Order from White Flower Farm

I fully enjoy ordering plants , shrubs, tree or whatever and knowing that I will have quality every time.
Their ordering system makes ordering almost too easy. Sometimes I order before I've planned a planting place. My yard is getting very full.

Very poor experience - White Flower Farm needs to review its customer service and marketing

I am extremely disappointed with every aspect of White Flower Farm. Initially, I received the catalog, acknowledging that this nursery is in CT. We live in a specific ecosystem in Albuquerque, NM. I contacted the nursery multiple times and either received rude, peremptory statements of "the plant's in the zone" then refusal to allow me to speak to someone else and several unanswered e-mails. Unfortunately, I went forward because the catalog is beautiful. My order was sizeable.
My first delivery: the plants were small and very stressed. Several had no water and there was even an empty pot. I called customer service and ultimately got a surly customer service representative who wanted to know if the pot had roots (!!). The plant was a $25.00 perennial and they couldn't replace it because they were out of stock. Then, I paid 74.50 for Achillea Terracotta - two out of the six didn't make it. An echinacea died although others survived and two coleus and one saffron from the Sunny Summer collection. Lastly, five shallots germinated. I have followed all the directions but as I had inquired, I suspect it's the climate that's causing this poor showing. That and the quality/health of the plants when I received them. Recently I was sent grafted tomatoes. They were extremely stressed: dry and wilted when I took them out of the box - the box was under my porch for no more than an hour. I have re-potted them, introduced them to the outside and hardened them for several days. I have no confidence that the Comanche Purple will survive; it was in such poor shape.
I e-mailed and was sent fertilizer.... since I am container gardening, fresh soils and amended the soil with compost, I doubt this is the issue. If I had had complete die-off I would also blame my technique.
But, unfortunately, the problem lies in almost unethical marketing and extremely poor customer service. Just because a location is in a "zone" doesn't mean that one size fits all. The inability to acknowledge that despite my multiple efforts to speak to what was marketed as a professional, knowledgeable staff has been more than frustrating as I realize how much money I wasted. White Flower Farm may simply need to concede that it cannot market to high-altitude, arid locations with as well as review its shipping contracts because the plants were not adequately protected.
Lastly, I realize that New England has been stereotyped to rude people but I've always thought that was too convenient a generalization. In the case of White Flower Farm phone customer service, I was frankly appalled at how rude and unprofessional the individual was. In my many dealings, I was promised a replacement for a coleus over a week and a half ago. It has not been sent to my knowledge nor has the company informed of potential shipping dates. I have a credit, I don't want a credit. I don't want to have any further dealings with this company. Massive, massive disappointment.

WFF is pricey but reliable, pleasant and knowledgeable.

I have ordered from WFF for several years and have seen prices rise beyond what I am willing to pay for most things. I appreciate the variety of selection, the graciousness and knowledge of the sales associates, and the appropriate shipping packaging and times. I would like to see regular customers be offered the benefit of prices that are special--collections and specimens offered in other publications, especially. Collections are the best buys in the WFF catalogs, price-wise. Maybe more collections could be offered to regular customers, as well as some benefits for quantities. Also, "early bird" benefits would be helpful. There seems to be more emphasis on drawing new or one-time buyers than on valuing or encouraging established customers.
I also have questions about your plant warranty. Occasionally plants have not over-wintered although they are rated for my weather/planting zone and I have cared for the appropriately. I'm never sure what the warranty is or how to go about getting replacement plants if that is part of the warranty.

Service was good, many plants did not make it,

I have been ordering for years, and this year experienced my first real disappointment. I purchased 4 complete arrangements at a considerable expense and anxiously awaited their arrival. Two plants arrived dead, and three more were in dire distress. After planting, and almost immediately 2 more plants died, then another. I am anxiously watching over the others, to the point of paranoia, in the hopes that they make it. I called, and will be sent replacements, but as I said after so many years and the anxiety of waiting to have all these dead or dying is very disappointing.

Where's my order?

My order for has still not shipped. It is prime planting season in North Carolina and nothing has been received despite ordering in early April.

Unique! WFF is as good as it was over 50 years ago!

I have been a customer of WFF since Amos Pettingill, and I still have his book "The White Flower-Farm Garden Book" from the 1960s. Also, I have from that time a "pup" of my original orange clivia, and it flowers every year. Two years ago, I returned to Connecticut and to the WFF, not visited since the 1970s. To my delight, it was very much the same! I returned, by air, with a Japanese Maple "Shirazz" in my suitcase, and it is the most beautiful Japanese Maple, among many others, in my garden in Georgia today. Please keep WFF, as it is, for my children and grandchildren, all gardeners.

A great source for quality plants

I found White Flower Farm online last year while looking for plants I couldn't find locally. The plants I received were in good shape and are thriving in my garden. I prefer to buy from local growers, since it's much cheaper. But White Flower Farm has a great selection. I also like the fact that there are honest reviews of the plants on the website. I placed another order this year and am looking forward to receiving the plants and getting them into my flower garden.

Plants shipped and packaged well arrived unharmed.

I ordered two roses , which seem to be springing to life. They are small plants but had good root systems. Time will tell if they grow and blossom as anticipated. I ordered them because I wanted a specific size and color of rose which I could not find in a local nursery. I also ordered 6 yarrow plants in a color combination I could not find locally. The plants seem quite healthy, are growing nicely, but have not yet flowered. This is my second purchase of plants from White Flower Farm. In both cases the product has done quite well in my garden.

The usual good quality from WFF.

I have been ordering from White Flower Farm for years and am very happy with the plants I receive. Their perennials are hardy and seldom fail if planted in proper conditions. They have a good selection, service is prompt, and I never have a problem with billing. This time, the clematis I received were excellent stock and started growing almost immediately after planting.

Perfect packaging!

I was excited to receive my package w/ the Butterfly Bush I ordered. When I opened the box I was so pleased. The packaging was done very well; the bush arrived alive and in great shape.

Healthy Plants and on time !

My experience with White Flower Farm began many years ago and they have been a very good source for healthy plants and arriving on time to plant in my time zones regardless of where we have lived. I always look first to see what plants are offered from White Flower Farm before ordering them elsewhere as I know the plants they offer will be superior to other companies.
