Have had excellent experience with them in the past, but now very unhappy. Bought a new Volt bike from them in February which developed a battery fault at the very start of November, so took it back for a repair. Since then, hopeless. Lengthy delays, appalling communication (they never answer the phone), endless promises not fulfilled. After six weeks of waiting - during which time, it transpired, they did absolutely nothing - finally got the bike back by involving the manufacturer and demanding it back, repaired or unrepaired. No explanation for the problems or delays.

I recently had a problem with my Cannodale Tesoro electric bike which runs on the Mahle X35 system. I contacted Velo-Smith to discuss. The news was not good! A new battery was required with a considerable amount of work to sort this out. However, the problem was sorted within a short time with good communication all the way through. I will certainly be happy to return with any other problems that occur, Thank you!!

I'm very happy with the service received from Velo Smith. They advised me what needed to be done and had my bike back on the road within 48 hours of me taking it to them for repair.

David & his Team have been magnificent in helping me out recently.
Firstly, I bought a “bike in the box” (GT Pantera)
which had a couple of faults with it, rang David and explained my issues, he was very helpful in diagnosing the fault and then fixing it for me.
I also asked for a shimano display computer to be fitted on my second visit, David was more than helpful in sourcing the part for me and fitting it.
Cannot recommend this guy enough to someone who has a fault with their bike or looking to purchase a bike.
Recently had to return again with a puncture, David was ran off his feet so busy, but without hesitation, as I was stranded, David replaced my inner tube(lesson included!) and I was back on my way.
Velo-Smith in Plympton highly recommended guys.

I was in need of a replacement bike quickly due to having mine stolen. I approached David for a quote which was very competitive and placed my order for a custom built Surly disc trucker. the build took a little longer than hoped but this was down to postal strikes and difficulty in obtaining parts i specced.
When i collected the bike i was over the moon it rode great and every attention to detail has been done. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Velo Smith to anyone looking for a high quality service. Thank you David.

Pretty angry ; Very dissapointing experience coming here for just ADVICE on my custom pedelec. After cycling in from south brent where i use the bike on a friends private land to assist in harvesting crops , he took one look at me with bubbling hostility, then took one look at the bike and said ' its illegal i am not working on it '. After assuring him that i DIDN'T want him to work on it i was just ' seeking verbal advice ' , the merchant presented a pretty vile disdain towards me and refused to assist in my enquiry and asked me to leave. What had i done ? I have no idea. My first visit here was puctuated with moans and grumbles of chinese tech n bikes etc and the intolerance towards ' cheap builds '. I found these comments hardly useful or supportive as i was not interested in his opinion on this as quite a few people i know have had satisfactory experience of using chinese tech. Aside from that i do not have £3000 for a posh bosch system, and find the price point for most pedelecs is beyond my reach. Sadly it seems ' velo smith ' has an air of arrogance and dissonance towards those of us that present as a little different. I myself am always on my bike and look scruffy and worn. My modified MTB is old, and not modern, dirty at times and not clean , and has a chinese kit assembled on it , that on the day wasa dialled down to 250 watts for purposes of road riding. Whilst i don't fault the work they do because their reviews are great, hence this is why i came, but after experiencing the prejudice and intolerance of the individual concerned i will never come back, let alone recommend them to anyone. I will be submitting further complaints to forums and enthusiast groups elsewhere, as i don't believe this to be the general attitude in the industry. Snobbery, intolerance and discrimination concludes this review.

Really helpful Plymouth bike shop. Loads of experience and really strive to put the customer first.

I had my gear indexing checked and they sorted it on the spot for me. I also arrabged to purchase an item which was misquoted but they honoured the price to their detriment, which really proves that they care about their customers.
