YaCy is an amazing achievement

YaCy is an amazing achievement! a personal search engine you can run on your own desktop or even a portable Live Linux OS on a thumb drive. It sports many of the same back-end features as a conventional commercial search engine but without intruding on your privacy. Fully configurable, but to get the most out of YaCy requires a rather in-depth knowledge of search engine technology, but is usable as-is. It has a light footprint as unlike a centralized search portal YaCy's search index is distributed so that the database is shared between users. It also includes a web-crawler so you can crawl your own choice of websites to add to the shared database.
