Avoid this Alarm company…

In 2016 we had our alarm system fitted by Wilson Alarms. For the first few years the system worked fine, we had it serviced on time each year. Then the problems started, bells not sounding, contact boards needing replacement, and other niggling issues. The engineers used to come out and rectify the issues and there would be no charge until a fix was successful. My recent issue is still unresolved after two engineer visits incurring a cost of over £150 and the issue still exists. A suggested solution for yet more money has been suggested, but with no guarantee it will work.
This used to be a great company, but in recent years it’s all about income generation at the expense of customer service. Rubbish company, there are better out there, just avoid this one.
By the way, if you look at Google reviews note they only reply to the positive reviews!!

When we moved to Northamptonshire we…

When we moved to Northamptonshire we had an alarm and CCTV installed by Rainbow Security. The service was okay, not great and we had some issues with the system along the way.
They were recently taken over by Wilson Alarms and to say the service is worse would be mild!
I have had repeated emails from them telling me about all the ways they are going to charge me! Yet when we had an issue, I called their office to be told, I'm not sure I will speak to someone and call you back! Never happened.
When I emailed the MD, he was very keen to get someone out at £145.00 call-out fee for a 30 min appt. Bearing in mind I have had this issue repeatedly since having the system installed, I find this rather distasteful.
All in all, I don't recommend anyone uses this company.

Bad experience

In 2020, we had an Orisec alarm system fitted to our house by Rainbow Security Systems Ltd, Northampton. During the last 7 – 10 days, we started to experience false alarms and decided to have the garage sensor replaced but it needed to be done quickly because we were due to take a holiday. I called Rainbow (recently taken over by Wilson Security Systems in Leicester) a total of 6 times between Wednesday and Thursday w/c 30/6/25 during working hours to ask them to fit a new sensor but there was no reply and no method of leaving a message.

Because it was urgent and a part needed to be ordered, I then called Bee Tee Ltd on Friday and they ordered the relevant part and arrived this morning to fit it, only to find that when the system had been originally installed, the engineer from Wilson/Rainbow had specifically activated a ‘NVM Data Lock’ process specific to them, which prevents the normal default code being used by an engineer to access a system. I asked Wilson/Rainbow to provide the unlock code but they refused. The engineer from Bee Tee said that it was the first time he had seen such a process being activated and that the default engineer code had always worked with all his other call-outs. The Bee Tee engineer also explained that providing me, as the house owner, with the unlock code does not enable me to use the code to disable other alarm systems (for example if I was a burglar) because this is controlled by the user code and not the engineer’s code; this was another excuse by Wilson for not providing the code

All this has left us in a situation where we have paid for an alarm system which cannot be serviced by any company other than the original installer. This seems to me to be totally unreasonable and means we would either be stuck with an installer that we no longer wish to use or have to pay for a new alarm system.

I have cancelled my contract with Wilson and will not be using them again, even if it means paying for a complete new system. I suggest you carefully consider whether you want a system installed by them that you cannot have serviced elsewhere.
