Long time user of Wethertex products.

Wethertex products.
I have been using the wethertex products for over 10 years. I can honestly say that the quality and longevity of the products I have used are second to none. The X71 base coat is in a league of its own. As a regular buyer I visit the factory/yard quite often and I must say I am always amazed at the lengths the staff go to test and improve existing products. Well done to everyone there you are a credit to our industry.

WARNING - DO NOT TRUST

WARNING: DO NOT TRUST this company to back you up, or honour their so called ‘15-year guarantee’.

I thought I’d give Wethertex products a shot (as a change from my usual go-to brand).

I used their Stabilising primer and their HBS Hi-Build exterior all weather coating, on quite a large project, being applied to numerous rendered walls.
The application was followed exactly as specified by the manufacturer (and to the letter).

Well, not even three years in and the product is obviously starting to break down and fail, so I contacted their retailer ( Rawlins Paints ), who did a bit of back and forth between me and the manufacturer, before stating that it must be an application problem, and as such, they are unable / unwilling to accept any warranty claim.

Instead, the advice I received was to strip the surface back, BUY their (useless) products for a second time and start all over again.

After expressing my dissatisfaction (with Rawlins technical), I was offered a measly and insulting 10% discount!

These people must assume that after 37-years in the trade, that I’ve just sailed up the river on a banana boat!

Clearly, the “all singing - and all dancing” warranty that WETHERTEX advertise isn’t worth the paper it’s written on!

Shame on them (and their retailers) for not backing up or supporting their customers.

I will never use, trust or recommend them ever again, so it’s back to the leading brands for me!

Wethertex HBS Flex-Coat Hi-Build Coating.

This product is not fit for purpose.

The associated problems are two fold.

Problem 1.
The product does not cure. Six months after application, being exposed to direct sunlight and a warm dry summer, the product remains soft. It can easily be deformed by finger nail pressure alone.

Problem 2.
The product cannot be over painted using a proprietary brand masonary paint without melting the 'stipple'.
Local supplier only stocks white Wethertex and recommends painting with colour of choice.
Wethertex instructions provide no guidance or warning to avoid painting.
General maintenance and cosmetic upkeep demand painting. This is not possible with Wethertex without resultant disappointment.

Avoid this product.

Note: There are alternative Hi-Build paint products available that the reviewer has had excellent results with. (Resitex)
