I would not order their bagels again. They are less than a step above grocery store bagels. What happened to the real boil and bake bagel? The crunchy exterior and meaty interior with some holes? Mayb... See more

I've liked everything I've ever bought at Zabar's on Broadway, but items from their online store are not the same. The bagels and rugelach are standard, ordinary fare, same as from any supermarket.... See more
Mostly bland food (with some exceptions - the applesauce is deluxe) at exorbitant prices (no exceptions). Maybe it’s an in-person experience thing but we only experience the food end via delivery. Som... See more
As a lover of New York’s bagels, I ordered two dozen bagels from zabars.com for Christmas morning breakfast. We got them in plenty of time, immediately sliced them and froze them. But upon thawing,... See more

Poor customer service
I was asking to fix my apartment unit number from "5" to "5N" since my first time ordering, however you guys never fix it. and the UPS also never derive to my front door. UPS always left my package on the first floor or lobby. Also the label shows my phone number under my name. it makes me feel not privacy and insecure.
Also, Store people doesn't help me and 212-787-2000 is no one answer.
You can't taste-test a catalog.
Impressed with Zabar's catalog, I placed my first (and to be ONLY) online order for baked goods. All of the items tasted dry & stale, especially the babkas. I won't pretend to be an expert on ethnic specialties; my quality standard was, however, was established last year when I ordered the same items from another New York source. To my disappointment in Zabar's products, add the insult of an insane shipping fee! (The other source shipped immediately AND gratis for a nominal minimum purchase.) I don't like feeling taken, and I now know that I don't prefer Zabar's baked items over those from another source.
This is the best business on the UWS
This is the best business on the UWS. They have only top quality items, everything is always very fresh, and they are run with integrity. I once picked up an item that was past the expiration date but due to a visual impairment, I couldn't see the expiration date. When I brought it back the following day, they not only refunded me but gave me a store credit and apologized. This is a legitimate honest business that despite being the most popular business in town does right by their customers. I truly wish them continued success.
We were quite pleased with the food…
We were quite pleased with the food supplies and household items we ordered from Zabars. Everything arrived promptly and was properly packaged so there were no items damaged in shipping. I was pleased with the cured meats we ordered, and various jars of goodies. The bagels were the one disappointment. they weren't good or bad, just not a real New York bagel. I would think that Zabars of all the places on earth would have knock it out of the ball park bagel. Might be a Covid baking thing and not having access to favored ingredients, as many baked goods from many familiar sources have been less than thrilling. So we will try them again once Covid is over. Everything else we ordered was great. I was very impressed with the styling and quality of a cutting board and tea towels I ordered.
So please work on those bagels! Being a New Yorker I know a good bagel when I taste one and these were not above supermarket bakery/ freezer bagels quality. I wish they would carry Bialys as they are not available in my current city and I miss them.
Will never order from Zabar's again
After several phone calls following Zabar's failure to deliver an email holiday gift yet charging my account, being on hold for lengthy times via several phone calls to resolve, false promises, and then finally receiving an e-gift a link that fails to work, I will be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau. I, nor will my family, ever order from Zabar's again!
