Capotaormina

Capotaormina: AVOID
1/5 — ruined our honeymoon.
Overpriced, outdated, and not what was advertised.

We stayed at Una Hotels Capotaormina for our honeymoon, expecting a luxury experience given the price point. Unfortunately, almost every aspect fell short of what was promised.

Rooms: Basic and outdated — no iron only access was to a communal ironing room which was in an awful state of disrepair. Had to negotiate for bottled water. We had the best room which wasn’t a suite and yet the thin walls meant we could hear everything next door from footsteps and movement to suitcases and teeth brushing from neighboring rooms throughout the night.

Cleanliness: very outdated in communal areas with Visible stains throughout the seating areas. dirty room balcony that wasn’t cleaned during our stay.

Dining: The restaurant quality was so poor it was embarrassing. More liked tinned commodities than what one would expect of such an advertised hotel— far below what a hotel at this rate should offer. The second restaurant was not much better but was not available for evening dining. The only remaining option for food is to travel to Taormina itself.

Value: For what we paid, horrendous. we expected an exceptional experience. Instead we got a property that felt misadvertised, neglected and under-maintained.

We raised issues during the stay and were given a partial meal refund, but the overall experience — rooms, cleanliness, and food — was never addressed. Not what we expected for a honeymoon, and not worth the price.

As with the other negative reviews for this hotel we expect a largely ignored response from management in reply.

See photos of our poor experience.
- there are amazing hotels in the centre of Taormina instead, please please make sure that you stay at one of those and don’t make the same mistake we did.i

Great location, disappointing stay and poor customer service

I stayed at UNA Hotels Galles Milano for two nights on a business trip. While the location is excellent and very convenient for getting around Milan, my overall experience was disappointing.

I was assigned a Classic Single Room on the seventh floor. The room felt outdated, had no bidet, and the room phone was not working.

The main issue, however, was the excessive noise. The room was located directly below the rooftop area and close to a high traffic zone. On both nights there were loud conversations until well after midnight, together with the constant sound of chairs being dragged across the rooftop floor above my room. Getting a proper night’s sleep was almost impossible.

To make matters worse, after housekeeping serviced my room I found one of my personal belongings moved and damaged. I reported the incident immediately to the front desk. Rather than showing concern or trying to find a reasonable solution, I was simply told that, since there was no proof of what had happened, the hotel could not take any responsibility. I understand that responsibility cannot always be established with certainty, but I expected a far more customer oriented approach from a hotel of this standard.

Good location alone cannot compensate for poor room quality, lack of sound insulation, and an unsatisfactory handling of customer concerns. I hope the hotel will pay more attention both to room maintenance and to the way guest complaints are managed.
