Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Prescribed the wrong dosage which meant I had to return to have it corrected, then supplied 1 days treatment not four so back I went again. £600 to have to correct the vets and dispensers errors on two separate occasions? Grim isn't it? They'll be an auto generated sycophant response to this 1 star review that's meaningless and my review won't effect the vets operation. Don't go if you value your pet. It's that simple.

No more to say ...

I was thinking if is worth or not to write this review because nothing will bring me back my beloved furry baby.l got there as a emergency, after my 8 years old cat was misdiagnosed by 2 doctors in his 4 last days of life .l didn't agree with their diagnostic of cystitis, l am not a vet but my nurse gut told me that something serious is going on. I saw the third doctor ,a very professional and dedicated one ,she told me after un urgent clinical assessment ,blood test and ultrasound, that my cat has thromboembolism and he is dying. I am a nurse for 3 decades , l realised the prognostic is guarded but also ,the importance of an urgent anticoagulant .as l was absolutely desperated ,couldn't accept to put him to sleep before trying everything that l could ever do ,no matter the price
The day care vet called VetsNow to find out if they have the anticoagulant.the doctor from there said that she has an replacement not the actual one ,eventually they can issue a prescription to buy from human pharmacy.therefore he was transferred at VetsNow. When l got there , the first question l asked was what medication do you need ,where shall l get it from ?? The vet answer was , ,,actually we don't have the anticoagulant...,let's monitor over the night, because the clot may brake down by itself " really??? Not on that stage ..
I been told to go home and came back in the morning as the clinic will be busy over night ( not even a fly was there all this time ..)
I got there 19:30 -20 ,at 22:30 l had a feeling that l MUST to go back there urgent .l found him in agony, worse then l left him, fighting for air ,in pain ,l could hear the constriction in lungs and larynx , 2 members of staff holding him left and right to make him stand, telling me that he walked few steps ( this is part of experiment not assessment, dear doctor ) ,when he couldn't even hold the head or limbs you make him walk??
THAT WAS A MACABRE CIRCUS SCENE , he was dying , neurological experiments on him needed , really??? Or the £4000 MRI scan and brain surgery l was suggested if he survived the night . What that link with thromboembolism???
Not even a relevant blood test for thromboembolism was done . Charged for placement IV chateter and some blood tests, even the only one catheter was inserted by the previous vet .
DEAR VetsNow OWNER, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU SEE YOUR BELOVED ONE IN AGONY BEEING AN EXPERIMENT??? ( he wasn't just a cat for me ,he was with me threw lots bad moments in my life )
DEAR VetsNow OWNER, HOW YOU CAN RUN A EMERGENCY VET CLINIC WITHOUT AN ANTICOAGULANT??? THE PETS DON'T CAME FOR GROOMING AND NEIL CUTS THERE !
DEAR OWNER WHY YOUR VET MISLEADED ABOUT HAVING THE ANTICOAGULANT?????
Trying to get desperated clients like me ???
l accepted your costs with 0 hesitation hoping if not having a chance at least the doctor could keep him pain free in his last moments
I ENDED UP PAYING FOR A MACABRE CYRCUS ...😔
DEAR EMERGENCY DOCTOR VET WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU IS CONFIDENCE , PROFESIOBALISM AND HONESTY,COMPASSION FOR YOUR PATIENT , not for us
If the compassion for pet owner is not real , don't do it ,simple... Because what l saw was a contorsion on your face muscles trying to FAKE the compassion ,compleated the image of the circus as a clown. And l am saying this with all respect.
he deteriorated massively ,l realised more then the vet realised that this is the end and l need to stop the agony . I beged for a strong painkiller to go back home holding him to die peacefully in my arms as l didnt have the strength to sign the euthanasia consent, but all l got was a speech about ethics in vets..IS IT ETICAL TO LIE IN HAVING THE RIGHT MEDICATION, dear Dr ???
I been left with no choice... then to put him to sleep to stop the agony. it was the hardest decision in my life... ,I left the place at midnight holding tight his dead body, after l paid £1030 the circus and experiments
I been Told l wasn't charged for everything. Then l asked what was free ? "THE AIR "was the answer ... l though she said about the oxigen, but it was billed £42 for O2 .she was right ,just the AIR WAS FREE ,for circus l paid

Change your vet if they use this provider

Firstly please look at the five star review I wrote about a different vets now a year ago. The difference is extraordinary and apparent. I hope it shows I'm balanced and objective. So, to this review: I'm not qualified to comment on the clinical care however we received varying opinions as to requirements and plan from individual practitioners treating my dog which demonstrates a less than cohesive team. It gets worse I'm afraid. There's a two hour window of this cover ending and my vet opening. When this was discussed they decided the recommended algorithm that was crucial and "gold standard" was suddenly more flexible and unnecessary. We were effectively ejected from the clinic and told to sit our dog in our car and just wait until our vet opened. My vet then made repeated calls to get the medical records that hadn't been sent through so they could continue treatment. I had to go via companies house to find there registered office in Scotland to demand the records. A great shame my vet has decided to use this out of hours provider as we are now leaving the practice after 15 years. You'll see Vets Now have added an entirely insincere response about contacting them. I had done so prior to posting this review and was pinged an ambivalent, grey response that presumably they use for all their complaints, so don't be fooled that they're remotely bothered.

Terrible experience

Our cat was transferred to Vets Now as it was a Bank Holiday weekend. Straight away it became quite clear that they put money before your pets welfare. Despite giving a full breakdown of our cats symptoms and previous medical history they still managed to treat him for an injury that was sustained 11 years ago and was now nothing but a scar of the injury, which had also been explained to the vet and was on records.
Because we didn't pick the phone up at 11.30pm (due to being asleep) they went ahead and treated for this. The illness our cat was suffering for was something he had been suffering from previously, however this was not acknowledged and the overall result was a £1200 + bill and our cat in a worse condition than when he went in. We eventually went back to our vets and they treated him for the condition successfully.
Having challenged Vets Now they showed no remorse or sympathy and sent us continuous pushy payment reminders despite the case being under dispute. There was attempt to understand us other that one sided emails from them.
Sadly our cat passes away shortly after due to the illness he should have been treated for.

Hi Ligia, I know it can be frustrating having to pay for an unplanned trip to the vets. Much like it is for other out-of-hours services in other industries, It's more expensive to run an out-of-hours pet emergency service than a general daytime practice. We've broken down where our costs go here if you'd like to find out more: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/.

Be prepared for long wait

Cant fault the staff, however there was no triage for pets waiting, we ended up waiting nearly 3 hours with a very stressed doggie. Report not sent to our own vet ready for the emergency visit to them the next day. Parking area also limited to 2 hours so had to move our car whilst waiting to be seen.
