Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Caring and rapid response to treating our dog after an accident. Thank you so much

The vet was very caring and understood how I felt, explained everything and gave me alternatives to treatment and allowed me to choose what treatment I wished to have for my dog. However the cost of consultation and overnight care was astronomical, as on call vets have been discontinued at our normal practice. It also meant that I had to collect my dog at 7.30 in the morning from Colwyn Bay and take her back to my own vet 40 miles away to continue her care which was far from convenient or nice for my dog. This also means that if my dog had to stay overnight again at my own vets I would have to transport her back to the vets in Colwyn Bay. This makes me rethink about seeking help out of hours. Such a shame.

We were on holiday and had to see an emergency vet for our dog, it was out of hrs, the staff were all fantastic, friendly, understanding, caring & informative & patient

I think the charge for the consultation was ridiculously high, I thought that there was no improvement in Lola's condition when we left after the 7 hours monitoring. The vet was able to give an indication of what she thought might be the problem but the cost of just further investigation was prohibitive. She said without having an endoscope she couldnt confirm the problem. My regular vet looked in Lolas mouth without any instrumentation and saw the problem. The consultation at my normal vet was £300+ less than that of Vets Now. The cost to me was just shy of £1200 for consultation, 2 doses of paracetomol, fluids, blood pressure check and blood tests and 7 hours of monitoring. Shocking

In all honesty. The nurse seemed to know right away what was up with my dog and helped me quite alot. She couldn’t prescribe tablets ect as I had to see an actual “vet”. Once seeing the vet I was basically told the same thing then prescribed tablets as I was aware. £313 to see the “vet” and be told the same thing as the nurse to get tablets. I get it’s out of hours but prices are ridiculous. Yes pet owners should know owning animals can be pricey but praying on those who have to use out of hours to help out furbabies then charging an arm and a leg just to be seen is ridiculous.

I was very worried about the recent weight loss in my geriatric cat; vet Viv was very compassionate & thorough while giving my "little man" a complete check-up; sadly, she could not give him a "clean bill of health" - but at least, now I know what to expect and what I might do to keep him as comfortable as possible as long as he's with me; that's better than not-knowing. Thanks, Viv.

Quick response to emergency but great communication at all times. Staff professional but also responsive to human needs as well as pet's needs. Cost explained at all times.

We brought our 9 year old cat in as an emergency due to continuous vomiting over the last 12 hours. The whole team were friendly and courteous, and our vet handled our stressed out boy confidently and calmly with fabulous empathy. Despite it being almost 11pm when we came in, the team really did handle everything professionally and quickly. Everything was explained clearly and costs very transparent and upfront. Really very happy overall, and can't thank the vet on duty enough!

The vet we saw put us at ease as we thought our old dog had had a stroke,we thought we were going to lose her.We felt that she knew what she was talking about, examined our dog thoroughly with respect for her.
Apart from the cost of the out of hours service, which I was aware of.
Price is high but what price do you put on my pets life.
The nurse was very professional, knowledgable & friendly, she put me & my daughter at ease.

My Tina, ( cat) had a stroke late at night,I took her to Vets Now at Colwyn Bay, arrived at 00.45 am and the staff were so wonderfull, she was diagnosed with chronic heart failure, fluid on lungs and possible blood clot on brain. After long sympathetic talk,I decided to let my little buddy go, didn't want her to suffer ( I'm crying whilst I type this ) The staff did not hurry me and they were so wonderful. Today in the post I received a wonderful hand written note of condolence and a little packet of seeds to scatter on her grave, that was so touching and makes you realise there are truely wonderful, caring people out there. Vets Now at Colwyn Bay, a very big thank you

I would like to say how amazing the service was. The gentleman I spoke to initially was very calm and understanding, just what I needed and then the help, care, empathy and advice I received from Sylvia and Tanja was amazing. I can't thank you all enough

Jen and the ladies were amazing with our poorly little dog. They were very caring and professional and diagnosed him very quickly. I would not hesitate in using the out of hours service again as it has helped us to make a difficult choice about our little dog.

The vet we saw showed great compassion to our extremely poorly Border Terrier, Dotty.
She took time to thoroughly explain the situation and gave us time to think things over.
