Unite signed a NDA

Unite signed a Non Disclosure Agreement, agreeing not to consult the workforce about transfers of employment and redundancies.

I lost my job with immediate effect with not redundancy pay or notice pay when I was transferred to an incorrect company.

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace! 28 years in the Union and when you need them they can’t be bothered! Had to use my own solicitor because unite wouldn’t entertain any help until it goes to tribunal! Then when it was going to tribunal they said it wasn’t a good enough case for them to take on! What are our monthly fees for ???

One star is far to generous

One star is far to generous. Unite are a waste of time and money. Their reps and regional officers don't have a backbone. They work for the company I worked for. So there are lines they clearly follow. In both disciplinary and appeal hearing my representation was poor. As for legal advice that too was a joke. I was told that I could not have legal representation. 7 years at £16 per month. Unite are a joke.

The WORST UNION!!!

It was unfortunate there was no Zero. Extremely disappointed with the lack of responsiveness I experienced regarding legal advice requests. On multiple occasions, I have contacted the team seeking legal assistance, and each time I was promised a call back from a representative, which never materialized.
This consistent lack of follow-through and inability to access the support I was entitled to as a member is unacceptable. Due to this experience, I no longer feel confident relying on their services and I decided to cancel my membership and also requested the subscription fee for the month. The WORST UNION!!!

I'd give zero if it was an option

I'd give zero if it was an option.

Incredibly poor support, basically non-existent, fobbed off by the regional officer.

Left to fight a tribunal by myself.

You pay money and supposedly have support, legal if necessary, but it's all a lie.

This is from a strong unionised industry too.

Unite the Union is an open scam, fraud and crime. Never recommend joining them.

Unite the Union is not a union except acting like a mafia or cartel and procuring the employer instead of helping and protecting hard-earned employees.

I contacted Unite the Union as a premium-paid member, and Unite, the Union representative Karen, assured me that she would help me in the case and refer it to the relevant department. However, she knowingly used delaying tactics and assured me that she would get help and direct me to her colleague dealing with legal matters, and he could further refer me to a union legal firm.

After a struggle, I contacted the representative dealing with the legal issues, discussed my case, and requested legal assistance and representation. However, he knowingly ignored me, avoided response, and did not provide legal assistance and representation once I was forced to withdraw my case.

My case was about the unlawful dismissal, which resulted in the loss of three jobs and the inability to secure future work with all three employers, the National Probation Service. Sodexo Limited and Professional Security Services, aka Effective Security Limited.

All these employers are powerful corporations, including the governmental department, and the officials involved had legal departments and representatives, including Barristers and Solicitors, who defended them in the Employment Tribunal, whereas my Union did not provide me with any legal assistance and representation, which forced me to withdraw my case because I could not afford one privately.

The significant problem I faced was the biased attitude of the Employment Tribunal Judge, who had already decided to set aside my complaint and pass judgment in favour of my employers when she refused to accept my comprehensive formal complaint against my employers, police reports and other evidence.

Another problem was that my ongoing disability and health issues made things worse, which forced me to withdraw my case, even though I had sufficient evidence to prove them guilty and helped law enforcement agencies to punish them.

After that, I realised that I could not get justice as I belong to a Muslim ethnic minority; I have no right to challenge white people, white bureaucracy, or the white Judiciary.

My reliance on the Union was detrimental as Unite the Union was genuinely helping my employers succeed by depriving me of legal assistance and representation, which proved the Union was a part of the administration.

Unite the Union are open scammers and fraudsters who lure people to join them with fake and fraudulent services they offer when they advertise for membership. However, later in the time of need, they will never help you except by assisting the employer in succeeding.

A comprehensive review will be updated shortly.

DO NOT JOIN!

I urge you to check first the negative reviews. Save your money. Over the years, I have asked in two occasions for assistance. I am deeply disappointed with the services provided by Unite The Union company. It has been a complete waste of money to be associated with an organization that fails to deliver on its promises. Countless times, when I needed their assistance, they were nowhere to be found. Despite reaching out through various channels, including calls and emails, the response was always delayed or, in some cases, non-existent.After weeks of persistent follow-ups, I was met with a patronizing and unhelpful representative who seemed more annoyed than concerned about my issue. This individual exhibited a rude and dismissive attitude, displaying no interest in resolving my concerns. It was clear that customer care and support were not their priorities. The lack of responsiveness and the disrespectful manner in which I was treated left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I cannot in good conscience recommend Unite The Union to anyone seeking reliable and supportive assistance. The company's ineffectiveness and unprofessional conduct make it an unwise choice for anyone seeking competent and respectful representation.

A union with zero backbone

A union with zero backbone! Constantly throwing the RMT under the bus, making them weaker in what they are fighting for… but happy to reap the rewards when RMT members remain strong, lose wages and don’t bend over like the joke of a union unite! Avoid like the plague.

Believe the bad reviews!!

Believe the bad reviews!!

I joined the Unite union as I believed the organisation I worked for had an impending strike and I wanted to make sure I had as much protection and help through an upsetting and financially challenging time as possible.

Not to go into the finer details but I was very unimpressed with the way the union handled the strike when it did happen and very quickly folded to my organisations demands.

I decided quite quickly the union was not for me and left having only been a member for a few months.

During the whole strike process I was told by reps that we would all be reimbursed a daily fee for loss of earnings but to wait until we had a pay slip to prove this, it took my company 2 months to provide said payslip by which time I had long left the union.

When it came time to make my claim I was told that only union members could claim even though I was a fully paid up member at the time of striking, I was also told I could not rejoin and make a claim! I asked for evidence and was sent a paragraph of text that said no one would be paid anything unless they had been in the union for at least 65 days, this was NEVER explained at any point and I feel totally lied too, I have now lost money and it has put my family into more financial difficulties after the shambles of the strike that should have never been called off.

There tactics are very unorthodox and I believe they are only out to get what they can for themselves.

Shocking

Tories in disguise

Absolute crooks. Lost all faith after believing they would help. They have told absolute lies and they don’t know what they are talking about and incompetent. The regional officer is paid a fortune and her knowledge is so poor. Was actually told and luckily have a recording of her telling me and patronisingly explaining how the burden of proof is with the employer. This isn’t true and luckily I know employment law. Don’t believe what they tell you. Looking forward to sharing her incredible knowledge with her members

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible, don't care in the slightest about members and only interested in attacking management and their political interests. Reps are totally incompetent and complete embarrasment when representing me, no preparation and nothing but a crumpled up piece of paper. Complete waste of money.

I felt my experience with unite was a complete waste of time and money.
I didn’t feel supported enough in the situation I was in . Just felt like my corner was not fought at all. Nearly a year has gone by and I still suffer with my mental state, as it was such a traumatic experience during the time when I needed their help and support the most. They agreed I was dismissed unfairly by the company, and agreed it was done in a very inconsistent way, myself and 3 others were dismissed, however 5 others kept their jobs, even though they committed the same act.
No further action was advised to be taken, even though my rep had promised me I was in for a chance as it was unfair dismissal, and that i should go to tribunal. But the regional manager advised not too.

Arrogant and unaccountable

Please save your money. I was a member for ten years and ONCE I asked for help and they couldn't be bothered to contact me. I repeatedly asked for assistance and they repeatedly ignored me. I made an official complaint and they couldn't be bothered to investigate it or even write to me. They think they are beyond reproach and are totally useless. DO NOT JOIN.

Incapable of supporting with a simple password reset

Incapable of supporting with a simple password reset to access member's section on their website.
Zero response to several emails and phone calls over two weeks.
I cancelled my membership after two years with them without having asked for anything ever other than this password reset, as they are incontactable and therefore unlikely to be available for support with anything more important or challenging than a password reset.
I only wish I had discovered this sooner, as I am not sure what I was actually paying my membership fee for.
