I booked a room at maleny lodge. The booking was confirmed via email on the correct date. I arrived to find that the room was given to someone else. The woman who worked there told me that my booking was for the day before. What if had the incorrect phone number for myself so she could not contact me. She could of send me an email if this was the case. Even though I had it in writing my stay was for the 23rd of April the woman who owns maleny lodge said no refund and called me an idiot. Do your self a favour and never book through What if. Zero stars.
So after arguing with the owner for 40mins I went home with $300 down the drain.
Do not trust Wotif
Wotif advertised a 3rd world hovel as “a world of luxury.” The resort was dilapidated, filthy, poor quality, isolated, - it would not meet the standard of a holiday park or hostel for quality and cleanliness. I was charged $452.37 per night for the vilest, most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed in. False advertising for Serenity Resort in Fiji. I want to be contacted and compensated.
Do not use Wotif
In short, this company is a scammer. Your booking can be easily cancelled accidentally by design which we did just a minute after it was confirmed. We asked for it to be reinstated which they refused saying the hotel already took the money and will not refund or reinstate the booking. We reached out to the hotel directly and our booking was reinstated by the hotel. However, when we arrived at the premise, we were questioned about the payment. The hotel said they have not received the payment from Wotif. If you are in the same position, please reach out to your credit card provider. They will assist you with taking the money back from Wotif and put them on the record. Do not use Wotif for your travel.
Book directly through the business not WOTIF
Last year I won a credit voucher through the radio for wotif. I dealt with a gentlemen Chris through their promotions team.
Everything went really well until the week of my bookings.
I wouldn’t recommend booking any sort of day trips/ experiences with wotif but I would book directly with the companies.
The week of my travel I had an experienced booked, I had no emails or calls to say the experience was cancelled (on the companies side) when I contacted wotif 3 days before I was meant to do the experience it was so difficult to get the experience either credited or book something else. Chris practically said because it was cancelled I lost the credit for that experience ($350 was lost) then when I got to the weekend away we had dinner reservations booked for 6:30pm. When we arrived the the skyfeast they had no idea of our booking, we had to wait 20 mins for them to slot us in! We ended up sitting down at 7:30pm
What a joke!
I wouldn’t recommend booking with them for anything other than hotel accomodation.

Terrible Experience, No Customer Support
I and my friends recently booked accommodation in New Zealand through Wotif and had an absolutely dreadful experience. Upon arriving at the place called Rotorua Citizens Club on 04 January 2024, We waited at the reception for more than an hour without anyone assisting me. We followed the instructions provided at the place to reach the receptionist to check in but no response at all from the hotel. We ended up finding a new place to stay that night.
We contacted Wotif for support on the same day and no support was provided.
We sent emails the day after to find out what will happen to our booking fee and no response was received.
What's worse is that they still charged my card on 10 January 2024, which is 6 days after the day we supposed to stay in there hotel.
We reached out for clarification on the charge and received no response whatsoever. The lack of customer support is incredibly frustrating, and it seems like they don't care about their customers once the booking is made.
We would strongly advise against using Wotif for any travel bookings. The lack of accountability and support in case of issues is unacceptable. Save yourself the headache and choose a more reliable platform for your travel needs.

False information, lack of transparency and ignoring reports of fraudulent practices
I'd give zero stars if it were possible. Where to start... functionality wise, when selecting the required criteria for a property eg pool, parking, air conditioning, breakfast etc etc... only one can be checked at a time and upon doing so the page scrolls back to the top and you're forced to repeat the process for every criteria to be selected. Transparency and accuracy of information are not offered by Wotif... properties are able to state they have a pool, when in fact they don't. Gambaro's in Brisbane is permitted to falsely claim they have a pool, despite the pool in question being a brisbane city council public pool, one block from the hotel. Indigo Hotel in Brisbane also falsely claim they have a pool at their property, when the pool in question is at an entirely different hotel, which Indigo clearly has some sort of agreement with. Numerous emails to Wotif reporting this and requesting they remove this system flaw, result in no response whatsoever. I use this platform to find hotels, then search for the hotels website and book direct. Wotif offers nothing and I would never book on their platform.
Chaotic booking experience with Wotif
I booked a 10day package holiday (flights and hotel and transport) with Wotif in August 2023 for family holiday in Phuket, for November 2023.
Within a few weeks of booking the outbound flight was changed to the following day so I had to adjust the number of nights at the hotel. Wotif were unable to assist with the airline changes and i had to contact them myself. To be transparent, it was not that difficult to change hotel stay duration and get refund from Wotif but it took hours to organise through their chat function.
During October, we were told one leg of the return flight was brought back 24 hours but not the connecting flight to Australia. After multiple attempts with Wotif to get the connecting flight brought back 24 hours, which would have meant a shorter holiday, we decided to cancel the flights and purchase alternative flights separately from Wotif. Again, the refund came through relatively quickly.
Overall booking with Wotif was a stressful experience and I will never do it again. I did more of the running around making new arrangements than Wotif. While they try to help with changes to hotel bookings, they do very little with flight changes and I was told to contact the airline directly.
I have very little trust with Wotif which is disappointing as they used to have to better reputation. I wish I had done my research before booking the holiday with them. I was never sure the holiday would ever happen. Happily we had a great holiday.

If I could give them negative stars I would. I booked a 'reserve now pay later booking' with no deposit (pay at hotel). I cancelled just minutes later (should have read hotel reviews first - cockroaches etc.)
They took $200 from my bank account. Hotel not reachable by phone multiple times (what sort of hotel is that?). I call Wotif and they "assure me Mam" you will get refund within 3 to 5 business days.
Waited a week...nothing. Call them again and I'm told they have now sorted it "sit back and wait Mam you, will get your refund within two days."
Then I get an email saying they will not give me my refund. I call AGAIN and they finally reach some scumbag at the hotel. Apparently, I will get my refund but have to wait more days. Staff doesn't care. refused to escalate my issue.
They put everything back on the hotels when they should refund me immediately under the terms I booked.

We gave them our check in and check out days and we had proof via email but somehow our hotel had the wrong dates and they were fully booked. So we essentially are homeless our first and last night in Athens. We just wanted a refund so we aren’t homeless when we arrive in Athens. Now we have to book accomodation for our first night and last night. This has made us go way over budget and we have to move accomodation 3 times while In Athens. They sent us in circles and caused so much tension in the group. Worst company please save yourself the heart ache stress and anxiety. They will not refund you even if they make a mistake on their end.

I got double charged by both wotif and the hotel provider. Contacted Wotif numerous times by chat and email. Asked to submit the details numerous times. Called them numerous times. Rarely a response at all. They simply did not answer many of my enquiries. Finally, despite all the evidence given to them, including receipt from hotel, receipt and email from wotif, they denied responsibility without explanation. I strongly recommend do not deal with them.

Made simple typing mistake when booking. Received confirmation email from Wotif and immediately saw the error. Contacted Wotif immediately. Would have been no more than a few minutes. They would not help. We would have had to pay for a room we were not able to use as well as receiving a penalty which was the same as the price of the room. Will never use Wotif again. Simple rip off. In future ring the properties direct, at least they do try to help.

I tried to book a stay at Best Western Newmarket in Auckland. I waited till the next day but never received a confirmation so I booked somewhere else. I never revceived any check in instructions and a few days after I stayed in Auckland money was deducted from my account for no show. I have dpoken to the hotel and they said it was Wotif. I have now spoken to 2 people there, its been over a month and I am still waiting for an answer from them.

Sold a non existent hotel and refused to refund
I booked a hotel in France with these crooks. When we drove to the location there was no hotel. Google searches for the hotel name turned up nothing. It was getting late and we went somewhere else. Much later we learned that the actual hotel has a different name and was at a different address! What is even more unbelievable is that WOTIF refused to refund us the one night stay, even though I have a confirmation specifying a hotel that doesn't exist! Stay away!
