I would have give less than one start but no option here. I posted my property for rent in Zillow and paid $30 for premium listing all of sudden one days account is blocked and I tried to reach the customer service to know and resolve the issue, the customer service rep created a case and said that I will receive response as in 24hrs however I haven’t received any after follow up she said she escalated the case but no response since 2 days I need to send payment links to my tenants which is blocked and I couldn’t find any new tenants due to the account blocked.

I am very disappointed in Zillow’s customer service. I was trying to set up my bank account for Zillow rent payment but was not able to verify it. First of all, they don’t have a direct line for ZG customers, and kept sending me to voicemail. Secondly,. I reached out via email and sent screenshots of bank not being verified. I did not hear from them for 1 week and I was close to my rent payment date. It’s surprising that company like Zillow has sh** customer service.

Their customer verification process is a joke

I put my property twice on Zillow site for rent . Both times , last year and this year I got response from criminals . Last year was a guy who stole identity ( I found the real person ) , this year , I’m just dealing with him currently, a guy who sent me such a fake photo of his American passport that it’s literally a joke . The worst thing is that last year I informed Zillow about it and they were asking me all the questions like I was the criminal whereas I was doing them and their customers a favor. Their verification process is a total JOKE . They are the only site I’ve been having issues like this , not to mention twice in a row . I looked at the profile of the guy “Neil Thomas “ ( btw. there is 0 information about him anywhere on the internet) and there is practically 0 information about him on Zillow . They have his credit score and income, that’s it ! Where in the world does Zillow take that info from ???? Maybe they’ve become too big or maybe they simply don’t care about their customers but to everybody who trusts them and put their property on Zillow site, PLEASE be super careful ! Ask potential renters / buyers for id, do your own check ups , look closely at the id. Luckily because of this , no harm was done to me but it’s very annoying. Zillow , you are not being professional!

I thought Zillow is a legit…

I thought Zillow is a legit website/business and they use honesty in their business practices, but I was very wrong. Zillow is like a badly run SCAM business. I had my property listed for sale and was not able to sell it for 2 months. Then, I decided to take it off listing for sale on Zillow's webiste to try to rent it via their website. I made several attempts to contact Zillow via emails and phone calls to have them remove it from the listing and no one contacted me back. In the meantime, I was losing money by paying the HOA fee and insurance, for this property each month. After more than 30 days, I started contacting Zillow again, and then they finally get back to me only via their internal mesaging system. No one from Zillow called me back ever! They did take my property off the sale, but I had to jump through the hoops to get it posted for renting it. They also had my listing posted on their website where people can see my rental with pictures. However, after just 24-hours, Zillow grouped all the properties in this community and to get to my property you had to click on the community's name and my property was listed as the last one. This significantly decreased the number of views of my property and I know that's not how my property was listed in the first 24 hours when people were able to see my property on the initial page. They probably did not make any money off of me, so they changed my listing. Zillow is a terrible business and I hope they start losing money like I lost money because of them. I also believe people who run Zillow publicly misinterpret the current real estate market conditions just to make it look better than what it is since their profits depend on it. Zillow is a SCAM a provides false information on their website and make it difficult for people. Zillow, please do not reply to this message with a cliche" we care about our customers", blah blah, blah becaue I know you do not care.

I don’t understand the lack of communication people want to rent and sell their homes and you cannot get a hold of anyone. I send a request for someone to call me they don’t call I called and leave a voicemail. They don’t call back every time I find a home I can’t get a hold of the owner or have anybody from Zillow. Call me back this is absolutely a ridiculous waste of time!!

They redirect inquires to other properties.

They direct inquiries into your listing to other properties!

I recently tested what happens when I inquire into my property for rent listing . Much to my surprise my email was flooded with links to other properties advertised on hotpads.

Thats correct! So you advertise a property, for a fee and zillow directs the inquiring party to other properties..

This seems like a violation of trust and a fiduciary duty. Why advertise my property on a website that push feeds other properties to someone who inquires into mine.

Zillow should be sued and then disbanded into pieces.

They should be sued

They should be sued. Their is an implied contract of service when you enter into an agreement to market your rental. At the very least the software of the provider should work in a reasonable fashion.. Good luck with the zillow..

The rental management software is full of bugs. Like others I have found myself with missing scrollbars, replies that are full of garbage computer code, and other problems leaving me unable unable to communicate with tenant applicants in a reasonable and timely fashion.

This costs me a landlord time and money.. How about loosing a month of rent because the software I rely on doesn't work right?. How about hours trying to find work arounds when I cannot respond to an inquiry?. How about hours going back and forth with their customer support staff? How about the frustration of wasting my time when I have a busy schedule?. Oh, and I paid for the 'premium service'..

Their customer support makes up excuses and suggests work arounds. Clear your cache to make the software work they say.. Try using your email spam folder... Change our email settings.. Once they told me it was my router..

They have acquired most of their competition and have obtained a dominant position in the marketplace..There are not a lot of alternatives.

As consumers we need to be protected so that when a company obtains a monopoly position, the service that they provide must be reliable.

Clearly, their interest of zillow is in generating revenue vs quality of their product.

As a former software pro, I know how important rolling out updates without disruption is. I also know that this is possible with the right amount of effort.. I don't see other web sites changing their screens and having them suddenly become non-functional...

Somehow these guys miss the boat or just don't care..

There should be a class action against zillow for all the landlords who have lost time and money due to their inept software operations at zillow.

Zillow Rental Manager Program is disappointing at best.

I use Zillow to list properties that I have available to rent. I gave them 2 stars since they do seem to give my listings decent exposure. But the functionality of their site is the worst of any online business. For example, you are unable to scroll down to look at past messages and inquiries. If you get a message or inquiry, you better write it down because when you get the next inquiry, the previous inquiry is no longer accessible. Also, they do not let you delete messages, inquiries, and applications. So once you have declined an application, it will still pop up and make finding current, suitable applications more difficult. I called them on these and other issues. The person on the phone was pleasant but offered no solutions. "That's just the way we do it here at Zillow."

I had a bad experience with Zillow

I had a bad experience with Zillow. I applied to rent a house through the Zillow application. The Zillow application asks for your social security number, birth date, etc. and runs a credit check on you. It asks you to upload proof of your income and asks for lots of other information. I filled out the application which showed I had sold a piece of property and showed the income from that for this year, in addition to two other incomes. I had said in my application I want to sell my current home and rent. Zillow sent all of my information to a private party, a person renting their house, not a rental agency. The homeowner came back on me and told me to sell my house first and then give him an entire year's rent upfront. The listing was for month to month, I proved I had beyond the income needed to rent, my credit score came back at 817. So I reported to Zillow that the person refused to rent to me with verified income and that he told me to sell my home and pay him a year's rent upfront. All Zillow did is tell me they are keeping his ad to rent up and told me it is my fault if I give out my personal information. It is Zillow's program; I obviously did not personally give my information out to anyone. Zillow blamed me, when it is Zillow's rental form that I filled out and Zillow gave to the potential landlord. They should have asked the landlord why he changed the rent to one year's rent upfront. Also, this concerned me for potential id theft, so I put fraud alerts in with all 3 credit reporting agencies, and I told both Zillow and the landlord I did so.

Zillow Rental Fraud

Zillow Rental services fraudulently advertises that a $29.99 application fee for home rentals will apply for 30-days on any homes you investigate renting from management companies that advertise their property’s for rent on the Zillow site. Today two separate home rental management firms in Sacramento California stated that they don’t authorize the use of Zillow pre-qualification services and that the Zillow charge was fraud. Basically the Zillow fraudulent clam resulted in my family a $29.99 charge for nothing since the qualification process they say is being done on our behalf is not recognized by rental management firms.

Can affect badly your credit score.

The 1 star is a gift from the software. We applied to rent a home through Zillow, and the owner did not disclose that the house had HVAC issues. It wasn’t on the website. She made us run our credit and everything to let us know later that the house wouldn’t be available for the day we had agreed. Now we gotta find another place and run our credit again because they ruined for us. Dishonest.

Zillow is a scammers delight!

Used Zillow for house rental for my team in town for a build. I applied in the company name and listed the occupants by name and company email. The first occupant was contacted and told that the company needed his application and credentials. He applied and his identity was stolen. I contacted Zillow, called, opened service tickets and no response to date. I did a search and found the "owner" on the listing is not the owner of the house. The house is not for rent or sale on any other site. This wasn't a new listing either. After more research, I found that this happens often and scammers use Zillow to bait potential buyers and renters I to providing application information to not only steal identities but to set up rental payments and deposits. My advice, stay as far away from this site as possible!

DO NOT use Zillow!!

DO NOT use Zillow!!! Especially the Rental Manager service and NEVER set up payments for your tenants to pay you! Their site is not safe! The tenant's money will not get to you even though their rent payment clears their bank you will not receive it!
Forget contacting Zillow about it. They won't respond to any emails or return any calls.
Then the tenant has to file a claim with their bank to get their payment refunded so they are able to write you a check. This recently happened to me. It has been a nightmare!
Clearly, Zillow is not safe anymore.

I am a landlord listing properties for rent. I have had multiple issues. I have submitted multiple tickets, left multiple voicemails and gotten NO RESPONSE.

I am paying $9.99 a WEEK to list my properties and I cannot get any help. The message tool will give me an error saying "This message did not send. Click here to try again." I will continue to try and it doesn't work.

If you find a number online to call Zillow (specifically 206-470-7000), the line makes it IMPOSSIBLE for you to get in contact with anyone. It only allows you to leave a voicemail or refers you to the help website (which is zero help at all).

I will no longer be listing my properties here.
