Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We turned up at the clinic early hours of a Sunday morning with Archie our cocker puppy and the staff were prompt and very professional. They are not our usual vets as we don't live nearby but if we did live in that area we would have no hesitation to take our lovely beloved pets there for treatment.

When I phoned the vets on the Sunday morning, my greyhound was in a lot of pain with his shoulder, and they was really kind and helpful, and when I took him down to see them they sorted him out...fantastic

We had to visit the out of hours team at vets now on Saturday evening - my pug had become quite distressed with her breathing - she had lots of issues going on - and was advised to take her the emergency vets. Have to say they were very caring and explained everything that we needed to know. Our dog was cared for lovingly- unfortunately we had to have her put to sleep but she was treated with love and dignity - they gave us a paw print of her little feet which we weren't expecting and a little bottle with a peice of her fur in - which i will treasure ❤️ forever-"they were just lovely - and they made a very sad situation bearable. 5🌟

I had to go to the out of hours vet((Vets Now) as my own practice was closed. My dog had a quite severe attack of gastroenteritis and because he’s epileptic and wasn’t able to keep his meds down I was concerned re the possibility of him fitting if the upset stomach carried on much longer. The vet my dog saw was thorough and informative. My dog was examined, I was questioned on symptoms and frequency and then he was given appropriate medication. This kicked in quite quickly although my dog was quite subdued for a further twelve hours but pleased to say after which he was back to normal maniacal ways!

The actual service was good, efficient and lovely, knowledgable staff but so overpriced it was shocking.
I completely understand now how some people can’t afford emergency treatment. Over £400 for less than 5 mins with vet, anti sickness injection and prebiotic paste.

Very knowledgeable vets, Dylan got better very soon after visit. Very expensive but obviously out of hours is going to be. Worth every penny for our brilliant boy!

Receptionist and Veterinary Surgeon were very helpful
and answered all the questions asked.
Knowing that our Golden Retriever was being looked after post operatively by dedicated staff gave us a degree of comfort.

Veterinary service is excellent but the back office processes are somewhat obscure.

Took our bulldog to Vets Now in the early hours of the morning as she was struggling to breathe after surgery.
She received the best care and the action the vet took saved her life.
Will be forever grateful.

Once your regular vet closes (overnight, weekend or whatever) you are really forced to use this emergency vet if you need urgent treatment. This was the second time I have had to take a pet to them - the first time I gave them 5 stars, and would have given them more, for the treatment our pet dog received, even though the outcome was not successful. This time although we felt a suspected poisoning required urgent treatment, we were left waiting for some time before any action was taken. From that point on the service was again excellent and he received all the appropriate treatment.
The thing to note is that it is not cheap and they require payment up front, although insurance does cover most of the cost. They will also help with the insurance process afterwards, although I didn't need it as my insurance claim was paid almost immediately.
Whilst I hope I will not have to use them again, if my pet needs emergency treatment them I know they will be there.

Under such stressful circumstances, both Vet and Nurse gave us peace of mind that the very best care would be given and it was. Cannot thank them enough.

It is absolutely shocking that you charge nearly £300 to see a poorly animal. You play on the emotions of pet owners. Whilst I appreciate you have overheads I do feel this is extortionate on top of the over inflated prices you charge for medicine, blood tests and X-rays. You totally rely on people having insurance.

I was very worried about my dog vet was honest and explained everything the team were professional and friendly.

It was very expensive just to check his heart rate and temperature and that was without drugs luckily for me my dog was OK and is recovering and fortunate to have the funds available JUST if I had waited until the morning it would of been A LOT cheaper i don't believe that the vets are in that much money per hour???
