Really disappointed with the YpsoPump.

Really disappointed with the YpsoPump.
The connectivity issues are constant. It takes forever to connect and even delivering a simple insulin dose can be painfully slow. The companion app is unreliable and often fails to connect at all.
The biggest disappointment is that the pump doesn’t seem to respond properly to glucose readings. It often fails to increase insulin when levels are high and doesn’t reliably reduce or suspend insulin when levels are dropping. The whole point of moving to this technology was to achieve better control, but my HbA1c is no better and, if anything, my diabetic management has become more difficult.
For a pump that’s marketed as advanced diabetes technology, it has been a complete fail in my experience and does not deliver on its promises!

Awful pump!

Poor, slow iPhone app. Takes sometimes one minute to load the blue screen.
Notifications can be delayed leading to confusion.
Drains phone battery terribly - need to carry a battery pack defeating purpose of the smaller pump.
Set changes are terrible - never seen such a messy change in 36 years. Insulin can leak! The process is also confusion and it doesn’t walk you through it like Medtronic can.
Doesn’t accept the most popular batteries in UK - Duracell, as I found out!
Disconnects from phone frequently for no apparent reason.
Sensor also times out for 10 minutes at a time.

The sticky on the infusion site isn’t sticky enough and peels. I had to buy additional patches for a pretty penny!

I have to change the set every two days due to the site getting sore (too fast delivery?!).

No alarms come on if your phone is on silent, not even for extreme lows and highs.

All their marketing is full of spelling mistakes and whilst this isn’t life threatening it just makes me wonder if this is a legit company! Slapdash.

I actually cannot believe this passed safety checks! I can’t believe it was tested with a real diabetic.

I thought having something on your phone would be good but actually it’s another bit of tech that can go wrong. You can never be more than 6 metres away. I didn’t even think that would be an issue but it feels like a ball and chain. Because it drains your battery I often come out of the closed loop mode and I’m constantly rly panicking about having a battery pack with me and a battery for the the pump too since it only take very specific batteries. I am desperately trying to go back to the brick that is Medtronic because honestly it felt so much more tested and that I could trust it.

Terrible Tech Suppport, never again.

Over all ok control, about 70 percent time in range, however you have to work hard for it. It is very reactive and does not predict trends well, it takes days for it to learn something new and you cant prevent lows or it confuses the alogrithm, also customer support is a joke, if you like people reading of scripts that don't have any real experience with diabetes or the tech then this is the pump for you, the moment i can change I will, never again and mostly due to tech support, not understanding their own product.

Yipsomeds Systemic failure

i have been on this pump for a year and a bit and it has given me nothing but issues i have been on pump therapy for 14 years and 19 as type 1 diabetic total
i have never had a more infuriating experience to date with any of the treatments I've been on their tech is at least 15 years behind everyone else like for example Medtronic their app is horrible and you will be seen as money in the pocket for this corporation but unlike other corporations they wont even give you a good product to KEEP YOU ALIVE at least Medtronic or tandem actually work and its telling that the compliant line is 3 to 4 weeks before a response as they are getting so many at the time of writing. i am stuck with this pump for another 3 years due to me being in the UK. i would strongly advise anyone thinking about this pump to not get it. it sounds shiny and life altering but its marketing BS
