Why pay for an accreditation when so many accommodation providers show FAKE stars!!

If you had an original Rolex your friends (Unless you are a millionaire) would think it’s a good copy of which there are lots available these days. So why pay a lot of money to have an accreditation from Visit England when so many places show fake ratings!

In the UK Booking.com randomly allows hotels & guest houses to show a star rating in their advert on their website. However the reality is that many of these establishments have NO STARS at all!

Before booking check on Visit England’s official site to see if the star rating is real, or FAKE. If they are not on Visit England or the AA then the rating is FAKE

Don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself. You will be surprised just how many show false star ratings!

Having said that Visit England informed me that when an accommodation provider’s establishment isn’t refurbished etc and they believe they may lose a star, then they just don’t bother renewing the following year BUT still claim to have the star rating that they display which could be as much as 20 years old.

You may ask how do I know all this. The answer is because I have a guest house which does very well but by not having a star rating we do lose custom to competitors who I discovered have FAKE ratings and for over 15 months now have battled with trading standard to make the offending guest houses/hotels remove their fake stars with little success.

My advice is before booking anywhere is check the reviews on trip advisor for the real facts about the guest house/hotel that you are considering booking.
