I wanted to post a severe warning fellow filmmakers

I wanted to post a severe warning to fellow filmmakers and rental houses regarding Whitepoint Optics.

I sent them equipment for a rehousing project, and they demanded and took full payment from me in November of last year. Since receiving the funds, they have entirely ceased communication. I have attempted to reach them via multiple channels—phone calls, emails, and direct messages—and have been completely ignored for months.

After doing some digging into the official Finnish corporate registry, it appears Whitepoint Optics officially entered bankruptcy proceedings in April 2026. They actively took full payments from clients late last year knowing they were going under, and are now ghosting the community while holding our high-end glass hostage.

If you have active orders or gear with them, do not wait for a reply that isn't coming. Contact your financial institutions immediately for chargebacks and prepare to file a claim with the appointed liquidation trustees in Finland to get your property back.

from WHITE POINT OPTICS

from WHITE POINT OPTICS, I ordered 3 OM Zuiko rehousing back in 2/25 and they signed for a 6-8 months delivery time. Once I signed the P/O: 25% prepaid, then sent them my 3 lenses = another 25% prepaid, then came parts order with their sub-contractors = another 25% prepaid ... and then ... NOTHING during 3 months (last summer), then after a PUBLIC mention on their Instagram, suddenly the COO replied and kept promises ... delivery 12/25 "because we had troubles with delivered parts not being according to specs" .. then promise to deliber before end 2/26, then pushed until 3/26 ... and since 1 onths, not even a SINGLE ANSWER to REPEATED e-mails to all and every possible mails on their website ... VERY SCARRY ... BE AWARE ... It seems I am not the only one when I read all the complains ...

Lenses are now 9 months late and they have ceased communication

I ordered some lenses in January 2025 with the promise of delivery September/August of that year. The communication was fantastic until the very moment they received my money. As soon as they have order is put in the communication drops to virtually nothing. My lenses were not delivered as promised, instead another date being given as an absolute promise, that didn’t happen, there have been a number of promises since then all of which have been broken. I now can get no response to my emails, there is no number on their site to contact them on so I have no choice but to engage a lawyer which I am in the process of doing.

I can only believe the positive reviews were posted by the company themselves as I have no indication that they will actually supply the lenses. Also how can they possibly know that they are the ‘best at re-housing’ unless they have purchased from all the other companies!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

I ordered a vintage lens rehousing from Whitepoint Optics, and the final result is very high quality. The mechanical finish is solid, focus and iris movements are smooth, and the overall build clearly feels designed for professional use.

The delivery timeline extended beyond the original estimate, and communication could have been more consistent.

Overall, excellent quality – if you value refined rehousing work over the fastest possible turnaround, this is a strong option.

These guys build the best glasses in…

These guys build the best glasses in the world. Sure, delivery took a while and there was a slight delay in communication, but the quality is the best in the world. I definitely recommend it. You can't get quality in a hurry.

terrible customer service

This is a Finish company. Terrible customer service, months of non communication. They do not answer phone calls. I do not know where my lenses are.
