Master builder and technician
Our most recent experience was a breakdown in our Freesat satellite reception.
We were not sure as to whether the failure to show a blue light on the receiver was an aerial or receiver problem.
Stu provided a very fast response to an email and arranged for us to be his first visit next day.
In the room meter readings established it was indeed a problem with the vintage satellite aerial. We agreed it was best to have a new one rather than just replacing parts.
Sorry Stu for not thanking you on the day. Your fixing of the new dish was so much tidier than the way the old one had been installed.
This is also an opportunity to record an excellent diagnosis and prompt attention rain dripping through our ceiling. It was diagnosed as due to a badly sized and fitted flashing of the soil stack by the original builder in 1974. Stu did an emergency repair with mastic but returned a few days later to fit a new flashing.
Stu provided photographs showing the old and the new. We could see that the new flashing was more extensive and better fitted.
There had been a tiny weep since new that we took to be condensation. It was not! The duct behind the wall tiling had also been damp and sudden changes resulted in both the ceiling in the adjoining room dripping and the wall tiles in the bathroom coming off!
