I've been using YNAB for over a year now and it's changed my life. There was definitely a learning curve and took a few months to 'get into' zero budget planning and using the App to check my account... See more

Tiny suggestion
It's easy to use once you get used to it. The only suggestion would be for those who make the same every week, it would be nice to set up repeat deposits split to the various categories and have it count against the assigned amounts.

Responsible shoe shopping
i have never been able to keep to a budget until YNAB. It outlines all the bills coming up and how every dollar has a current or future job. This stops you overspending when you see those new pair of shoes on sale :)
I actually look forward to using YNAB
Budgeting has always stressed me out. I’ve tried it so many times and then given up.
But I have been using YNAB daily for over a year!! It’s helped me really know how much I have and where it’s going. I feel in control and it longer stresses me out.
And using the app every day is something I actually look forward to!
$200 bucks for a Sync app that doesn't sync with appalling customer support
STAY AWAY from YNAB. I have put up with them for so long because I took so much time to build my budget, but the value is officially gone. I am currently paying nearly $200 CAD a year for a premium budgeting service that fails at its most basic feature Direct Import.
I switched to Rogers Bank (Rogers Mastercard) as my primary card, only to find YNAB doesn't support it at all. On top of that, my RBC connection is a total disaster. I have to re-authorize it almost every 24 hours. When I reached out to support for help, I was repeatedly brushed off with scripted responses telling me to "just enter transactions manually." If I wanted a manual spreadsheet, I wouldn't be paying $200 a year for automation.
I finally spoke to a Support Manager, who admitted their "fix" for RBC likely wouldn't work and then hid behind policy to refuse any sort of service credit or extension for the months of downtime. Their only solution is You can leave if you want. Truly disgusting!
YNAB clearly doesn't care about the Canadian market. They are happy to take our money—at a massive exchange rate—while providing a broken product and dismissive, "take it or leave it" customer service. Do not waste your money. Now I have to find another competitor and lose years of budgeting history I painstakingly built with YNAB.

This has put everything on autopilot…
This has put everything on autopilot for me. My spreadsheets worked for a long time, but it was frustrating have multiple bank accounts to "bucket" my expenses and to track when something was spent on a Credit Card or paid for with a check. YNAB keeps an accurate view while those things are hanging out there so no concern for overspending. HIGHLY recommend!
YNAB is Feature Rich and Excellent
YNAB is a great platform for managing your personal finances. Coming from other tools like EveryDollar, this learning curve was a bit steep due to having way more features but this is the best thing about YNAB. We can integrate all of our accounts and get full coverage. Another great thing that might not matter to non-technical folks is the API. As programmed by trade leveraging that has helped solved some tricky duplicate transaction issues but haven’t really needed to use it after that and again the feature set offered by the YNAB platform is great and gives users real control over there data and finances to help them achieve their best outcomes great product would recommend to anyone interested in budgeting and finances any day.
3 Currencies, 14 accounts.
I use 3 currencies and 3 plans to manage my setup, as I work with US customers, reside in another country and having a 3rd country tax residency.
I actually dropped using YNAB as I had over 10-12 accounts in different currencies and reconciling took me 3-4 hours each week.
I came back, created my own app with Claude code and using YNAB API I sync my accounts within 10-20 mins.
I purchased a book and now I am using YNAB to plan, schedule payments, repay liabilities and get calm about my finances, which is the main part I use YNAB-)

I love YNAB
I love YNAB it helps give me perspective on what my lump sum of money in my bank account actually needs to go to. It is helping me get out of debt and save for things that are important to me. I wish I would have found it sooner.
Steep learning curve, pays off.
There was a steep learning curve, but with persistence it has become my favorite budgeting tool by far. I am a very manual person, and for that reason have opted not to connect my accounts or debt; because of this, I wish there was a more flexible way to set up credit lines built into the UX. I’ve figured it out for my personal use, but was frustrated for a bit up front.

Highly recommended!
I’ve been a longtime user of YNAB. It’s a wonderful resource and app! The peace of mind that comes from actually knowing where my money goes is invaluable. The longer I use it, the more its teaching and philosophy shape how I think about spending and decision-making. Highly recommended!
Great for my budgeting
YNAB has been a great addition to my budgeting! I've been using it for a littler over a year. I was confused at first but was able to figure it out after watching some of the helpful videos. I always recommend when I can.

Best way to plan ahead and stay ahead
Enshitification has begun
YNAB has recently updated their T&C's. They are trying to remove peoples ability to bring class action lawsuits against them if needed. For now, the app itself is still fine. But a step like this shows the enshitification has begun. Think twice before signing up with them.

Great Product but lacking Aussie bank connections
Great Product, just doesn't connect to Australian banks. Have to use a 3rd party software (budgetfeeder) for extra fee per month.
Great budjet control expirience
Great budjet control expirience, everything is clearly documented and I can se every single money destination. I can now control my Credit Card, my bills and my loan.
Good product to better understand cash…
Good product to better understand cash flow. Glad I started using it about 6 months ago.
