Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Found the vet knowledge but not very caring and being an emergency appointment massively expensive.

Treatment of our dying pet was compassionate but information provided about using our pet insurance policy was utterly inadequate. We were told that the vet would initiate this process and should be left with them. We subsequently received a bill for uncovered costs above our initial payment. We made a phone call to find out what the problem was to be told that they never initiated an insurance claim and need to pay up. All Vetsnow appear to care about is the money.

We visited during the night as our little Maggie was very poorly, the staff were amazing and checked Maggie over and gave us the reassurance we needed that she was ok and not in any danger.

Fantastic prompt professional and friendly service. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. They knew exactly what to do to help my Siberian Husky Sky. Thanks to them she is now back to her friendly loony self.

Lack of communication when it comes to sorting bill when going through insurance company, when we asked how to proceed the vet nurse just looked at us with a blank expression and said I don’t work here but I think you should fill in the forms she didn’t tell us where to send them or anything

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! All they are is a money churning business. My cat was hit by a car and they spent 2 minutes examining my cat to be discharged with muscle damage to his leg and inadequate painkillers with the wrong leaflet. I took my cat to my normal vets two days later to find out he has a broken pelvis, fractured sternum and a dislodged spine. They left my cat in agony which is veterinary malpractice. Nearly £400 for this service. Disgusting morals for a business who are supposed to be there in your animals time of need. Complaints procedure is even worse as they dont assign a customer service representative to your case, you have multiple ones and it takes 35 days to get a resolution as they will struggle to contact the vets that were on call that day. Laughable excuse for an all round despicable company!

1 star because 0 isn't possible!
I will start by saying my experience was due to Vets Now being the emergency vets I was forced into through my vets out of hours phone system. They are NOT my chosen vets!
But I will NEVER forget the words spoken to me while my dog dies in front of me with them on the phone.
"Before you come I need to make you aware of the costs involved and I need to confirm you can pay"
Then when my poor doggy had passed and we were asking what we should do, "well you can put it in a box in the garage until Monday and take it to your local vet"
YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.
I cannot believe this is the attitude you have towards peoples pets - you know animals - the things you're supposed to care about.

Rang vets now when my kitten chewed a lily petal. I was told to ring animal poisons which I did £45. Vets Now have an article on web site re lily poisoning!!!
Arrived and waited over an hour. 3 options given. No treatment given. £342!!!! Disgusting amount to be charged. If it was the middle of the night I could understand it but it was4.00 on a Sunday. Legalised robbery !!!
The next morning I changed my vet to an ethical private practice not a money making practice that feeds off people worry and concerns.

Absolutely no problem with the care and attention our spaniel received after he snaffled up something very toxic on a walk. The vet was brilliant. However, they took a £250 deposit from me at the time on my de bit card. I then arranged for my insurance to pay the claim minus my excess, which they did, although they wouldn't pay the company's admin fee of £25 This means I'd overpaid by £115. I've had to email and call about 5 times to get a refund- which, four days after them taking my bank details (which they must have had already), still hasn't arrived. Plus, why am I charged an admin fee? I organised the insurance claim and have had to call/email on 5 occasions. All I got for my £25 were several automatically generated emails/texts reminding me to pay, even long after the claim had gone through. "If you have already paid, please ignore this message" doesn't justify a £25 charge. As for the automated reply to my complaint. I've been in almost contact with you by email since 23rd August (it's now the 10th September) and still you haven't issued my refund.

It was extremely expensive to use this service due yo being a Sunday. I could totally understand it being £320 to be seen had the surgery been opened specifically to see me but there were 8 patients there being seen on the day so 11 times the consultation of my normal vet is ridiculous
I then mad to pay the full balance
Its been over a week and still no response to my insurance company
£70 for a bandage is not something i can afford

We needed to visit a vet very late at night. We were unfamiliar with the area but were given good and clear instruction as to where the surgery was. When we arrived two staff members were waiting at the door to meet us. They were cheerful, professional and above all very reassuring. The patient is a dog which we are caring for and so their prompt attention and reassurance was very much appreciated - A HUGE THANK YOU.
