Malenchini Wine Estate (Villa Medicea di Lilliano)

We were welcomed by Monica to this enchanting villa that once belonged to the Medici family (Villa Medicea). We toured the villa and the grounds (the villa is a perfect location for stunning photos of the Chianti region and the beauty of Tuscany). We then visited the winery where Chianti and other wines are produced, including the historic part of the family cellars. Lunch began with a truly splendid aperitif of Tuscan cured meats and cheeses, followed by a tasting of the five wines offered (starting with a rosé, followed by increasingly complex reds). After the aperitif, we were treated to a homemade lasagna (truly delicious), and we finished with some traditional local homemade almond biscuits. The wines were excellent, especially the Chianti "Diletta" for me. The tour of the villa, the wines, the olive oil, the lunch, and Monica's kindness and hospitality are well worth the cost.
You can sense the pride, passion, and love this family has for the Chianti region and Tuscany.
The villa can be reached by taxi from Florence (approximately €40-50) and vice versa.

On August 29th, you reached out to us with an availability request for a wine tour and also asked about train schedules and restaurant options. Our customer service team responded with the availabilities that the winery could offer, and kindly explained that while we can assist with booking wine experiences, we unfortunately aren’t able to provide support with transportation or restaurant reservations.
This answer resulted in your review that is not really on the services we offer having answer your main request for availability.

We’re very sorry that this was disappointing for you. At Winalist, our mission is to curate and offer the best wine tours and tastings across Europe, and while we aren’t a full travel agency, we always do our best to ensure the booking process for wine experiences is smooth and enjoyable.

Confusing system

Confusing system. Booked, accepted, cancelled - alternative offers etc etc. If you have patience to concentrate and deal with it, you will be okay. Otherwise you will end up paying for nothing like we did!

We understand that managing multiple bookings during a trip can lead to confusion, especially if access to email or booking details is limited while travelling. That’s exactly why we’ve designed our system to centralize and document all communications between hosts and travelers — to ensure that decisions remain clear and traceable.

Since your review, we’ve tried to contact you several times to offer support and see if we could find an alternative arrangement with the host for a future date, but haven’t yet received a reply.

Reservations cancelled for no reason

Reservations cancelled for no reason, doors closed no one at the Champagne house, only an email stating a refund.
I called the host beforehand to verify that indeed they would be open to receive us, after booking through Winalist*
Winalist often offer calendar dates that cannot be held. To be avoided.
The booking request was confirmed and accepted by email for which the payment was withdrawn.
Both the cancellation by the host and Winalist and the refund were received at 10:18 by email on May the 1st, a holiday.
There was no one that called about the cancellation, otherwise why would we show up at the host for the tasting reserved? I had differing excuses of why they cancelled, none of which are acceptable.
I am not saying that Winalist had anything to do with the cancellation, yet you are representing hosts as an intermediate ultimately bringing financial harm to my business by client dissatisfaction of their organised tour because of this cancellation.
Expectations of delivery of services booked through Winalist was a disaster, an embarrassment, something never to be repeated.

Thank you for booking your experience via Winalist. We are sorry that your experience on our website hasn't been the one you were expecting.

After reviewing the situation, it appears that the host even after accepting your booking request wasn't available when you arrived. This is really a rare situation but can happen when winegrowers have urgent matters in the vineyards for example.
When we received your email regarding this matter, a person from our customer success team contacted you by phone to find a solution. It appears the one you preferred was the refund of the experience thus receiving a refund email.

Since a host on Winalist can't activate a refund, it's clear that someone on our customer team spoke with you.

Again we're sorry that you've encountered this situation that is clearly out of or hands but rest assured that we've then right away spoken to the host and ask them to 1-- find another time to receive you and 2-- send you an email full of excuses.

Our goal is to keep a high level of service and if this situation happens, the host is removed from our website unless they can present good reason and then maintain a 90%+ response rate.
