Unreliable, Unresponsive, and Unprofessional

Review

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Zephyr Environmental and cannot recommend their services. If you are a homebuyer in need of an asbestos survey, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

1. Repeated Failure to Deliver on Promises – I was assured multiple times that my report would be sent by specific deadlines, only for those deadlines to pass without any update or explanation. Initially, I was told it would be sent by Friday or Monday. I was then told I’d receive it within 30 minutes. That didn’t happen either. I had to follow up repeatedly via email and phone, yet my emails were ignored, and my calls went unanswered.
2. Lack of Communication – Despite multiple attempts to get in touch—six unanswered calls on Tuesday alone, plus two more on Wednesday—the company failed to respond. There was no proactive communication from their side to explain any delay, apologise, or even acknowledge my requests. This is entirely unacceptable, especially when dealing with something as critical as an asbestos report for a property purchase.
3. Excuses Instead of Accountability – When I finally did receive a response a whole week later (alongside my report and invoice), they claimed they never received my emails, despite me providing evidence that I had sent them. They suggested the issue was on my end, yet they had no problem receiving my initial request or sending me their invoice! Blaming technical issues rather than taking accountability for poor service is not a valid excuse.
4. Misleading Turnaround Time – The company is now claiming that the turnaround time was only ever a “guide” and not a promise. However, they explicitly told me they had requested an “urgent turnaround” and gave clear deadlines that they failed to meet without warning. If they know their timelines are unreliable, they should be upfront about it rather than making commitments they cannot keep.
5. Unacceptable Customer Service – Instead of acknowledging their failures, apologising, or offering any goodwill, they attempted to downplay my complaint by arguing that three working days is an acceptable turnaround. This completely ignores the fact that they made repeated promises and failed to honour them, while also failing to answer my calls or emails.

For a service like this, reliability and communication are critical, and Zephyr Environmental failed on both counts. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend using a more professional and responsive company. If you need an asbestos report for a property purchase, you don’t want to be left chasing a company that ignores you and fails to deliver when promised.

Response to their likely reply: If Zephyr replies here claiming they never received my emails, I have evidence that I sent multiple emails that went ignored. If they say their turnaround times are only estimates, that does not excuse repeatedly missing deadlines they themselves set, nor does it excuse failing to answer phone calls over a three day period, or proactively communicate delays. If they say they are a “small team” and “busy,” that is not a valid excuse for poor service—if you take on work, you must be able to meet your obligations.

Bottom line: If you need an asbestos survey, find a company that respects its customers, communicates professionally, and delivers on its promises.

P.S. I’m happy to provide call logs and emails as evidence to verify that everything stated in my review is accurate.
