This is now the fourth review we have posted regarding the same unresolved issue: our VoIP phone is still not working.
The problem was first reported on 25 May 2026, and we were assured that it would be resolved within 48 hours. It is now almost three months later. Despite countless messages and follow-ups, our VoIP service remains non-functional, while Webafrica continues to bill us for a service that we are simply not receiving.
Following our third review, we received one SMS and one telephone call, and that was the extent of the follow-up. Nothing has been resolved.
What is particularly frustrating is that the responses to our reviews are filled with promises that are never followed through with meaningful action. At this point, the responses have become meaningless. After four reviews about the exact same issue, one would reasonably expect management to take ownership and ensure that the problem is actually resolved.
Unfortunately, our experience has been that customer service is not a priority for Webafrica. If you are looking for a service provider that offers reliable service, effective communication and professional customer support, based on our experience, we cannot recommend Webafrica.
We have heard the promises before. At this stage, another response to this review will simply be words unless it is followed by actual action and a working VoIP service.

What a bunch of incompetent people working there, always referring the problem to somewhere else, even if you provide a screenshot of the issue with an explanation from a 3rd party and evidence of the issue, and still no feedback or assistance. Better to cancel and move to a service provider that can and will assist; just don't have the time or energy to deal with them anymore

Been with them for 8 years, they put me on a special more expensive plan without tellnig me, charging R400 a montho more to avoid R1000 cancellation fee. They claim this is to recover hardware costs, but I have had the equipment for 8 years. in that time it has never worked properly and they have never ever sent anyone to fix the issue.

Webafrica Customer Service
Over the past couple of days, the waiting times on Webafrica’s Live Chat have been absolutely horrendous. I’ve experienced long waiting times before, but never to this extent.
Considering Live Chat is one of the main methods of contacting customer support, this level of service is simply unacceptable. I’ve also emailed the complaints department and am still waiting for a response.
For a reputable company, I honestly expected much better. Customer service is a huge part of the overall customer experience, and right now, Webafrica is seriously falling short.
I’m genuinely considering cancelling my services—not because of the product itself, but because getting assistance when you actually need it has become such a frustrating experience.
Webafrica, your customer service needs serious attention. This is not the standard paying customers should have to accept.

One word for webafrica and vumatel is BULLSHIT. That's what these companies are. Slow internet, slow customer service. Everything moves slow here. You guys are my first experience with a big incompetence and inconvenient company.

I spoke to 32 agents and multiple fake promises to upgrade my line, i even get charged for a faster line. I have tried cancelling aswell. its been 2 months of going back and forth. The worst service provider

First of all. I'm a new customer and one would think that when you are a new customer to their services they would priorities you but unfortunately not.
I've been chatting to WEBAFRICA SUPPORT for almost two weeks now and been told that my REFUND would in my account 2-5 working days, they've been telling me this for TWO SOLID WEEKS just a different agent. I was told that they would contact me via email as well and still nobody has been in contact with me. I even called the WEBAFRICA SUPPORT LINE and the lady said they will be in touch but still haven't received no feedback from them.
WEBAFRICA CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS GENUINELY REALLY VERY BAD.

I put in an order for a move of house on the 29th June, we were moving from Openserve to Octotel. I even at one point got a call from Octotel as they wanted to go to the new property to check the service which they couldn't as the old owners were still in house.
I moved in on the 1st August expecting at least by Monday my wifi would be on
Well what a nightmare its now the 7th August I work from home and have been using my phone data to connect my laptop so I can work. I have tried three times this week on WA and also Web Chat to get some resolve on my internet. We'll three days ago I was told by provisioning that I will wait 24 - 48 hours to get it one, today Friday morning I then get told the Admin team will hook me up between 24- 48 hours. The company is a joke to say the least does anyone in any departments know what they are actually doing. I dont think so, its 2026 not 1916!!

Absolutely abominable service. I cancelled my account and over a month later waiting for them to close it out and release the fiber to the next service provider. Hidden fees, excuses, delays.
Their service is trash.

I have been a customer since 2023 and when I cancelled they took R999 from me, after I already returned the router and was told it was part of the T&C's, however during the initial package nobody told me this and IT IS NOT SIGNED ON A CONTRACT!!
After dealing with numerous agents on whatsapp and calls, every agent is confused and the last one said they dont call customers!!!
HERE ARE ALL THE AGENTS I SPOKE TO AND I HOPE THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS!!!
THABANG - TODAY TOLD ME THEY DONT CALL CLIENTS???
MAKI - JUST TRANSFERS ME WITHOUT INFO
SINDISIWE - ADVISED ME THAT SALES NEED TO HELP ME SINCE IT WAS SALES THAT DID NOT ADVISE ME ACCORDINGLY.
NOMVULA - FROM THE PROVISIONS TEAM JUST TRANSFERS ME AGAIN WITHOUT ADVISING OR HELPING.
All of these agents I have had to type the same messages and waste MY TIME! Whose going to refund my time?
NOBODY TOLD ME ABOUT THIS CHARGE SINCE THE BEGINNING - CHECK YOUR SYSTEM, BUT THIS ISNT MY PROBLEM!
EDIT: ***MYREPLY***
THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED DOES NOT EVEN EXIST!!!
I WILL BE HANDING THIS OVER TO THE CONSUMER COUNCIL.

This is a follow up review, since I have still not received the information I requested. I started this journey on 20 July 2026, today is 4 August 2026.
After 5 days of struggling to get hold of someone, I received a response (which was unfortunately not the format that would be accepted by SARS.) I then reached out again to request a new document and the following played out: no response / wrote a 1-star review / was sent a "change of ownership form" of someone else (POPI act who?) as well as the original incorrect document again / replied / was sent incorrect doc / replied / was sent statements from 2018 - 2026 (!!) / replied / am told I can go on my Webafrica profile to download statements (like I haven't tried that yet).
Am I speaking to AI that is unable to understand + convey English terms? My experience with companies that have been known to be challenging (mobile network providers) have been absolutely pleasant compared to this. Your inability to action an extremely simple request is SHOCKING.

I signed up for a Webafrica Vumatel 30/30 Mbps promotional package in December 2025 after accepting the offer via WhatsApp. The promotion was advertised at R395/month for the first two months, increasing to R489/month thereafter.
After my service was activated, I was billed R799/month instead. My account statements reflect these charges, and I have asked Webafrica to explain why my billing does not match the package I accepted.
When I queried the charges on WhatsApp, I was told my service had been terminated for non-payment and that I owed a R999 termination fee. However, my latest Webafrica statement shows a R0.00 balance and records my most recent payment, which appears to contradict what I was told.
I attempted to escalate the matter by email, only to receive an automated response stating that the mailbox is no longer monitored and that support is handled via WhatsApp.
I am simply asking Webafrica to:
* explain the discrepancy between the promotional price and my monthly charges;
* explain why I was told my account was terminated despite my statement showing a zero balance; and
* resolve the matter promptly.
I will update this review once the issue has been investigated and resolved.
Update (6 August 2026): Following Webafrica’s public response, I attempted to contact the email address they instructed me to use. The address returned a 550 “Invalid Recipient” error because it does not exist. I also attempted to contact their general support email, but my message was rejected by their mail server. Despite this, I still have not received confirmation that my billing dispute has been formally registered, nor have I been provided with a dispute reference number or a substantive response.
I have retained screenshots of these failed contact attempts and all correspondence should they be required.

I signed up expecting clear and transparent pricing, but my experience has been the opposite.
After paying R579, I was suddenly told I had an additional outstanding balance of R224.13 without any prior explanation. When I contacted customer support to understand the charge, I repeatedly asked what it was for, whether it would be a monthly payment, and what a "speed fee" meant. Unfortunately, my questions were not answered clearly. Instead, I received vague and confusing responses that left me even more frustrated.
Good customer service is about providing accurate information and helping customers understand their accounts. I shouldn't have to ask the same questions multiple times just to get a basic explanation of my invoice.
I hope Webafrica improves its communication and billing transparency so that future customers know exactly what they're paying for and can receive clear, helpful support when they have questions.

May you continue serving others, like how you served me.
