Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Trying to get a business credit card and Katarena Macdonald who we have been dealing with has been useless. Weve switched to ANZ. The service has been way better.

Shambolic mortgage services

Renewed our Mortgage with Westpac for the second and last time. They managed to mess up the paperwork and failed to explain an outstanding (interest free) loan would need to be paid off before the new mortgage could start. They wanted us to move it onto the new mortgage and pay interest on it?! In the end they agreed to reinstate the 0% loan but the entire process was so complicated with signing new documents that took over a month to sort out. A complete mess. Never again.

Award For Most Useless Bank

If there was an award for the most stupidest bank, then westpac New Zealand should most definitely win the award. I informed the bank that I was soon leaving the country and would be overseas. Upon arriving overseas the amount of rigmarole involved to transfer funds is ridiculous. To complete a transaction they send a code to a mobile number back in New Zealand that I no longer use. To add a new mobile number for example a family member, takes 30 days. To add an overseas mobile number, they need proof. You need. Lawyer to certify any documents you have, I.e proof of address and passport. This maybe easy to do if you’re in an English speaking country. Which I’m not. You can always just draw money out from a local ATM or use third party companies like transfer wise and western Union, but the fees are not worth it. Please don’t bother wasting your money with westpac. They’re also shut after 8pm New Zealand time, making them difficult to contact with time zones.

Never missed a payment in my life with…

Never missed a payment in my life with their loans, for the first time in years I have to miss one, they said "oh we'll just take that out in full next payment on top of your next payment aswell" they gave no repayment options, they're so money hungry they don't give 2 cents about the people that pay their bills (customers)

They don't place any value on Customer…

They don't place any value on Customer Loyalty or service. Paid off a mortgage after 2 years and they clawed back the FULL cash contribution they offered me. I asked for a pro-rata repayment since there was 1 year left on the term for the cash contribution agreement.
They wouldn't budge. So i will never again be a customer of Westpac. They are only interested in "Front Door" new customers, existing like i was they simply don't care.
Typical of a major bank , take everything and give nothing and here i was penalised for re-paying my loan!!

Customer service at the teller

Customer service at the teller: I find the service from the teller's really rude and unfriendly. My queries aren't answered directly as I ask. And I often get nothing more than a nod. I've banked with Westpac for years. I'd like to change, but other banks are similar. I have made a complaint today - finally. I'll let you know the outcome.

Westpac delays processing transactions

Problems with my debit card. Similar to December, debits only taken off my account several days after purchases. Causes havoc with my accounting. Phoned call centre, person assisting arrogant and not helpful. Told me that this is how it has always worked with mastercard transactions. He made light of the December late debit issues as unnecessary drama. According to him if you buy online or use pay wave then debits taken off several days later. This he says has always been the case with Mastercard. Also transaction dates on my account also change from one day to the other. Friends of mine advised that they do not have these issues with their banks. Suggest everyone stay away from Westpac. It seems that Westpac is only major bank in NZ using Mastercard. My previous bank used Visa, never had any issues. Will try a NZ bank with VISA cards. Hopefully won't have the same issues.

Very poor contact centre service.

For a bank showing the huge profit levels of Westpac, their lack of investment into their contact centre and customer service is disgraceful. They don’t even offer callback with a wait time of over 45 minutes (if you are lucky!). And this was a call to clear a credit card that they had blocked. Contact centre management need to sharpen up and do their job!

I have just waited more than 20 minutes in a queue at westpac palms to get $80 split into $10 notes, that’s all I wanted!!! Only to be told they can’t do that unless I have a Westpac card and it will cost me $5 to do it. What the f****. Where the hell is customer service these days. It’s a b******y bank fir goodness sake!!!!

Rubbish service and Rip off insurance products for existing customers, they refuse to match what they have advertised today just increase premiums but same payout sum you signed up on 10 years ago, can’t even get an overdraft of $100 if your wages is directed to their bank what kind of stupid decision is that? Oh because you will end up in the same situation next time? Ahh heard of one off? Get your $&@! together Westpac!

Threatening to close my account for nothing

Totally out of nowhere today I got an email threatening to close my account if I dont contact the Banking Review Team - which is part of their compliance unit.

What appalling BS I am so angry. My account is always funded - there is nothing odd going on.

They are incompetent. The worst part is all of the other NZ banks are also 2 star garbage.

oppening an account

Myself and wife went into Westpac Napier branch on Tuesday about 1.30pm 11/10/22 to open a joint investment account. the lady on the front desk was very helpful handled everything in a friendly proffessional manner, answered all questions and explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand.She is an asset to the bank.if only more at Westpac were like this helpful staff member.

Went back to branch told can't do anything
Have to ring. Tried to ring 3 hour wait

Very bad customer service.e branch in…

Drove about 45km to the branch in Greymouth to pay an account and was told by the teller that I should do it on-line. I told her the company email said we can go to any branch and pay it. She refused to serve me as a customer and told me again to go and do it on-line. Very very bad customer service. This happened today(13Sep2022 @ midday).

Parasites

Parasites, 26 years of never missing a single mortgage payment meant absolutely nothing, when they declined interest only continuation on our $1m plus loans. Can't wait to sell a property to pay off our loans and move all our rental accounts to another bank. They won't ever get another cent from our company once we rid ourselves of them.. These guys take the word obnoxious to a new level. Nothing short of a disgrace.

Minus One. Whangarei. 40 years with a bank and employees can't manage decent customer service, decent manners, common sense and any hope of actually solving a ridiculous rule. Add conflicting online advice and the cup is full.
Consequence...account closed.

That’s how you treat your ‘valued’ customer ?

Three months ago, I was being told by a branch manger that I can not open an account with Westpac bank due to I was holding a visitor visa only valid for 3 month. The manager told me that they can open account for me if my visa valid for 6 month or above. Today I went back to the bank with my new visitor visa which is valid for 6 month. The staff in this bank told me that they do not open an account for a visitor visa holder at all no matter how long the visa is valid. I don’t understand why I was being told and treated differently by the staff who works in the same bank. Maybe not being trained under the same rules , so I told them if you are not going to open an account for me could you please delete my information in your bank please as I am no longer a customer in your bank anymore and I don’t want to keep my personal information in your system.But the answer I got from the bank staff is “No !” I asked them the reasons why I can not delete my personal information to protect my own privacy. The staff told me there is no reason and that’s the rule! I just feel I was being treated like a joke! Never go back again! Not recommend!
