NOT Customer Service based! NOT TRUST WORTHY

For starters 2 minutes before I was supposed to be picking up my truck they called and told me it wasn't going to be at a different location. The location was a good 20 minutes South of the original location .I only chose that location because I had a friend heading to work that day that would be available to drop me off. Let me tell you , all my planning went right out the window . I
ended up sitting at my friend's work for a bit until I could figure out a different plan. I had to drive her car to pick another friend and drop her car back off to get a d take mine to pick up the truck that was way out of the way . After all of that 2hours later , Im asked to take pictures of the vehicle and do all this extra work , which I didn't have to e for
I had people waiting at my place to help me and I was hours out now. I was told if I went to this specific UHaul I would be reimbursed that night for my deposit . When I arrived the directions asked to watch a YouTube video and told to down load their app ECT, ECT.! Are you kidding me ! UHaul has went to right down the tube ! Who has the en6or the time for all this ? Anyhow they still have not reimbursed me my deposit weeks later and I'm still getting the runaround ! FIND ANOTHER PLACE, UHAIL IS NOT TO TRUSTED! I used them in the past and they were great , now they have came up with a million different ways to keep your money ! Even if they owe you , FLAT OUT, THEY DO NOT REIMBURSE YOU! THEY are MONEY HUNGRY AND DO.NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!

A zero would be prefered

A zero would be prefered. The location that i booked to drop my rental trailer off at no longer exists. It’s still on the app. The guy at the store where i picked up the trailer confirmed my drop off location. But it doesn’t exist. Now i have to go several hours out of my way to return the trailer. I never would have rented it if i knew this was the case.

If I could only give zero stars

If I could only give zero stars! I reserved a 26' u-haul online for a 4-day weekend move of a six-bedroom home (in the same town) in two months. The website informed me that size of vehicle couldn't be reserved online and someone would call to schedule and confirm a truck. The customer service rep who called told me that a truck would not be available to schedule in my location until the day before, if at all (only if one happened to come in one way). I asked if I could reserve that size truck in another city in Colorado. The answer was no - no matter what city, or in any location at all in Colorado. What about a different size truck? Nope, cannot reserve any size truck at all for a weekend move. What about reserving for 4 months from now? Answer is no. Essentially, for anything larger than a 9' cargo van, reservations can't be confirmed. Nobody who's moving can wait until the day before to find out if "maybe" something might be available to rent on the other side of the state. Uhaul used to be a great, reliable company. Now it is just a joke!

Poor customer service

Had a truck reserved for two months. The day of got a call that no trucks were available. How is this a way to run a business? If I could give it a zero I would.

Had a nightmare experience with Uhaul

Had a nightmare experience with Uhaul! I reserved for a Sunday pickup/dropoff in Pottstown…Uhaul changed my reservation for pick up Saturday in Harleysville with a dropoff Sunday. They charged my credit card without my permission and allowed someone else to pick up the truck on Saturday. Still waiting for the district manager to call me to explain what happened and give me a refund. My original reservation apparently doesn’t exist and they offered to schedule me a new reservation, as if I would want to rent a truck from them after this fiasco! Not to mention, what kind of company would even make me pay for a new reservation! Extremely POOR customer service! I DO NOT Recommend! Rent from PENSKE instead

Junk company!

Went to rent a truck and trailer as it was an option on the website. Called the store and spoke to a lady, set up a rental agreement for the following day. Just received a call from a male stating that they do not rent a truck and trailer together and that no one in his store would agree to that. So you're going against what was an option on your own company website then essentially calling me a liar. Poor customer service and doesn't even follow their own company policy as listed on the corporate website. Junk company.

Money Hungry, they don’t care about you!!

For only being 24, I have used Uhaul an exceptional amount of times. For the most part always great experiences.

This time, I am getting out of a domestic violence situation & was homeless for over 14 days. With that said, the uhauls filled with all of my belongings were stuck… it has been one of the most difficult situations of my life. Facing homelessness, losing my partner, caring for my children, all while dealing with the courts, fees, and left to clean up the rest of the mess.

I am NOT one to ever share my story or ask for handouts. Due to having to keep the Uhauls with all my children’s and my belongings, the only part of our old life we have, I racked up a pretty hefty bill.

I went to U-Haul with all the supporting documents of my situation and asked them to help in any way, shape or form. Being a multimillion dollar company, I figured they would be able to at least lower my bill from $2000 given the situation and the reasoning behind having to keep their trucks a tad longer than anticipated.

Their corporate office & this office lacks any business ethics & compassion. If you are a women going through any sort of hardship with domestic violence, know that this company does not care, nor understand when real life issues arise.

U-Haul has lost all my respect & all of our business. Support a smaller company who, would have assisted in some sort of way, even without being a multimillion dollar corporation.

- a loyal customer, lost.

U-Haul is a masterclass in shady…

U-Haul is a masterclass in shady business practices, and I’ve had it with their scams. First, they hit me with surprise charges for furniture pads I didn’t return, buried in a 90-page contract no one could reasonably read. These weren’t one-time fees—they tried to bill me monthly, like I’m renting blankets for life! When I called them out, their customer service was useless, so I canceled my card to stop the nonsense. Who hides fees like that except a company out to fleece customers?

Then, with their U-Box service, I requested a pickup for April 30th, the last day of my rental. U-Haul admitted they couldn’t send anyone until May, then had the audacity to charge me $450 for another month because of their scheduling failure. I’m not paying for their incompetence! Their reps were beyond unhelpful—pure dogshit—and refused to waive the fee. So, I canceled my card again. If they want to chase me for $450, I’m ready to drag them to small claims court in Maine and bury their lawyers in interrogatories until it costs them thousands.

U-Haul’s game is clear: trap you with fine print, rigid billing, and arbitration clauses to bully you into paying. Their autopay system is a license to steal, and their service is a joke. I’m filing complaints with Maine’s Attorney General and Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection for deceptive practices under the Unfair Trade Practices Act. Save yourself the headache—rent from literally anyone else. U-Haul doesn’t deserve your business.

Out to Screw the Customer!

Out to Screw the Customer!

Rented a 10' truck and told the service rep I'd be late returning the vehicle due to ferry sailing times, traffic etc. which he advised wasn't an issue.
On the day of return I received 2 calls asking where the truck was, I replied that I had spoken to the rep during pick up and that I would be late, again they said no issue.
I called to advise the expected time of drop off and was advised that it wasn't a problem, as long as I was there before 4:30pm closing time.
I dropped off the vehicle, was emailed the receipt and noticed that they charged me for a full extra day.
If they had have said that I would be charged an extra day I would have taken my time driving and unloading the truck, without pressure, and returned it the following day, considering I had already paid for the rental.
Called and spoke to the service rep again and she commented that I should have read the contract and to contact headoffice, which I did, left a message, with response.
Never using Uhaul again

Unbelievable - t he worst possible moving company EVER!

Unbelievable - it used to be a reliable trusted company! So, since they use third party companies who are not part of the “ corporate dealership” you don’t know what you are getting! I scheduled a truck, a auto transport in Michigan, going to NC …. I got the transport only on the basis that the uhaul location would hook up the transport, AND tie it down properly for safety. Hey, Im a 70 year old woman! Can’t be responsible for the tie down and safety of the transport function. Of course over the phone, they assure me that will be a part of the service …. The rude jERK that hooked the transport to the truck, walked away and said “ you are good, go ahead and load your car”… I told him that the service of tie down (I wold drive it onto the transport) he wouldn’t do. it went on with more rude remarks from him, as he walked into his little shop, leaving me standing in the parking lot, freezing rain, and no way to handle the loading of my vehicle and tie down! - mind you the truck was already loaded. I ended up having to call a friend, drive to Detroit, under the advice of the uhaul agent I called. “ it wasn’t a dealership you were working with that is why they did not want to tie it down”. Why didn’t uhaul note that and send me directly to a “dealership” knowing that i would need this service? Moving on, I finally got it handled with the “dealership” - uhaul, The guy who tied it down also stated that the tie downs had not been installed right, so I should check it every couple hundred miles!!!~! Which of course I did. I arrived at the destination in NC, the company that was hired by uhaul, to offload my truck - into U-boxes (the idea that I would then have them delivered once I got a house) waited 2 hours for the paperwork, and the unbox units to be brought into the yard where they could be loaded. Nightmare. The movers were great. Patient. I comped them a 100.00 tip because I felt to so bad that it took so long. This is Uhaul at it’s best?m. I should note that right on the site, it states that the delivery would be 99.00 for them to deliver the boxes, which today i am quoted 148.00 - basically trust nothing you are told. Today, when speaking to the uhaul where my boxes are stored, the person behind the counter at this uhaul quotes me 148.00 plus if Im going to use their offload service it would be 600.00! ——2 boxes, 2 men to offload, from the boxes to the garage (oh say 10 feet???) 600? I told him forget it. Then schedule 2 guys to offload for 269.00 - I’ve been on with U-haul this morning for 3 hours trying to get this scheduled. The ‘local uhaul”m person I spoke with also said “ it’s possible your delivery date could be pushed back if there isn’t a spot on the delivery truck available”. So, you hire a third party offload company, they charge to cancel or change dates (50%) and Uhaul can’t confirm that my boxes will be on the delivery truck for the specific date I paid this other company to show up? This gets worse by the minute. Uhaul. Once a standard in the moving industry has now become no better than a third world company, who takes you money, provides zero service, takes no responsibility for the quality of service —changes it’s policy and price, as you speak to different agents…. But hey, they got you money! As of this writing it is a crap shoot if I will get the boxes delivered on the date I need them (5 days away mind you). This is the last I will ever use uhaul - surely there are better moving companies out there! IF I could give fractions for ratings, I would. Lesson learned. Take my word, it’s a terrible company

Excellent experience

We stored our goods in Medford NY for 4 years. The facility was modern and clean. Saff let us check on our boxes; they had them down and ready to inspect. The staff were helpful and very efficient. After 4 years we shipped the boxes to the UK with U Haul international. Tylene helped me with every step and kept me informed at all times. Our goods made it here and I'm happy to report there wasn't one damage or breakage.

Unreliable and horrible service

Absolutely unreliable company with abysmal service.

Abandoned me in the hot sun and cost me $150 in transportation costs. Rented a uhaul at the one singleton, Alameda, CA location. Confirmed reservation with pickup instructions. No one at the location. Customer service disavowed any responsibility to provide me with a vehicle even though I have a confirmed reservation for a pickup at 2:00 p.m. . Proprietor of this location it was inside their unit and ignored me and I disabled friend in the hot sun.

Pass between five customer service agents on the phone and finally reached a local person who could only book me another reservation at another location 10 miles away. Refuse to pay for transportation to the other location.

Never ever have a truck available!

Every single time we have rented a truck the morning before (or sometimes the morning of!) pickup we're told the truck is unavailable at that location. We always put in the order weeks if not a full month ahead of time. There is zero excuse for why a truck can't be brought there with that much time other than they just plain old don't care. I'm so sick of this! I wish there were another affordable option for longer moves.

This has happened to us the last 4 times we moved. It's totally unacceptable.

DO NOT TRUST THE STORE MANAGER ERIC

DO NOT TRUST THE STORE MANAGER ERIC! I made a reservation for a hitch install, and paid for everything in advance. My husband and I have very busy schedules, so picking a day that worked for both of us was a struggle, but we decided on Friday, April 11th.
A few days before my appointmen, I received a confirmation text reminding me of my appointment on Monday, April 14. We were not available that day, so I immediately called the store to find out what happened but they never answered the phone. Instead the call was sent to the corporate call center. I explained what happened, and the person at the call center said they could see in their system that the schedule change happened at the store. They were unable to make contact with them, so they sent a message for the store manager Eric to contact me ASAP. About an hour later I got a phone cal. Eric said their main hitch installer no longer worked there, and they didn’t want to overwhelm the new guy, so they had to reschedule me. I told him I’m not available that day, but he could simply refund me the money I paid for labor, give me the parts I ordered, and I will have it installed elsewhere. He put me on hold for a while, and when he came back on the line he informed me that he switched the schedule around and would be honoring my original appointment.
On Friday the 11th, my husband and I headed to U-Haul before work so I could drop off the vehicle. The kid helping me was new, so he had to call Eric (who was not at the store at the time) to ask what to do and how to find my reservation. They told me I would get a call when it was done, I left my keys with them, and my husband took me to work.
9 hours later a coworker dropped me off at U-Haul, where I noticed my vehicle in the same spot where I left it. I walked inside, told them I was picking up my vehicle that was left for a hitch install, and was told they didn’t know anything about an install taking place today. Before doing anything else, the employee walked out to my vehicle, got down on the ground to look under my vehicle, and saw that no work had been done. We walked inside so he could reach out to the store manager Eric to see what was going on. Eric told him he didn’t know anything about it, offered no help or assistance, and hung up. The employee helping me then reached out to Eric’s boss to try and figure out how to process a refund for the labor. Turns out they are not able to do that, so instead they refunded me for everything and I then had to pay for the hitch again so I can have it installed elsewhere.
A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND GAS, AND I AM WAITING FOR THE REFUND TO PROCESS! AS LONG AS ERIC IS IN CHARGE, DO NOT DO BUSINESS AT THE MINERAL KING U-HAUL IN VISALIA, CA

Rude Untrained Staff

I recently reserved a cargo van for a 4 day period. When I went to pick up my van, I was told I had to have a major credit card with a major logo on it. I have a combo credit or debit card through my bank. The girl behind the counter said she could not take it, I told her that if she swipes it, there will be a choice for credit or debit and to select credit. She refused to do that. Was rude, and uncooperative. I canceled the order and wanted a receipt that said canceled. She said, in a very rude manner, that she could not to that. My entire day was ruined by a young girl who was not trained properly in either manners or technology. If I could give no stars, that is what I would leave..... I will never recommend uhaul to anyone.

12611 Research Blvd., Austin, Texas
I rented a cargo trailer on Friday, 4/4/2025, around 3:30 PM and returned it Saturday around 1:30 PM. After I dropped the trailer as instructed, Travian told me he would email me the receipt. He never did. On Sunday, Sawyer called me to ask when I would return the trailer. I told him I already did. He said he would check around and call me back. He never did. On Monday, I went to the location to pick up the return receipt. Sawyer charged me for 3 days. That is two days of overcharge. I told him to check the security camera recording to verify. He said he can't and will not reverse the overcharge. He was unprofessional and downright rude. I went back on Tuesday and got the overcharge reversed. Amy, the owner/manager, wasn't much better than her employee Sawyer. I would never go back to this location. I will go out of my way to give them a bad review. Never again

As others have said, if I could rate it at 0 stars I would. We were promised a truck at one location (after reserving it more than two months ahead of time). The day before, they moved the pickup location to a place 3 1/2 hours away. We had to get to that location, drive the truck back to the first location. U-Haul refused to compensate us for the extra miles we had to drive in our own vehicle to get the truck, for the extra fuel we had to use to put in the truck to get it back to our original location, nor for any inconvenience. I just got off the phone with them and they said they DID compensate us for the inconvenience by allowing us extra miles on the truck so that they didn't charge us for going over mileage - which only would have happened because they moved the pickup location farther away - NOT because we drove the truck farther than needed.

It would be a far better use of your money to hire a moving company to pick up and deliver your goods than to ever, ever trust U-Haul.

Uhaul screws it's customers over

Man, if I could give negative stars I would. I'm pissed off beyond reason at this point. Uhaul can seriously burn to the ground. I ordered some of their large transport boxes to assist with my move and chose specific dates that allowed me to have my things prior to starting my new job. I just got off the phone with them and they decided they can't deliver or pickup on the dates I chose and pushed all of my deliveries an extra 4 days out. So now, I not only have to wait extra time to even load my stuff into the containers from my old place, now I also have to wait extra time to even have my things in my new one. I'm never using Uhaul again. I would rather pay the extra in fuel money to make multiple trips in my truck than give this bullshit company any more of my money. Don't bother picking dates that work for you as they'll just change them anyway. Also, why the hell do they have to hold my stuff for 6 days after pickup when the new place is only 4 hours away unloaded? So now they're just taking my money for "storage" when they don't f'king have to!? Screw their logistics and policies. I shouldn't have to deal with this nonsense if I'm paying you over a thousand dollars.
