With the new privacy policy you can't access your wifi enabled lights unless you are on the local network if you are not signed in with an account handing over your personal info. Can't even use lights you've paid for without also selling your data because they want more money from an already expensive product. If I did it all over again I wouldn't have invested in hue products.
I used the Hue website to buy Smart Light Bulbs and they're never got to me UPS messed I asked for the order to be returned and I get my refund and they're keeping my 2.99 for delivery and only refund 23.99 this all wrong and never be useing they're website to order anything again one they're use UPS and 2 they're what refund your full money
The security systems / cameras (including the doorbell camera) are no good without a subscription. Alerts are "motion detected" only and I am plagued by false alerts from eg passing traffic and spiders! Unless you are prepared to pay a subscription for filtering alerts, I would not recommend this product. Look at Aqara instead - filtering is provided free and the cameras integrate with Apple Home for extended video capture.
have used hue ecosystem with spots, bulbs and roof lamp. always something that doesent work, the automation system is very limited, you have to rely on third party apps. hue enrave lamp stopped work just in time for the warranty to expire, how convenient for philips "now you have to buy a new one".
the idea was to automate everything, but man how many hours havent i put to fix all the problems just for them to reapear after a short period.
i’ve never had anything but positive experiences ordering from HUE directly. that being said i have never needed to return/exchange anything, so i suppose i can’t speak to their customer service really. shipping time is a little slow - typically 3ish business days after purchase to receive shipping notification and tracking - but other than that i have no complaints. i appreciate that they offer apple pay at checkout!
I ordered 3 lamps received them in a few days but one of the lamps was faulty. Philips does not organize replacements so I had to order a new one and return the faulty one - 8 days have passed and still no money back from the original purchase. The new lamp was supposed to arrive on Tuesday but the couier selected UPS kept resceduling day by day, providing incorrect information and even blatantly lie. Over a week after my new order was placed and 5 rescheduled deliveries the lamp still has not arrived. When I tried to cancel my order with Philips I was told that i first need to get the lamp and return it to get my money back, ignoring the problem that I cannot get the lamp in the first place. They are unable to do anything except raise the problem with the wearhouse that will try to speak with UPS- good luck with that. So Philips still has over £250 of mine and I dont have any lamp. Avoid any direct purchase from them.
Don't buy the sync box, wasted 16hrs of my life, philips support was of zero help. They only offered me a return lable and after 5 days it has net been sent. I should have went with Govee, but Samsung got the light to work through my TV. I fear i have wasted 350 bucks on the sync box now. Lights work but there accessories suck!
I have about eight bulbs, the bridge, a motion sensor, dimmer switch and smart plug. All worked pretty much flawlessly from 2016 up to late 2025, around the time they released the bridge pro, but since then and into 2026 it has became a very unreliable system. The sensor is supposed to dim the lights then turn them off when there is no motion detected, but often it dims them but not turn them off fully. Pressing the switch sometimes does nothing. Bulbs in the app randomly show as unresponsive. I have the same equipment as pre late 2025 when the Hue products were working flawlessly. So I just put it down to bad updates. I tried resetting everything and changing the bridge channel which is stuff I never had to do pre late 2025, it's still unreliable. Looks like they got rid of their contact form and want you to sign up to third party social media sites to get customer support, what a joke, it's all downhill.
I feel sorry for all those people with a huge ecosystem of Hue products and them simply not functioning. I have a single Bluetooth bulb for my office that I sometimes use a custom scene with. Today it randomly decided to not connect to the app. Tried unpairing, re-pairing. Nothing. Tried Hue Essentials. Nothing. Gave up. It's now a very expensive regular bulb.
Philips was always renowned as one of those amazing Dutch brands, but since being re-branded to Signify the enshittification has ensued. Absolute garbage products and thank god I only have a single bulb.
The new overhaul has turned into a trainwreck. Every task is more complicated than in the past, it is not intuitive, and the only plus is the New Hub. They have ruined the use experience. I wont be purchasing any new products.
I brought, and I wanted, some smart lights. They turn on, they turn off, maybe there is a timer. How complicated is it?
I didnt buy 10 minute updates when I can't use my lights and have to sit in darkness. Lights that don't work because the Internet is down? What does the Internet have to do with my home network?
Stop trying to add things, I don't want AI in my lights. Just do the simple job I asked, turn my lights on and off, and maybe make them a nice colour if I want.
Philips Hue used to be great, but now it’s just overpriced junk made in China. The products cost way too much, support doesn’t respond, and shipping takes forever - sometimes weeks for basic items. For the money they charge, you’d expect better quality and service. Save yourself the frustration and look at other brands that actually care about their customers.
We are repairing a Tudor listed house & installed Philips Hue lights to avoid the need for switches to be wired & thus reduce impact upon the structure of the house.
As the house is v dusty to to the ongoing repairs, we avoided adding the white rubber switches & use most lights via the Philips hue app.
Whilst the Philips Hue has its glitches, it has on the whole not been that bad until last week, when Philips refused us access to our account & thus the control of our lights, would not send us an email to change our password & locked us out completely.
We have now had a week without access to most of our lights, to all our outdoor lights, our garage lights, etc.
Philips only has customer services contact on Facebook, X or Instagram, & they have to date not been helpful at all, promising to send us update links but again not doing so.
We would like to make a formal complaint but Philips Hue has no complaints process at all!!!
We spent over £2,500 on Philips lights & they unilaterally decide to stop our account, with no explanation offered at all!
I strongly recommend that you do not buy Philips Hue, they cannot be trusted & have no customer services.
I Contacted Philips Hue support regarding The Philips sync app not connecting to my Hue lighting through the Philips smart bridge. Initial contact was good with Level 1 support. Level one support took me through all the basic troubleshooting and confirmed proper setup.
Case was escalated to level 2 support on March 20 2026. Initial communication with level 2 was a repeat of Level 1 communication and did not respond until April 3 2026 followed by a response on April 7 stating that Philips is researching the issue. This response ignored my question about my 2025 LG TV / Smart Sync being supported by Philips. At this point I started investigating on my own and found that there is much customer disatisfaction with this Smart sync app. Many connectivity issues along with non compatibility problems with 2024 and 2025 LG TVs that Philips claims are compatible.I've sent several emails requesting escalation and response but still I'm hearing only crickets. I'm left to wonder if Philips is down playing / ignoring a compatibility problem until they fix it or significant support short staffing or maybe both. Either way this is bad look for a company that charges a premium for their products because they are normally well engineered, typically work and fully supported. I'm disappointed in Philips and would not recommend any philips product that is connected to the "Smart Sync" app. Note to Philips: invest in customer product support, despite a short term hit to the bottom line, it pays huge dividends.
I have quite a lot of hue devices and they were good but more recently they’re just really buggy and don’t work as expected. Hue Sync moved into the main app and now it’s really flaky. My garden lights randomly flicker, don’t work or I can’t use the nice seamless light transitions that worked so well before. Very expensive set up in the first place but I’m seriously considering throwing it all out.
I bought a Bridge hub for £50 so I could manage my Philips Hue bulb via Wi-Fi for a programming project I am working on, however right after I purchased, I discovered they gated the ability to connect it to the router wirelessly (rather than Ethernet) behind the more-expensive "Pro" version which costs £80. So I attempted to cancel, but there was no option on their website. I went onto their Twitter and asked to cancel it over DMs, only for them to say they couldn't. They changed their tune when I told them they were legally required to allow cancellations before the order has shipped, citing the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and said they would refer me to the manager who would email me the next day. They never did. Now the package has shipped. I will be refusing delivery and using the refund money to buy a much cheaper smart bulb from a different company that allows direct control over Wi-Fi, unlike Hue bulbs which require a £50 Bridge or £80 Bridge Pro.
I have bought philips hue flux lightstrips.
What I did not know: they use proprietary protocol to connect to them.
Meaning that if you bought longer strip than needed, you will NOT be able to reuse the remaining part of the strip.
Indeed, you would need a second "controller box" for that. Philips told me they are not selling this part separately.
Proprietary protocol + no possibility to purchase spare parts => ecocide and waste of money.
That is a deliberate engineering choice and that is a shame.
All day delivery not stated until after you are notified of date, very few people can stay in all day. Changing to another all day delivery is not helpful. UPS are useless and behind the times. Will never order direct again and with such a lack of consideration towards customers I am unlikely to use purchase any further products.

In our home most of our lights are Philips hue with some are colour and white ambiance some are white ambiance. In colour ambiance we liked the colours they are looks beautiful. But for white ambiance we like only warm white and white. Cool white and daylight white is looking uncomfortable for us. If we connect hue lights with Philips hue bridge then with the app we can control our lights from anywhere. We can connect upto 50-60 lights in hue bridge. Then we can control our lights from anywhere. This is very useful especially in winter when day is short and we can use app even in the workplace to switch on the lights. It is very helpful when going to vacation or holiday and if there is outdoor camera then we'll watch the darkness of outdoor and switch on the lights so other people will think house owner is there inside the house. It is good safety for home and mislead and confuse burglars that someone is inside. Also we know the lights are on or off and the colours of lights through Philips hue app and Alexa app.
If we want a particular colour for light when always switch on we have to set the colours in settings of the Philips hue app. For that we have to go settings of hue app then select device and select lights and smart plugs and select individual lights and select light behaviour at power on and select custom. In that you can select the colour of each you always want when lights switch on.
It is very good to use and very helpful in winter and when going on vacation. Also it's very good working with Amazon Alexa so we can not only switch on and off but also change brightness, colours like that with Alexa. We also set routines of automatically lights on at sunset and automatically lights off at sunrise in Alexa. Also set routine to all lights off when said "Good Night " to Alexa. Also we set routine in automation settings in Philips hue app.
If the Philips hue app goes crash or not working properly try by clearing "cache" of the app. For that select settings and select app and select Philips hue app then select storage. Click the storage Then the right bottom there is cache. Then click that to clear cache. Sometimes it will help to working the app for Android phones.
