HORRIBLE COMPANY

HORRIBLE COMPANY, IT'S TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. I needed to be across country for the closing of a house and made my reservation a month in advance. THE NIGHT BEFORE moving I get an email telling me I have to drive 35 miles away to pick up a truck and then once I get there all hell breaks loose, the manager destroyed the truck by backing a trailer into it and there went my reservation. No other trucks available. I now have to wait TWO DAYS in order to get another truck. That gives me three days to drive from NC to CA. If I die on the road due to UHaul, someone sue the hell out of them for me.

Customer Service, Privacy Concerns, and Account Errors

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received. After two separate calls, my issue remains unresolved, and one call ended with the representative abruptly hanging up on me.

My account is somehow linked to people I do not know, including someone named “Kenneth.” When I called to ask how this could happen, the E-Alert representative was rude, defensive, and refused to verify information she had already provided. When I calmly asked for clarification, she terminated the call. I have recordings of both interactions.

What’s most concerning is the privacy issue. If customers aren’t allowed to know how unknown individuals are connected to their accounts, how are we supposed to trust that our personal information is secure?

This experience was unprofessional, frustrating, and unacceptable. I hope someone takes accountability and actually resolves these issues.

Do Not Rent at "Best 4 Less"

Poor app, non user friendly that took an hour with a rep to figure out my check in process. My reservation was changed 3 times to Best 4 Less in Atlanta. The location was more than sketchy and uncomfortable with a large rifle posted behind the protective glass. My truck was nasty! Smelled like Marijuana with Marijuana shavings on the seats and in the made up ashtray. Brownies all over the seats and floors with trash. 1/4 tank of gas in the truck. The most horrible experience renting Uhaul!

Delays, extra charges, disorganization

I was able to book the truck in advance with no problems. When going to receive the truck the attendant completed the paperwork and charged my credit card for the rental. After my card had been charged she notified that uhaul had closed my account due to an e alert possibly due to an overdue payment, I reviewed all my previous receipts and emails from uhaul and saw I had paid all previous rentals in full and had never been notified my account had been closed. The woman said she was unable to fix this and I would have to call uhaul before they could release the keys for a vehicle I had already paid for. After calling uhaul and waiting on hold for 30 minutes a very sarcastic and disrespectful employee answered the phone. He said there was an e alert but could not tell me why, or why I had not been notified of this and was able to book the vehicle without notification that i would be unable to pick it up. He was fortunately able to clear it and after about a 45 minute delay I was able to receive the vehicle. I also rented moving blankets from the pick up facility. The woman told me I needed to return then to the pick up location and not the drop of location. At the drop off location the staff member was rude and seemed to have difficulty understanding me. She said I needed to drop the blankets of at her location or I would be charged for them. The blankets were already en route with a family member back to the pick up location as the uhaul representative at the pick up instructed me to. I tried to explain the representative at the drop off location this but she could not understand what I was saying to her. Needless to say I was charged 60$ for moving blankets even though they were returned.

My husband rented a uhaul truck from…

Someone texted my husband from uhaul and said he wont hve a bill buut they took money from account today
My husband rented a uhaul truck from Laporte Indiana a couple of months ago this vendor of U haul organization was closed spoken with representative on phone because truck had no gas in it. We put gas into truck and this company had the nerve to refuse to rent to rent truck to us today. We were at Busy Bee Auto in Valparaiso Indiana this organization nice trucks full ready for service but Stephanie the company's customer service agent has a bad, unethical, unprofessional smart mouth stating my husband can file complaint but that $35.00 needs to be paid when there vendor in Laporte, Indiana knew truck didn't have any gas, we dropped it off in Valparaiso Indiana and the representatives knew issues but did not file a dispute they put responsibility on us. Uhaul needs to find more reliable ways to rent out their trucks like ( Busy Bee Auto in Valparaiso Indiana or Ace Hardware in Lake Station, Indiana these organizations has never steered us wrong. Stephanie whom ever you are that's working for Uhaul needs to be terminated and I know you're an African American individual ( but your conduct on phone with my husband ( Billy Jenkins) will not go untolerated

Charged After Return With No Inspection or Proof

I rented a U-Haul truck in December 2025. No walkthrough or inspection was performed with me at pickup or at return. The truck was returned on time, clean, and refueled to the required level.
After the return, I was charged $89.65 for fuel and additional charges without any inspection or documentation to support the claim. I disputed the charges and requested proof. To date, U-Haul has provided no inspection records, timestamps, photos, fuel documentation, or odometer verification—only automated responses.
Charging customers after a return without verified inspections is unacceptable. I am requesting a full refund of the $89.65.

Over priced

I gave the manager my exact destination address so mileage could be estimated correctly, but the calculation didn’t account for normal travel needs like gas stops. I was hit with an unexpected $164 overage charge as a result.

The total cost ended up being unreasonable, especially for older equipment, and $1.19 per extra mile is excessive. The pricing was not transparent, and the experience was disappointing. I won’t rent from U-Haul again and would not recommend them. For the total cost, you can purchase your own trailer.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION: Applegate Enterprise, 200 NW 72nd St, Gladstone, MO 64118, (816) 420-9400.

I am disabled and selected Mobile Pickup specifically because I cannot stand at a counter or wait in line. U-Haul reassigned my reservation to this location without my consent - I did not choose it.

The employee Nicole texted demanding a "valid reason" why I could not come inside, then threatened to deny me the truck keys or reverse my checkout if I did not comply. When I explained my disability, she responded with a passive-aggressive "See, that's all I needed to know. Communication goes a long way."

I picked up mid-voicemail where Nicole was already screaming at me. She falsely accused me of yelling, called me "nasty," said she did not want me at her location, and threatened to move my reservation even further away - which would have increased my drive from 5 miles to 14 miles each way. She then hung up on me mid-sentence.

Nicole continued texting and calling me AFTER I asked her to stop contacting me. I spent 3 hours resolving this while at work.

U-Haul Corporate confirmed in writing that Mobile Pickup cannot be denied. They moved my reservation closer and provided a $50 credit. But this location's conduct - demanding disability disclosure, verbal abuse, threats, and harassment - was completely unacceptable.

Ubox sitting on storage for weeks with no intention to ship to me

I ordered a UBox for an out of state move. I hired a moving company through U haul who did a great job. The problem started after they picked up my U box. They retrieved the box and brought it to one of their storage facilities. I contacted customer service and asked if they could ship out the U box as soon as possible. They said they But they guaranteed me a delivery date and assured me it would be there on time. The word "guarantee" was used several times.

Fast forward about two weeks of the box sitting needlessly in storage to two days prior to my box arriving and I get a message saying there was a delay in my shipment and no ETA on arrival. I contacted customer service and they had no answer for me. I had already taken PTO from work to unload the box and inform them I absolutely needed it as soon as possible.

After some back and forth customer service and the storage location I'm informed that the box is still just sitting in the same storage location that it has been in. I informed them that this was absolutely unacceptable and they had multiple weeks to ship the U box out. They had no answer, no ETA, and I received an extremely condescending voicemail from the storage facility. I was also informed that I would be charged storage fees if it stays in there too long.

Avoid U-haul like the plague. Go with literally any other shipping company because they do not care about your items.

Stay FAR AWAY FROM UHAUL

Stay FAR AWAY FROM UHAUL! They are wreckless and careless. They change delivery dates on your contract and try and gas light you into believing them. I have screen shots! That was my first set of pods. Second set scheduled to drop off on a Tuesday they call
Me Monday night telling me too bad you’re not getting them until Thursday! People have to move! Who the hell do they think they are! Disgusting. We’ve already paid for it as well! I’m
So absolutely disgusted by this company. Moving cross country and they pull this! I will be seeking a lawyer.

Corporate nightmare avoid this company!

U-Haul / All Storage Inspirada
Address: 3560 Volunteer Blvd, Henderson, NV
Date of Rental: December 1
This complaint is directed at both the local operator (All Storage Inspirada) and U-Haul corporate, which processed the payment, retained the funds, and failed to resolve the dispute.
On December 1, we rented a moving truck from this location. At pickup, no walkthrough or inspection was performed. We were handed pre-printed paperwork, told to sign, given the keys, and sent off. No fuel level was verified and no vehicle condition was documented in our presence.
The truck was returned the same day, clean, swept, refueled, and fully equipped. Again, no walkthrough or inspection was conducted at return, and no issues were communicated.
After the rental was complete, fuel and late fees were applied after the fact, without inspection, documentation, timestamps, or customer acknowledgment. This is exactly the type of billing practice consumers are warned about.
We appealed these charges twice.
No response.
We then paid $89.65 in good faith solely to avoid escalation, collections activity, or alleged contract violations — while maintaining the dispute. U-Haul accepted the payment.
To this day:
No response to either appeal
No documentation produced
No inspection records
No explanation
The only reply ever received was a generic Google response, requesting information U-Haul already had, which appears to be reputation management rather than actual resolution.
A customer signature on pre-printed paperwork does not replace an inspection. Accepting payment, ignoring disputes, and refusing to substantiate charges is not an error — it reflects a systemic and deceptive billing practice.
U-Haul cannot distance itself from this. They processed the payment, retained the money, and ignored the dispute. That makes this a corporate failure, not just a bad local operator.
Until a refund is issued, this review stands as a public record of how disputes are handled here:
take the money, ignore the customer, and hide behind boilerplate responses.
Not recommended. Document everything — or choose another company. Sharee

Beware of U-Haul’s Recommended “Moving Help” – They Take No Responsibility for Damage Caused by Their Helpers

I recently rented a truck from U-Haul, and at the rental counter, the agent enthusiastically recommended two different local loading/unloading companies through their Moving Help program (movinghelp.com, powered by U-Haul). I went ahead and booked them thinking it would be convenient and reliable since U-Haul was suggesting them.
The loaders (on the pickup side) did a solid job. They were professional, careful, and efficient. No issues there.
Unfortunately, the off-loaders (at the delivery end) were a completely different story. They complained constantly about the job, worked too fast, and worst of all caused noticeable damage to several pieces of my furniture during unloading. Scratches, dents, and one item was mishandled badly enough to break a leg/support.
When I filed a claim directly with U-Haul (providing photos, details, and the job reference), their response was essentially zero help. They acted as if I had randomly hired these people myself, with no connection to U-Haul. They refused to take any responsibility, pointing fingers at the independent contractors and offering no real resolution or compensation. It felt like they just washed their hands of the whole thing.
From what I’ve since learned, U-Haul’s Moving Help service connects customers with independent third-party helpers/contractors. U-Haul profits from the referrals/booking fees, but they disclaim pretty much all liability for the quality of work or any damage caused. If something goes wrong, you’re left dealing directly with the movers (who may or may not have adequate insurance or willingness to pay), or pursuing small claims court yourself.
Not all helpers are bad. Some reviews are positive, and my loaders were fine, but the risk is real, and U-Haul provides zero accountability when things go south.
Word of advice to anyone considering this: Skip U-Haul’s recommended Moving Help entirely. Do your own research and hire movers you know, trust, and who carry proper insurance and liability coverage. U-Haul is great at renting trucks and trailers, but they seem unwilling or unable to stand behind the labor services they push on customers.
Save yourself the headache, potential property damage, and frustration. I wish I had known this beforehand – it turned what should have been a straightforward move into a costly and stressful ordeal.
Would not recommend using their helper recommendations.

One-way 6x12 trailer rental 2 day.
I will NEVER use U-Haul again, this has been the most frustrating experience from beginning to end, and extremely stressful, if I could give less than one star, I would have. Your U-HAUL app is the worst. Talking to customer service individual’s is especially distasteful! Salli Rainwater whose email you use to send messages to, BECAUSE I am the one who placed the order, and whose phone number is used, and who paid you with MY credit card! My partner-Paul Pierce only provided his license as he was driving truck pulling your trailer. But I promise you, we will never use your company again. Reservation #: 1521682 - Yet when entered in U-Haul app. It states not found.

Victim's of theft and miss leading policies

After the uhaul trailer was stolen (BTW even though the say they have tracking devices on them they do Not-false advertising) and then recovered. Road side assistance would not fix the door where it would close. They would not exchange the trailer without a fee for drop off at a location, a completely new rental fee more than the original price, and were neither compassionate nor polite when asked for options. And corporate just transferred my call to 6 different people and then back to the first department I started with. My husband has just passed away and I was having the kids (age 40+) take the things that he wanted them to have. First my kids are victimized by theft and then victimized by uhauls policies

U-Haul Insurance is a JOKE!

If you rent anything from U-Haul, DO NOT BOTHER purchasing the insurance, it's a waste of money and a waste of time. We had several of our personal belongings damaged during a relocation from one state to another. U-Haul's insurance carrier RepWest will NOT replace anything if they didn't package and load the truck. They will turn around and say "damage was due to improper packing and loading". Their customer service is a joke! My claims adjustor changed in the middle of me requesting an update, and I was never notified. Supervisors say they will call back, I didn't ever get a call back. I called and left messages at least 4 times for a supervisor to call me for an update. I sent a picture of our padlock being left unlocked after being towed to another location when the truck broke down on the highway. We will never know if someone went into our truck and shuffled things around, but it was OUR fault we didn't properly package our belongings. What a joke!!! Just don't waste your money with their insurance. Rent from another company in my opinion.

I used U-Haul Moving Help for my move…

I used U-Haul Moving Help for my move in Vancouver, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing and stressful experience.
Two helpers arrived, and after the move, I discovered that several of my personal items were missing. These included a navy Arc’teryx jacket, a green-colored T-shirt, a bone-colored Lululemon zip-up hoodie, a sports bra, and a TheraBreath mouthwash bottle that was about half full. What was especially disturbing is that these items disappeared from a personal belongings bag that had been neatly folded and carefully placed, not from random boxes.
The bag was inside my car, and there was a period of time when the helpers had access to my vehicle. Another possibility is when the belongings were temporarily placed inside the home during the move. Although I paid for this service, I realized the items were missing the same day. I searched the entire house multiple times but could not find them.
In addition to this, from early in the morning, the U-Haul truck I had reserved was left unattended at a different location and was intentionally blocked by another vehicle, making it inaccessible. This caused a major delay. I had booked helpers for 4 hours, but the move took over 6 hours. Because of the delay, I was forced to pay an additional $120 for overtime, which the helpers requested to be transferred to their personal bank account, and I also had to pay extra charges to U-Haul.
I have photo evidence and am looking to connect with other customers who may have experienced similar issues. If you have gone through something like this, please consider leaving a reply.
Based on my experience, I strongly recommend being extremely cautious when using Moving Help and would suggest hiring professional movers instead.
I am continuing to collect evidence related to this incident and am sharing my experience across multiple platforms in order to find other consumers who may have gone through similar situations. While the theft itself is a serious issue, what is even more important to me is identifying customers who may have experienced the same problem but were unable or afraid to speak up, and finding consistent, matching evidence together.
