Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the user experience, frequently encountering issues like terrible matchmaking with constant "uptiers" where they faced much stronger opponents. Customers also felt that the game's pricing and value for money were poor, often describing it as "pay to win" and criticizing the need to spend money to progress or acquire better vehicles. Some people also felt that the product's quality was ambiguous, with concerns about overpowered premium vehicles and perceived national bias in vehicle performance and game mechanics. However, a few other people also felt that the game was enjoyable and that many of the complaints stemmed from a "skill issue" or playing the wrong mode, highlighting that it is a free-to-play game with good graphics.

The company acts like soviets are used to be treated by their government and think it's normal in the rest of the world. They censored/removed chat feature because of internal affairs and never noticed their customers, they arbitrarily deleted the only mention of this in their forum, they charge ridiculous prices for garbage and they block any attempts to reach them with suggestions. Every single change they make is usually for the worse.

Its not just me then!

Read the reviews. Wow! I thought my lack of success was that i just sucked at tank and aircraft warfare, seems Im not alone.
Been playing this on and off for about a year and Ive never been so frustrated and angry about a game.
Cheaters shoot you through walls, they dont appear on the maps but know exactly where you are, I get one shotted after blasting a t34 11 times at point blank range and no damage done to him, spawn camping reetz are a real issue, especially those with what appear to be untouchable tanks like the m1A1.
Seems to take absolutely ages to get anywhere and then you find yourself blown to bits by some itzy bitzy little tank with a pea shooter for a gun.
I dont get it, I dont see how it can be so badly slanted in favor of some players and tank types.
Greedy developers are a main source of hostility and need to go.
The rewards just are worth the pain they put you through to get them.
My advice? Go pull your fingernails out with pliers, itll hurt less than playing this game.

This game is total garbage

This game is total garbage
This game is total garbage.
1º no balance, majority of your games you gona lose.
2º vehicles are very unrealistic, they have this "realistic" and simulator game modes that are just some arcadish crap.
3º is p2w to a point that even the normal vehicles or planes are not playable unless you spend money to "research" some BS modules.
4º The comunity is hot garbage, many nazi lovers will cry about "russian bias" while their german tanks are the best in the game, and are most used by hackers.
5º Cheaters yes there are many, same as in CS in everygame you will encounter one.
6º maps are hot garbage and not suitable for the top vehicles or planes.

I play this game for a long time and is pure cancer.

Problem: Cheating, Game design, Pay wall

Problem:
First, the balance. Paid items are overpowered compare to non paid items, paid tanks and planes have more hit points, better defense status. example: my m1a1 600mm penetration cannon shoots through russian tanks on its rear, 2s driver stopped maingun shell, 10+ shots on t80 8 bounce 2 yellow hit... Meanwhile russian tank one hit nuke my m1 tank. Air battle isn't any better. Mig21 crashed into my a10, I lost a wing, lost control and went down, but mig21 is not damaged at all. Did test drive on premium mig21 and f5c, f5c has shorter delay compare to non premium f5 when I move the cursor, but... Mig21 is way better, it immediately responses when I move the cursor, it performs like japanese ww2 plane. It can fly straight up like rocket but barely lose any speed. Wow, gaijin is russian company, gaijin favors russian tanks and planes, but this is too much.
Second, the grinding, remember that "You are not supposed to make progress without pay for premium".
Third, the most important is, CHEATING. Gaijin keeps lying about "it is impossible to cheat in war thunder", meanwhile thousands copies of ESP were sold via disscord, youtube, twitter. Hundreds of thousands copies were sold in China. Social media is taken over by gaijin staff and cheaters, whenever someone point out the cheating problem, instant censored. 6k cheaters were banned in last month, but vast majority of them are auto silver lion farming botters and cheap turds using arcade esp on rb game mode. Now they are back, and started rage hacking.
Anyone with 3+ kd ratio in rb mode is suspicious, especially when the game is full of cheaters. Some of those cheaters have kd ratio higher than 10, but never got banned, played for years.
Gaijin doesn't care about cheating, as long as the cheaters keep buying overpriced premium items.
PS: rumor has it, esp on the market was made by gaijin employees, gaijin is the biggest esp dealer.

Rubbish Garbage Trash game.

Rubbish Garbage Trash game.

IF you are F2P player never pay for this game, finally you will find
1. Always losing team.
2. Enemy team always full of Cheaters.
3. Enemy team always some LV0~19 accounts they aren't Human Being. It's fake player -- the Super AI , its duty is killing F2P players first.
4. Your vehicle HP less than those P2W players, same as penetration、damage effect, in addition your aviation vehicle hitbox is big, P2W players' are small.

Don't Play.

Do you love Grind in a game?

It's a great game if you like being told how superior China And Russia are to all other country's
Bots ,Auto clickers and scripts galore oh my.....
I seriously do not believe they actually have any kind of vaild ND working anticheat
And if you like playing against entire teams of premium accounts hacking like there's no tomorrow
There's also a pretty major bias in game torwards Russia and Germany Early game
And if your a free player and not premium , your literally just fodder for the premium players to level up on

The game is only after money

The game is only after money. Comments are always referred to an email address and you will never receive a response. While playing you quickly discover that tanks that have invested a lot of money also eliminate you very quickly, even if you play with four different tanks. This game is just as out for money as World of Tanks, also a Russian developer just like Gaijin. They are not there for the gamers but for their own gain. Do not download so it is a waste of your time and money.

I'd give this game 0/5 if it were an option.
I've tried this game some 10+ years ago and it was as bad as it is now.
No new game modes, gameplay is pretty much the same, but with more vehicles you have to grind through.
They literally give you no option but to pay your way through, but marketing themselfs as free to play game.
No real tutorial, and the one that's in game doesn't correlate with actual gameplay - no teamwork at all.

War Thunder tech support nonexistent

War Thunder tech support is nonexistent. I have tried and tried to contact them to no avail. There is no way to submit a ticket or contact them. I have reinstalled the game and now my ENTIRE group of planes are gone. The game wants me to start at the beginning. All of my premium planes, which I paid money for, plus all my other planes I earned are gone. It is IMPOSSIBLE to contact them. I will play some other brand of games instead of Gaijin unless they can fix this..

Gaijin refuses to help me solve my problem / wasted time and money

My son mistakenly opened 2 accounts with almost the same address (one had a hyphen and one didn't). He then bought golden eagles and they were transferred onto the wrong account. I asked for a transfer of these golden eagles onto the right account. I've been trying to do so for 2 months, have written many messages (proving that WE bought and paid for the golden eagles), but the person who answers my emails is fussy and shows extremely bad will. They don't want to help. I definitely do not recommend using any Gaijin games. So far our problem is still not solved... after 2 months and a lot of time wasted. Despite the fact that the situation is very clear. Shame !!!

Heavy pay to win + Russian bias they…

Heavy pay to win + Russian bias they aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

They've nerfed British tanks into the ground its completely unbalanced and unfair. With recent br changes its made it worse.... especially 8.0 vs 9.0 tanks ap/solid + HEAT shells without laser range finders do absolutely nothing to most vehicles all while the enemy with range finders just hit your tank once and you're dead... not forgetting the unfairness of AA for brits the radar does not work and has very little ammo that does nothing but critical hit all while Germans and russian AA have radars that work and tons of ammo they can shoot all game without running out.
Gaijin just pretend to fix problems and never listens to its community/player base all because of corporate greed.

The BRs really need a good looking at for balance but I doubt gaijin will ever sort it.

DONT Waste your time or money

DONT Waste your time or money, the game matches players with lower battle rating against those much higher so you have little or no chance of winning. UNLESS! you spend a lot of money, Premium account plus maxing out the modifications and Crew training and getting top tier tanks planes or ships. there is an anti cheat but it isnt worth a damn. when you can be hit when behind buildings for cover others can shot through. steer clear of this game as its only here to earn money for the company.

Economy fix did literally nothing

Economy fix did literally nothing. Top tier like Leopard 2A6 is not worth the 6k lions for repairs alone that's not including crew replenishment which is 2k each. You only get 1,752 lions per kill at top tier without a premium account. Do the math. That means you have to get at least 5 kills minimum each game to break even. And with players who spawn once, die, leave the game you'll probably be through last one alive. For example. I played top tier, died in an Leopard 2A6, A5, and PL, cost to repair was 17,286 lions, and crew replenishment was 8,080, For a grand total loss of -25,366 lions total.i had gotten 4 kills, for a total of 7,008 lions, I earned 15,725 lions from that match. In total I lost about -9,614 from one match.
