Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 300 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently struggled with extremely long hold times, unhelpful automated bots, and phone menus that repeatedly disconnected calls instead of offering real assistance. Consumers also reported frustrating delays with home installations, unreturned calls, and unresolved technical problems that left households without a stable connection for days. However, some customers also noted that certain staff members were polite, understanding, and genuinely helpful when finally reaching a real person. A few reviewers mentioned instances where technicians or agents managed to successfully resolve equipment issues and arrange alternative solutions.

Disappointing Service and Unresolved Complaints

I signed a 12-month contract with Virgin Media on 23 June 2026 for broadband and TV at €55 per month.

While my broadband was activated in June, my TV service wasn't installed until 14 September, almost three months later, and only because I contacted Virgin Media myself.

I submitted a formal complaint in September and received an automated acknowledgement, but no further response or resolution.

On 23 October, I contacted customer service again after receiving a bill for €88.99 instead of the agreed €55. Although the additional charge was eventually explained, the representative repeatedly failed to understand or address my concerns about the delayed installation.

I have now submitted a second formal complaint and escalated the matter to ComReg.

I find it unacceptable that a company can fail to deliver an agreed service, leave a formal complaint unanswered for weeks, and then provide such poor customer support when challenged.

Extremely disappointing customer service from Virgin Media. I expected much better.

Virgin Media Ireland

Virgin Media Ireland – Absolutely Terrible Service

Absolutely terrible customer service and internet performance. I'm paying for 1 Gigabit broadband but only getting around 600 Mbps. The signal is poor, and the customer service has been nothing short of disgraceful.

My contract is up this week, and I honestly couldn't be happier to leave. Paying €50 a month for a service like this is ridiculous.

My advice: stay well clear of Virgin Media Ireland. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Incorrect billing and contradictory support

Incorrect billing and contradictory customer support

Cancelling my Virgin Media broadband involved repeated contact with support over a duplicate €150 cancellation fee and conflicting information about my final balance.

I first raised the issue with a support agent in September, who said they would look into it. I then had to follow up again.

On 8 October, another agent confirmed in writing that my balance was zero. I specifically asked whether anything remained payable, and he said “the bill is paid” and that any further bill should be zero.

Yet on 20 October, my online billing page still displayed €160.66 as “Overdue,” with a “Pay now” button. The bill details also showed €160.66 as the “Total to pay.”

When I contacted support again, I was told that the duplicate €150 fee had been credited on 2 October, leaving €10.66 outstanding. The agent explained that the credit was applied after the bill was issued, but the billing page still presented the original amount as overdue. He acknowledged that the previous agent might have been confused, but insisted the €10.66 remained payable.

During the same conversation, he initially said my services ceased on 26 September, then later said my account closed on 23 September, without explaining the difference.

I paid the €10.66 and received written confirmation that the account was closed and no further payments would be requested.

Although the duplicate fee was credited, resolving the billing issue involved repeated follow-ups from September into October, and the explicit assurance that nothing remained payable proved incorrect. I found the experience frustrating and unnecessarily stressful.

Customers should be able to rely on accurate billing information and clear answers from support without repeatedly chasing the same issue.

This is the worst mobile service…

This is the worst mobile service company I’ve ever been in touch with! It’s really really bad! For everyone who’s moving to Ireland never get this service even though it’s cheaper than others. The customer service is awful and people in the shop can’t really help you either! The same for what concerns the app and when you call them. If you decide to cancel your subscription before the one year they’re gonna charge you all the months left till the end of the year, which is crazy!( it might be more than 100€ for not being able to use the service!!). If I could give it a zero or -1 star I definitely would.

Called twice today speaking to a bot who eventually on the second time redirected me to a real person, put on hold for 20 mins to speak to the real person, that person redirected me to another person which meant I was on hold for another 17 mins, that person then put me through to a third person.. so I was on hold for another 15mins to a person who was telling me the same thing as the second person.. what a waste of time . Contract now cancelled. Get your act together Virgin media.. madness!!

Switched to Virgin Media , Mobile Data a sham

Switched to Virgin Media for Broadband and TV , No issue there , also decided to switch family mobile plan to stream line billing .. was not told unlimited mobile data was 4g at very best .. was also told I would not be billed for sims until they were in use , from the start service was very poor , got in touch straight away with the customer service chat bot numerous times could not get a resolution, by the time I reached out to call centre my cooling off period was lapsed a couple of days , I explained that the mobile plan was not fit for purpose for my family and wanted it cancelled, with all my reasoning with them they have refused and will bill me for the full term of contract.. I hope others see this , I will pulling all my products from this company due to their hoodwinking business practices

Spent all day on the phone

Spent all day trying to pay a bill and couldn't get into my online account, and when I rang and told the AI my account number, it didn't recognise it and hung up, and when I spoke to an agent, they would send me to a different department.

Three weeks to set up, repeated overcharging, and no human help

I've had a poor experience with Virgin Media Ireland, and I'm sharing the facts so others can decide for themselves.

It took three weeks to set up any service.

A technician booking took more than three weeks to get.

Their automated support kept me in a loop for 40 minutes without a single concrete answer.

I was charged more than expected, with no prior notice or reminder.

I couldn't set up a direct debit because their system would not accept my Revolut Irish IBAN. A valid SEPA IBAN should be accepted for euro direct debits, so this looks like a system fault on their side.

I have raised a formal complaint and will take it to ComReg if it isn't resolved. I'd like a full refund of the overcharges, compensation for the delay, and a named person who can fix this.

Save your energy and mental state. Stay away from them.

I have no idea why they waste their time on advertisements! once you sign up it is just a complete waste of time. A month in, still no broadband at my place, appointment cancelled twice, and now my subscription is cancelled. You waste hours waiting on the phone to talk to the customer support, everything they say is incorrect. It actually is mind blowing how horrible dealing with these people is! Wasted a whole month. I am going back to my original provider.

Support is appalling.

The AI support is appalling.
The telephone support is appalling.
The technical expertise of the install personnel is basic.

Entire home runs off Asus Mesh Wifi connected to the Hub3. Virgin media install a hub5 and there is no option to enable bridge [modem] mode so entire home network is affected. I could revert to using their sagecomm but that's one wifi6 over 4 floors. Tried the technical doing install at the time and he looked at me like I was mad. Tried the tech support and they hadn't a clue. This company is ran by idiots

They get one star because there's no…

They get one star because there's no lower option. I had the €15pm mobile deal which is supposed to cover Europe as well as Ireland. When I got to Malta on holidays My sim was switched off so had to buy an esim. Spent too long messaging a useless AI bot and when I eventually got to talk to support they had no explanation why the Sim was off. TWO WEEKS later support said there was a problem with the sim so they'd send me a new one. The new Sim came but wasn't activated so had to contact "support" again who advised me to wait 15 minutes and it will be done. I got no call/text anything to say that it was activated just had to keep turning WiFi on and off to check. Anyway All was grand until last Saturday when the new Sim was turned off for no reason. There's no so called support at the weekend so had to wait until Monday to get reconnected, I've asked several times why was both Sims turned off but always got fobbed off by support people that said they didn't know why. What a waste of time, energy and money. Went back to Vodafone yesterday and all's good again.
