RIP Off Charges £55 for a policy that never started

I was emailed by confused comparison site, saying my car insurance was due for renewal (it wasn’t but I trusted the email). I proceeded with the quote and chose Zen. No cover was ever issued as my renewal date was not reached, I noticed the error after paying ZEN an annual payment I cancelled the policy. They have charged £55 for the privilege of giving me no cover. I hope the see this review and sort it out immediately and refund the £55
