Got it right first time.
It's incredible how many companies manage to make a complete hash of even the most simple of tasks, but here's a spoiler, Utopia manage to get it right, here's what another company did, and here is how Utopia smashed it.
I wanted to buy a new private reg for my car, and my wife's too. Simple right? Wrong. Picked the plates directly from the DVLA, ordered on the website and waited, and waited, and waited some more. After 6 weeks I called the DVLA to be told that the numbers I had chosen and paid for had been sold to someone else, really?! No apology, just told it will take 2-4 weeks to get my money back. Actually took 9 weeks, fantastic. Doesn't help that I needed some new number plates too, as the ones the dealer made up for our new cars were faded, with wonky numbers and just looked awful from day one. Not really great if you're a little OCD like me and seeing that drove me potty.
Happened across Utopia online and the reviews looked great, so I went for it. I figured as well that if the DVLA wet the bed again, at least Utopia would be able to try and help. Ordered two new regs from them, alongside the number plates to go with, sent them my proofs and hoped for the best. A week later, I got back from work to find my a parcel through the door from Utopia. Both sets of plates and the documents for the reg numbers in a well padded custom sized envelope, sent by Royal Mail tracked that had come straight through the door, ready to go.
The plates themselves? Really impressed. I went with 3D gel, oversized plate at the back (the size my car came with) with the UK emblems as we do take my car abroad. Wife's are standard printed with the EV flash. Both are level, numbers and letters are printed/placed straight and true and both look fantastic.
The whole process was quick, completely painless, paperwork was all in order, plates are solid and the prices were very reasonable too, what's not to like? So if you really want a hassle free experience, give them a try. Thanks.

Push in number plate mounts
Bought the push in number plate mounts for my VW golf (even tho it said for Audi) and they fit great and make it easy to take the plate on and off for car shows etc.
