Yellow Zebra Safaris was founded in 2012 with a simple ambition: to build the best safari company possible.
Today, we are recognised as one of the world’s leading safari specialists, creating tailor-made journeys across Africa designed by people who have genuinely lived and worked on the continent. Our team is made up entirely of former professional safari guides, camp managers, and individuals born or raised in Africa - people whose knowledge comes from real first-hand experience, not brochures or sales scripts.
We believe the best safaris are built on honest advice, strong opinion, and a deep understanding of what makes each destination special. That’s why we invest heavily in continual research across Africa, ensuring our specialists regularly return to the camps, lodges, and the top game viewing areas they recommend. When you speak to Yellow Zebra, you’re speaking to someone who knows the realities of safari travel - from the rhythm of a game drive to which camps consistently deliver the best guiding, atmosphere, and wildlife experiences.
Our approach has always been refreshingly straightforward. We don’t believe in pushy sales tactics or over-polished luxury travel jargon. Instead, we focus on giving clear, experience-led guidance that helps our clients spend wisely on the experiences that genuinely matter most to them.
Behind the scenes, our operations and guest experience teams include people who have worked with some of Africa’s most respected safari brands and camps. Combined with our 24/7 emergency support, dedicated medical support, and African office network, this means our clients are looked after from the moment they book to the moment they return home.
We’re proud to have been named Europe’s Leading Safari Company at the World Travel Awards for eleven consecutive years, alongside recognition from Condé Nast Traveller UK and Condé Nast Traveler US. More importantly, we’re trusted by thousands of travellers who have chosen us to help plan one of the most important trips of their lives.
At Yellow Zebra, we believe safari should feel personal, authentic, and deeply connected to Africa itself - its landscapes, wildlife, people, and stories. Standing out from the herd has always been part of who we are.

We were deluged by competitors of Yellow Zebra shortly after committing to the safari, which actually made the decision a lot tougher. Eric and Anita.

Ellen Cantle is a gem of a person, and an even better planner. She was eager to answer all of our questions (of which we had many) and spoke with us on the phone multiple times to address concerns we may have. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was to work with, and we cannot wait to take the safari she has planned for us.

I spoke to a wonderful person called Edward Lane. I felt he really listened to what I wanted and was able to run down options and what each one meant in a way that was easy to understand.
He was very knowledgable and friendly.

In the spirit of candor, I have not yet taken the trip so I am just reviewing the booking process.
The process was efficient, professional, and very helpful in terms of providing information and assistance. I am very excited to take my safari trip to Kenya this summer.

From the very first contact our experience has been outstanding. Jason listened to what we wanted to experience and came back with options that made sense. He knows the products so well as he has experienced it.
We had to delay a year as my husband had to have knee surgery. Months later we picked up right where we left off.

We haven’t made the trip yet but planning by Yellow was top notch.

Having had another unbelievably fantastic trip to Botswana last November we have just finalised another trip to Botswana for October. We have travelled with YZ most years since the firm was established; at least once a year but more often twice a year. We will travel with them in May to Zambia. We have never been disappointed and any issues that arise are instantly dealt with by the team on the ground. Roger & Lesley HIlls

As someone who usually plans all travel holidays myself, when faced with the idea of combining a SAFARI, with an already booked 58 day Cruise from Mombasa it appeared as had three options.
1. See if I could find a Safari company in Kenya and make contact with the site directly to lower costs etc.
2. Wait for cruise company to announce a pre cruise Safari they arranged.
3. Find a company who represents several options in Kenya who could best match up our specific needs to available locations for n Kenya
Crystal Cruises didn’t announce thier option until late fall of 25, I didn’t want to wait to arrange that late.
I talked via email to three Safari agent companies , Read reviews and did my due diligence.
When communicating with Eleanor in London she suggested she call me in the States , to get a clear understanding of our travel experiences, needs, likes and dislikes so she could present me some options. The process was thorough and she explained every detail from our arrival in Nairobi to our transit back to Mombasa.
When the quote itineary was sent I was blown away by its detail! We ran into one issue where the original site we were to go to was overbooked, but Eleanor and the team fixed that Quickly by upgrading to Hemingways OL Seki , a new itineary was sent etc. When handed off from Eleanore to the rest of the team ( Jo and another lady who’s name escapes me now), they arranged our pick up at Nairobi Airport, ( We were met at the gate and whisked through immigration and customs in VIP line to our waiting Van to drive us to our hotel The Karen Gables inn for three nights, the driver also arranged a tour for us on Sunday to the City, the National museum and the Karen Blitzen house. Elenor had recommended the Gables inn and it was perfect, dinner for two with candelabras each night, pool great owners.
Jonothan the driver from wilderness was a great guy and helpful guy. He also stored our luggage for us at Wilson airport met us on return flight and when he heard I had not arranged a car in Mombasa while driving he called that hotel and a driver was waiting there!!!
At OL SEKI , upon arrival in Masa Mara Sydney our guide met us and b came a Freind to us both, the Safaris themselves were awe inspiring life time recollections we will hold close to our hearts forever.
We saw all but a Leopard, Sydney found it all and some times many times, we saw two prides of Lions with two mal s and 19 cubs and lioness after the kill of a Wilderbeast. We tracked a Cheetah for one half hours… even from our tree top patio we took pics of Elephants , Giraffes, Zebra and Buffalo.
The manager of OL Seki Deb was great she was always checking on us!
The unit we had was unbelievable , my daughter asked if we were in a tent , I said kind of as the rook was canvas, but the walls were almost 360 degree glass!
Huge bed, outside inside showers, coffee served at 6 am through a portal in your room. At night a Masai security guard walks you back to your unit , he has a stick, our last night two lions roared near our unit the guide stopped us, then got us inside safely!
Honestly , I am a fussy frequent travler of over 40 years, I usually find something I don’t like or an improvement I can suggest but in Yellow Zebra , Wilderness Karen Gables and OL Seki … they were perfection !
This trip is a celebration of our 50 th anniversary and you folks at Yellow Zebra were the ones who made it all possible!!
We had no worries , everything was like clockwork with efficiency and the highest of Quality!!
Thanks / Cheers to Eleanor, Jo her group and the teams at Karen Gables, Wilderness and even the pilots in Kenya.
Ps; I should note on board ship I have spoken so highly of you folks a few guests have asked for the name for thier consideration. will also tell you Crystal excursions are now managed by A&K Thier owners and those tours have been terrible!

Guy went above and beyond to address all of our questions. Extremely responsive. Our operation lead, Nancy, has been equally responsive and patience with changes to our itinerary due to flight scheduling and changes. Thank you.

Matt made booking our trip very easy. He listened to what we wanted to get from our holiday and suggested some ideal camps and experiences. He was able to talk with knowledge having visited these camps himself and went out of his way to ensure the arrangements fitted with our other holiday plans.

From the beginning they were very candid about expectations and put together a great itinerary based on all the feedback from our conversations

Our adventures in Tanzania far exceeded our expectations. Jo (our main contact at Yellow Zebra) helped us with our planning and was wonderful to work with. We asked her many questions and she was very patient and knowledgeable. We were very pleased with how our adventure turned out. The Yellow Zebra organization is very professional and covered ever detail. The operations team gave us thorough instructions on preparing for the trip. The team on the ground, which we could contact 24/7 by What's App, was great and although we had little need to contact them, the couple of times we did, they got back to us right away and our issues were resolved seemlessly. We stayed at 4 different lodgings all run by Lemala and they each worked perfectly for us. The staffs at each of them were welcoming, kind and very helpful. The food and accommodations were very good. We were very comfortable at each one. The first was Hamerkop House where we spent two nights and got over our jet lag. We relaxed by the pool and had our first intro to some animals on a walk through the golf course. The second was on Mpingo Ridge/Tarangire and the view was breathtaking. Although not elephant migration season, we saw an astounding number of them as well as so many other animals: giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, warthog, lion, and others and many, many different birds. The third was on the Ngorongoro Crater Ridge which made it easy for us to beat the crowds to the crater floor in the morning - - was very helpful even with our travel month being in the slower season. In the crater we saw cheetah, black rhino (at a distance), hippos, lions, ostrich, flamingo and so many more. The last was the migration camp and we didn't expect all the comfort we had (especially for showering with piped in water - we had thought it was going to be brought to us in buckets). We visited Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti (the part where the wildebeest migration was in February). In the Serengeti, along with probably a million wildebeests and so many little ones running along side their mothers, we learned so much about animal behavior, saw a leopard in a tree and then stalking for a wildebeest meal, a pride of lions after a wildebeest kill and a vulture food frenzy as they cleaned up after what was likely a gazelle dinner. The two driver/guides we had made our trip both educational and lots of fun. Our first guide (Simba) was provided by Yellow Zebra (Wilderness Destinations part of the compay) and our second guide (Florence) was provided by the Lemala Ndutu Migration camp. Having the two guides worked well for us as they had different styles and the jeeps themselves were different with the Ndutu Jeep open sided. It was nice to experience both. I could go on and on about our guides but they were beyond amazing. Also, the village tour we had in Mto Wa Mbu was educational, interesting and lots of fun and we saw a lot of different aspects of the town: banana plantation, school, two coops (one for painting and the other for woodworking), the town market and a pub that made its own banana beer. Lunch at a local restaurant was delicious. Our guide for the village tour was also amazing.
Overall, our group of 4 had a terrific time and have had a Tanzanian glow since we arrived home on February 12. Thanks again to Yellow Zebra for making our trip so special.

Eleanor was fantastic, she offered great insights and was patient going through many iterations of our travel plans. She was quick to respond and readily available to discuss. I was talking to two other providers at the same time and Yellow Zebra came 1st in both service and price.

Ellen is extremely knowledgeable and helped us plan a trip that is exactly what we required and within our price range.
This is the second time we have booked an African trip with Yellow Zebra. Very happy both times.

Our travel agent with Yellow Zebra meet our expectations and more. Joanne was very thorough in questioning what we expected from our trip and met it beyond what we thought. I priced out two other travel companies and Yellow Zebra far outweigh the competition. We really enjoyed our trip to Tanzania the safari and every step Joanne organized for us. We would highly recommend Yellow Zebra for your African Safari.
