Westpac is a scammer.
Westpac is a scammer.
I autopay $3985.24 stated in 27/12/24 credit card statement. It appeared on the 1st & 2nd columns of 28/1/25 statement.
The refund by HP $2399 on 17/12/24 should be added on the 2nd column of 28/1/25 statement. Philip of Westpac deceived me & keep my money.
The most horrible traumatic customer…
The most horrible traumatic customer experiences l had repeatedly. My worst nightmares was when my opened bank account dissapeared, bank cards send to the wrong address and my transfers blocked and l was treated like a hostage and interrogated by a bank like a terrorist and when they respond and when you visit them they are very cold and when you visit their branches and see their managers they tell you to go to online and they then spending hrs in the bank with their managers calling their westpack themselves.Westpac Bank based on my horrible terrible traumatic experience does not deserve a star.zthey deserve Negatives not even a star.WESTPAC Do NOT DESERVE A STAR AT ALL BUT NEGATIVES NOT POSOTIVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE Lately except The first 24 months.I jad this bank and account for OVER 15 years and you CANT TRUST OR COUNT ON ITBAS A BaNk but a Money Vault or Hole where you just put it as an licenced banking facility and just that...It's really an appalling customer service and my negative experiences made my Blood pressure, cortisol, stress and distress go High and on Red and they haven't come down.I have Nightmares with Westpac and it's horrible experiences over and over and WESTPAC genuinely DOES NOT CARE and l Haven't seen that from their managers and it seems nothing matters as long as you take your money to them and they get to use your money to make money from you and takes away your positive emotions, cash and replaces them with negatives ones and they'll make a profit
Worst customer service
Worst customer service experience at Town Hall branch Sydney. Low staff members. Rude staff members. Waited in the branch for around two hours to get accounts unblocked. When they finally said it was all fixed I tried an ATM to withdraw some cash. The ATM took my card saying it was reported lost or stolen. When I told the staff member about it, they said to sit down and wait for someone to see you. In a few minutes she came out of her hiding hole and called another customer. She didn't even ensure I was in a queue to be seen to. They weren't concerned and were downright hostile. Staff walk out the door or just dismiss you. One said if I don't like it go to another branch! Queues of people, no organisation, no updates on how much longer you will have to wait. So disappointing. The staff thought they were kings and the customers the peasants who must wait at the king's pleasure. Did Westpac hire these people because they promised they were great at customer service? If so, Westpac hiring managers have been deceived. Every interaction made customers feel like lower class peasants. Don't believe their hype. They're useless.
Ok but not great
The broker was awesome but the mortgage section of the bank made life difficult. Although settlement went through on correct day, but again that was the broker pushing. The staff at our local branch in Mt Barker SA are awesome!
Westpac has turned into a BULLY bank
I attempted to execute multiple transactions with a longstanding business partner, with whom I have been conducting business for the past two years. Regrettably, all these transactions were unjustly blocked by Westpac, erroneously categorising them as spam. I lodged a formal complaint on the very same day, and their representative apologised for the error and assured me that the block would be lifted by the 28th of January. However, it is now well past the promised date, and the block remains in place, causing severe inconvenience and disruption to my business operations. I would not even give them one star. Westpac has turned into a bully bank.
Westpac Customer Support Is Abysmal
Westpac customer support is getting worse by the day. Their "24-7" customer support is not unless you count their useless bot. Cards with money on them get blocked if their A.I. thinks the purchase is "off pattern" and there is no opportunity to white list the payee, talk to a support person without an hour long wait or not at all if it is after hours or approve the payment.
Simply the worst bank in Australia
Simply the worst bank in Australia. I try and buy something from a legit business online, they think it's fraud. It isn't. Then block my banking access and I have to call up for one hour to fix it. Time to cancel it all now. Idiots is nice to say. So backward. They don't care lie and say it's fixed it isn't. Done...
Made payid and 24 hrs later payment…
Made payid and 24 hrs later payment still gone through- to an account previously used. After 4 phone calls I get out through to their digital and fraud team- after holding on for 50 MINUTES- I gave up. Westpac’s operations are a complete circus
"Theftpac" is a name earned
I have a superannuation fund trading account with Westpac - who are now withholding my money. How does a bank decide what I can and cant do with my own money? "Theftpac" is a name I'd heard them labelled with a few years ago and its earned. They have one job - hold your hard earned cash, and yet they cannot even do that. Instead they will charge you even if you are dead, and arbitrarily decide what you can do with the money you have entrusted them to hold.
Every bad thing you hear people say about the banks is true. Stay away from Westpac - a dystopian sht show with the values of Caligula.
If you are a crypto investor, find a different bank
Had a horrible experience yesterday (08/01/2025). I was trying to transfer some funds from my account to my crypto currency exchange and it kept getting rejected. Then I called the bank and kept me waiting for almost an hour. A lady then spoke and interrogated me as if I’ve committed a crime. Sounded like she had absolutely zero idea on how blockchain transactions / decentralised finance operates. She then asked me a process a deposit from my exchange back to my Westpac which I was forced to do as she was watching until the funds come into my account. She then asked me to wait about 10 minutes and try to transfer which I tried. It got rejected yet again. Then I received a call from another staff member from Westpac. He was so rude and was yelling at me saying why are you trying to transfer funds yet again when we asked you not to. Then he threatened me if I try it again he will revoke my online banking access. His reasoning was my CoinSpot account was spotted as a scamming account and no funds will be allowed to go into it. I cannot believe what I was experiencing. I will be closing all my accounts with Westpac and I cannot fathom as to why this so called fraud team at Westpac has absolutely such low IQ levels in terms of how crypto currency transactions operate! Basically accusing me as a scammer ! If you are into crypto investing, be aware.. find a better bank such as NAB.
Pathetic and disgusting service
There help while overseas is the worst ever I'm on a disability pension and have memory issues and could not chat on line to a human just a pathetic robot that says please ask a more simple request when my request was to block a stolen card
THE WORST SERVICE
I am now trying to fend off Westpac…
I am now trying to fend off Westpac being abusive during the holiday season. They are like scammers texting people on Saturday afternoon. I went to Facebook and complained on Messenger and the guy types rote stuff, probably AI, and wants me to make a complaint. I suppose because he can then make more money as part of their online crews. Am refusing to make a complaint so he has gone quiet.
I am now not worth his effort. I am not getting roped into any of their madness. And I detest the rugby game. Westpac has ended up like shonky scammers.

Westpac Terrible Customer Service and Application process
Terrible experience with the Westpac customer service. I applied for a Westpac credit card, but the process was unnecessarily delayed by their team until the application expired. Despite my efforts and attempts to resolve the issue by calling them every week asking if they required any further details, there was no satisfactory assistance provided. After the expiry date, I had called them up asking for the reason why my application had been declined, all they could tell me is that my account needed to be vertified. However I had submitted the identification documents and had also doubled up and head to my local wespac bank to have the documents sent. This ordeal was in the span of 2 months and I had called them up every week in an attempt to further progress my application. Meanwhile I had just recently applied for an ANZ card and this process took less then a day without any issues.
Zero Customer Service
I’m with St George which has a merged Westpac branch. One human in the entire branch who did not speak English very clearly
I wished to enquire about a opening a high interest account no one in the branch available at 10.30am to assist when asked what days someone would be available I was told “ I think they have all finished for the year! The date is 13/12
Obviously not keen to accept new buisness - I will abandon loyalty and take my considerable investment elsewhere
Shame on them!!

Dont expect to get any support from Westpac. If you manage to get through to them, the support person has less than perfect English and doesn't know anything
Having to wait 1 hr 30 mins on hold…
Having to wait 1 hr 30 mins on hold only to be disconnected. One of the worst customer experience. When it’s busy it’s only just to add more people. Shut the physical banks and don’t assist over the phone! Well done ✔️ you guy deserve medal 🥇. Hoping there will be soon a crypto bank.
