in my life seen a company that CHARGES you to speak to a customer support person. Even over chat. When you do finally hear from someone (27 years later) it's so clearly auto generated that it's useless. Absolutely the worst online company I have ever had the displeasure of working with.

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service. The site kept locking me out and getting help is like jumping through 14 different hoops.. they continually ask for the same information I've already given in the thread. They're asking for payment for an account I'm not even able to use or log into, and has taken me weeks to try and cancel. Do not sign up. You feel like you're stuck forever.

Horrible provider, nightmarish experience

Looking at the reviews, I am not surprised in the slightest. Our experience with this company was nothing short of a complete disaster. The product itself was disappointing, but what truly stood out was the shockingly poor level of customer support and account management.

There appears to be no clear or professional onboarding or account activation process in place. Our account was blocked without any valid explanation, justification, or evidence of wrongdoing. Even more concerning, it took several days for them to respond, only to inform us that the account could not be reactivated. No meaningful reason was provided, no transparency was offered, and no attempt was made to resolve the issue.

For a company operating in this space, this level of incompetence, lack of communication, and disregard for customers is unacceptable. If you are looking for a reliable, professional provider that can support your business before, during, and after the sale, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company under any circumstances.

Customer service was terrible

Customer service was terrible, extremely slow or no replies. My account had fraudulent sends and I was not reimbursed fully for the cost, and it took 4-5months for the investigation. The pricing is extortionate. I have moved to a new company and already within 5 weeks saved myself over $6000, while Increasing my sms sends.

Impossible verification

The a2p10dlc verification they require is near to impossible, they dont help at all even after doing what they request, it just fails over and over, if you can go to another company, save the hustle and do it.

Would put zero stars if I could

Would put zero stars if I could.

Signed up. Put in $20 of credit. Unable to sign up for a phone number due to a glitch in their system giving me error and not being able to complete the signup.

Contact support. Wait 2-3 weeks. Nothing. Try to login again. Still getting same errors trying to finish the registration.

Wait another 2 weeks. Support finally reaches out and says they can't see any of the original info I submitted. and want me to resend it all.

Log back in to get back to the error. The compliance doc that was errored now shows approved. The number I had reserved is now sold to someone else and I can't get another one in the same area code for some reason.

On top of that it looks like they signed me up for a number out of the USA that I didn't sign up for. Looks like I have been getting billed for either this number that they signed me up for or for the pending number that I was unable to get due to their terrible system.

Asking for a refund. I wouldn't touch these guys with a 10ft pole again.

Why isn't there a 0 star

Why isn't there a 0 star. TL;DR PLEASE DON'T DO IT. I have never in my 30 years in IT had a worse experience. I was trying to simply setup a text number for sending notifications for emergent home automation alerts, from a virtual sms number to my own cell phone (what could be simpler). Instead I got involved in some never ending "campaign" and so much damn tomfoolery that I can say I have never been so frustrated in my life. I get that this is regulated and I don't mind jumping through a few hoops but when those hoops are impossible to jump through then why even offer the service. I wouldn't recommend you spend any time with Twilio, your money evaporates you end up with absolutely no service and unless you pay for support you can't even get any level of support or help, not that it probably would be beneficial anyhow. I mean when it comes to bad service models Twilio has that piece covered cold.

Horrible UI/UX

Horrible UI/UX. Even worse communication. I've wasted a month attempting to create a text campaign for my app to communicate to my customers (no spamming texts). I've never had so much trouble. Their X account responds, but with generic BS. DO NOT USE Twilio.

Horrible

Their product sucks!!! I don't know which genius tech thought to block short messages on an online number. I CAN NOT receive any OTP messages at all. I CAN NOT verify anything linked to that number. I tried to call them but no… You have to be a premium customer so they’d answer your phone call. A sh*tty service with sh*tty customer service. Shame on you!

Use a different service

The process to get your client and campaign set up is very disconnected. They won't allow you to talk to someone live unless you pay them $250/month for an upgraded service contract. They take weeks and don't update you unless you navigate their maze of a site and open a ticket. Even then, their AI chat was telling me I don't have a high enough service contract to communicate with them. They then respond a couple of days later to tell repeat the status of campaign.
