The absolute worst customer service

The absolute worst customer service. I have been a loyal customer for over 10 yrs. I received my most recent order, the box was opened on the bottom and my items were stolen! I called customer service, they said the box was correct weight when it left distribution facility they cant replace or refund me for stolen items. I closed my account and will NEVER deal with Ulta again! $118 completely lost.

I was online since 10 AM Florida time…

I was online since 10 AM Florida time to have a chance to attend Ulta Beauty World, but the app simply wouldn't give me the option to even join the queue to buy a ticket. I had to access it through Google in incognito mode, I don't know why, but it was the only way it worked. The loading circle never progressed past the first stage, and 30 minutes later they simply closed the line. We connected from several devices at my house to try and get just one ticket for me, since I love buying beauty products all year round, but I've never in my life felt so disappointed and like I wasted so much time and had my expectations crushed. As always, only influencers will get in, a deceptive practice by Ulta Beauty. I wish there was something that could change my experience with Ulta Beauty because I called customer service and they didn't know anything and weren't helpful at all.

Formal Complaint and Required Action Regarding Ulta Beauty World Marketing

This approach felt deceptive and disrespectful of customers’ time and loyalty. As a Platinum member, I expected transparency and integrity from a brand that positions itself as customer-first. Instead, this experience has significantly eroded my trust in Ulta and directly influenced my decision to stop shopping with the brand.

As a result, I am requesting the following:

A formal apology acknowledging that the messaging and execution of this campaign were misleading.

A clear explanation of why non-influencers were invited to participate in a registration flow that was never intended to be accessible to them.

A commitment to a policy change ensuring future marketing communications clearly state eligibility requirements and do not place customers into false queues or dead-end registration pages.

What could have been an opportunity to strengthen customer relationships instead demonstrated a willingness to mislead loyal customers for engagement metrics. Until this issue is meaningfully addressed, my loyalty—and business—will remain elsewhere.

I hope Ulta takes this feedback seriously and uses it to improve how it communicates with and respects its customer base.

Compromised gift card from Ulta

I bought a gift card that was compromised and Ulta would not refund. Customer service first said they would refund but then sent email saying they would not refund. I went in the store to purchase gift card with my debit card on 12/18/25 at the Creve Coeur, Mo store. It was mailed in a box for Christmas to Dallas. Card was used on 1/15/26 and the problems began. Found out card was redeemed on 12/24/25 In Utah.

Pure disappointment…in Hadley store

We had made an appointment with there salon to get eyebrows down when we got there hairstyles took walk in before us and 45 minutes she was still working on her. What a dump why you are making appointments then if you taking walk in knowing your scheduled appointment is standing there. They should be a shame.

Great Company Online

I order online from Ulta a lot. I slowed down a bit because they run nice specials on the products that I use and am stocked up. Their rewards plan is so beneficial to the customer and gift items are often included. Who doesn’t like free stuff? I’ve ordered product from having the benefit of a sample and so I’m trying out a perfume this time. I love the convenience of shopping with them on line. They are a great company. I had one complaint regarding a shipping company they were using for a time and they addressed it immediately and provided quick resolution. They ALWAYS answer the phone. Customer service is awesome. They have limited items in store but you can get anything you need from them online. If you watch a product that you use a lot, it will go on sale at some point. I don’t tan anymore but some of their bronzers leave you in a full body tan for days. I also use Paul Mitchell and Joico products because my hair can get damaged from processing. If you go online, you can’t lose.

I would give them zero stars if I…

I would give them zero stars if I could. I had credit card theft back in May 2025 with my Ulta card. I had to dispute a charge. After closing my card I got a new one. Made several purchases in the store and one online in Sept 2025. I decided to order a few products online this week. After three attempts and three phone calls of them telling me something was wrong with my credit card today they inform me I'm not allowed to order anything online. I must go to a store to purchase. They also tell me this is an un reversible decision on their part. I was never informed of this decision. I had a stole credit card dispute which was not my issue. I purchased in Sept 2025 online. I was told I can never purchase online with Ulta only store purchase foreseen any future purchases.

I went to the Ultra store at the 225 Union Street in Waterbury CT. I was totally lost so I asked an employee for assistance. I am very happy with the service I received. I am a little school regarding cosmetics. She was very patient with me. I know customers always call out when they are unhappy so I like to call out when a employee goes above and beyond it is very rear to find that nowadays. I asked for her name is SURY.

I used to love Ulta

I used to love Ulta. But their customer service is the absolute worst I've ever experienced. It took weeks to get my first response via email back from them. And then the agent took over a month and a half (yes, you read that right) to respond for a second time. And provided zero help or assistance. When I received the automated message asking how their customer service was I thought okay, a manager will see I am unhappy and will get back to me. Nope. They clearly don't need my business. And as a person who has worked in customer service before, I understand dealing with humans can be terrible and they can be unreasonable - but this was not the case. Treat your customers better Ulta.

Awesome customer service

I made an online pickup order & didn’t realize pickup closes before the store and I went in to pick up my order. The order wasn’t ready but the two awesome ladies who assisted me got my items right away and took care of me aside from them being kind of busy! Great experience!

This is more a warning than a review

This is more a warning than a review. We usually shop at the Rivergate Ulta in Charlotte. I actually rarely use my ULTA store card because we blow-it-out at Christmas every year with the 20% off everything and the added perks on the app. We went twice this year because I had two Coupons which I loved. First trip with two of my daughters went great and I racked up almost $300 in rewards. Second trip on December 23rd, 2025 turned into a financial nightmare. We had almost a $1000 in merchandise and shut the cash register system down the first try. The really sweet lady re-rang the sale and it looked like it was working. I run my Ulta card a couple of times and it kept saying "NOT COMPLETED". The cashier could not process the sale and my rewards had disappeared with the sales process so she suspended the sale. I actually did not realize it had been suspended. I ASSUMED, yeah I know, that it had been canceled. The merchandise was held and I was to come back on Christmas Eve which is a pain but my girls wanted their stuff for Christmas. I continued to watch my Ulta Rewards Card account to make sure my rewards were available. I notice that they had an AUTH GRANTED for $758.93 so I called and asked that it be removed so I could purchase my stuff. Comenity refused to take it off. I still went to make my purchase with another form of payment and hardly got any reward because COMENITY BANK is horrible!!! But that is not the kicker. The HOLD on my account has now been moved into $758.93 of actual charges. I called Comenity Bank and they say it is the store's responsibility. The manager at Rivergate Ulta said it is the Bank's responsibility. Ulta Customer Care seems like they are trying to resolve the situation but I think World Peace would be easier than getting this FAKE CHARGE off my account. The charge is in DISPUTE but Comenity Bank is what I consider unethical at the least and scammers at the worst so I have asked repeatedly if they are sure they will not try to make a sellable debt out of this fake charge because they have done it to me before. IF YOU HAVE A SALE THAT DOES NOT GO THROUGH AND YOU HAVE RAN YOUR CARD THROUGH THE READER , GET PROOF THAT THE SALE WAS NOT PROCESSED!!

Unprofessional hiring process

Unprofessional hiring process. I was hired, onboarded, and scheduled, then let go after three days with no clear explanation. Training was disorganized, communication was inconsistent, and expectations were unclear. This location needs better management practices and basic respect for employees’ time. Not recommended if you’re looking for stability or professionalism.

You will not get your rewards $ credited back if you return or exchange an online item in the store

Everyone should be aware that if you order online and redeem your reward points, you will LOSE them if you return OR exchange that item in stores. I confirmed this with Ulta's Supervisor at Corporate. I feel that is completely unethical. They can easily have a system in place to credit those points BACK to your account. They save when YOU go to the store. The policy is so very wrong.

Product was incorrect in the box

Product was incorrect in the box, so I contacted customer service. They ran around with canned responses about valuing my time, know I expect a resolution and all the other useless platitudes, asked me the same questions 3 times, took 10-15 mins between responses only to say we know you want a response but take it back to the store. Waste of time all around

DO NOT SHOP AT ULTA, PURE GREED, AND COUPONS YOU CAN’T USE,

I am completely done shopping at Ulta and rate them a zero. They pitch great coupons when you go to use them. It’s a different story. They use the word prestige on their coupons, but don’t tell you exactly what it is and what is allowed. During their Jumbo sale they offer a $10 off coupon with the purchase of $50. You have to purchase it online and then pick it up in the store, I order online for convenience, so it can be shipped directly to my home, but oh no, not with Ulta if you want a discountn Their prices weren’t as great as they thought the price for Redken liters was $37.99 same as Amazon. Also, JCPenney offered it for $34.19 plus I could use a coupon on it of course, I ordered from JCPenney’s. Goodbye Ulta YOU HAVE GOTTEN WAY TOO GREEDY.

I went into the Ulta Beauty on Sand…

I went into the Ulta Beauty on Sand Lake ready to purchase three different gifts for my sisters, fully intending to spend a good amount of money. Unfortunately, the experience made me walk out without buying anything.

From the moment I walked in, I felt constantly followed and watched. I couldn't move through the store without another employee immediately approaching me. This wasn't helpful customer service -- it felt like being stalked, and it became extremely uncomfortable and annoying.

Offering help is fine, but being on top of customers in such an excessive way is not. It completely took away from the shopping experience. Because of this, the store lost three guaranteed sales, and I chose to shop elsewhere.

I won't be returning to this location unless there's better training on how to assist customers respectfully and without hovering.
