I have been looking at rental…
I have been looking at rental properties. I drove over an hour to see a property that was not really for rent. It wasn't even vacant, and not supposed to be posted. The person I communicated with tried to scam me into sending them money. Also deleted the posting by the time I arrived at the home. They were persistent and kept reaching out to me. Be careful and make sure transactions are legit.
I got scammed
I paid for an application so I could find an apartment to rent . It doesn’t allow me to submit it to the Landlord but it took my money. I feel the whole app is a scam and I def got scammed !
Property listing easily hijacked
My property was accidentally listed for rent by a neighbor who clicked on the locator map zillow provides. My pictures and home facts are gone replaced by the room for rent pics and info.
Zillow says they can't restore my page as it was. I know the internet has history but their tech department must be ignorant of how to access. It was only one week back.
Zillow Stole My Rent, My Landlord Never Got It
Zillow was great at first. Allowed me to apply for multiple properties with only a $35 application fee. Got into my house, and landlord wanted to receive rent through Zillow, totally fine. Made my first payment through FLEX Finance because I am a single mom and FLEX allows me to split my rent in half. I've used FLEX since living on my own and I absolutely love them and their customer service. They really seem to care, unlike Zillow. Zillow stole my first month's rent, and to this day still has $2700 that is not theirs. They are keeping it for who knows what and aren't allowing me to even get into my account to do anything. I had to pay $5300 in rent for my first month in my new house because one month went to Zillow and another I gave straight to my landlord. It's been over a month now and Zillow is still holding that money. Customer service is emotionless and careless. They just said, "Oh, we cannot refund that money because we don't have refund process." Absolutely horrible. Don't do business with Zillow if you can avoid it.
Terrible Experience, would not use.
Signed up with them and my rental was posted in the wrong area. When you clicked on my new rental home a green trailer home come up. Took weeks to get problems corrected by the IT department. Mean while I am losing money. Keith always answered the phone to help me get the problems corrected, and then stopped responding. I was going to use them for management, but fired them for not getting anything right. They held $4000 of my money for weeks, even after asking for my deposits. Ended up showing and renting myself after it was finally posted in correct location and information. Only used them since they would not post my listing after paying a realtor to put it on the MLS. Tried to bill my tenant for monthly rent after I fired them. Used their credit card without authorization, that was on file for initial payment.
Zillow Rentals: A Masterclass in Incompetence and Indifference
If you value your time, your money, or your sanity, avoid Zillow Rentals at all costs. My experience with them was a trainwreck from start to finish — and they still haven’t taken responsibility.
Here’s what happened:
Zillow successfully withdrew my rent payments from my account for two consecutive months… and then failed to deliver the money to my landlord.
Their excuse? A mysterious “verification issue” that neither I nor my landlord ever needed in the first place. To this day, they have not explained what triggered it.
When pressed, Zillow’s “support” team sent me nothing but copy-paste policy jargon. Not a single direct answer to my questions. Just empty words designed to stall.
They actually told me they couldn’t refund money they had already taken unless my bank first confirmed they couldn’t do Zillow’s job for them. That’s not a process — that’s a scam with extra steps.
And when I tried to stop future payments using their own cancellation link? Surprise: the link didn’t even work. I emailed them demanding confirmation that future payments were terminated. Silence. No response.
This isn’t a rental service. It’s a black hole where your money disappears, your landlord is left stranded, and you’re handed excuses instead of solutions. There’s no phone support, no urgency, and zero accountability. Zillow Rentals handles people’s housing payments with less competence than a fast-food drive-thru.
I eventually disputed the charges with my bank, and thankfully they’re resolving it. But the fact that my bank — not Zillow — had to clean up Zillow’s mess tells you everything you need to know about this company.
Zillow Rentals has wasted my time, my landlord’s time, and has shown nothing but contempt for the people who trusted them. They are incompetent, unresponsive, and unworthy of handling something as critical as rent.
If you’re even thinking about using Zillow Rentals for payments: don’t. Run. Unless you enjoy being stonewalled, ignored, and robbed of both money and peace of mind, stay as far away as possible.
NO STARS FOR ZILLOW!
I would give this platform no stars if possible! Unable navigate the desktop or app versions. Landlords send messages that are inaccessible with links sent by Zillow. There is no easy way to contact Zillow for customer support. I may have lost multiple chances to rent an apartment because of major glitches in the software.
Terrible website, poor customer service - from an IT guy
Terrible website and that is from a 30 year IT guy. I placed an advert as an owner for a single family home to rent. Everything seemed fine with the complete rental address specified, the description and the pictures uploaded. For some reason, when I published the advert, it shows a different city in the State. How the hell does their system fabricate bs information for a paid advert is beyond me?. Even the contact number was incorrect. Unfortunately, there is no provision to add a screenshot here of a renter responding to me with the wrong address on the screen.
Customer support is useless. You cannot call anybody and I contacted them by filling a form. However, the customer service reply said that they changed the address. Yet, a renter contacted me and I see a different city on the screen. Not a reliable site to trust when false information is being provided to renters. Worse still, no real customer service to talk to somebody. When you try to give feedback, it asks whether renter or Landlord. When I clicked Landlord, it took me to FAQ or automated assistant. The entire site is a joke.
Zillow Worst Site Never Works
Zillow sucks, worst site you will ever use! Looking for a place to rent should be easy, fill in parameters such as how much you want to spend, square foot, city looking in, etc, should be that simple but not on zillow, their site sucks, nothing works right ever. There isnt even a way to contact anyone there. Worst site i have ever used for this specific kind of searching.
Zillow rental manager is the worst way to collect rent
Zillow rental manager is the worst way to manage your property if you aren't a huge corporate landlord. I managed a property with rental manager. At first, everything was fine. However, Zillow started hanging on to the tenant's payment for longer and longer. It already took them 5 days to process the payment to begin with. Then 6. Then 10. Then a month. The final payment I allowed them to process we didn't receive at all. It's been over a year. Support is non-existent. I had to go through some crazy back channels to get anyone to help. Even when I did get through, the support I reached technically wasn't for single property landlords so they were reluctant to 'help'. I use help loosely because they didn't actually help.
Look up template leases and use those. Use another service for background and credit checks. Stick to zelle and venmo for payments. Better yet, cash.
Zillow Rental Manager Steals your Money.
Zillow rental manager steals your Tennant's rent money. They steal the rent money that your tenant pays and you as the landlord never receives it. There's no one available to help with this on Zillow's end because they hire another service to take care of the payment processing. My tenant last paid through the Zillow Rental Manager in Dec of 2023 and I never received the money. One year and a few months later, their system still says it's processing and this money has yet to reach my checking account. After a year of not receiving my money, it's safe to say they have stolen the rent money from the property I am renting out. After this experience, reaching people from Zillow to help, and never receiving my money, I have no idea how they are still in business. The rent started out being a few days late entering my checking account after the tenant paid. The time it took for the rent money to reach my account through Zillow Rental Manager started getting further and further apart. First a few days, then a week, then two weeks, then a couple months. Until one of the times the tenant paid, I never received the money. A year and a half later, still no money. They steal your money and they don't help you get it back. It is also almost impossible to reach anyone to help you and when you do reach someone, they can't actually help you. Beware, this is a scam. Stay away from this payment processing service, they steal your money.
Disgusting rental manager app/software
Disgusting rental manager app/software, BEWARE. Did fine for letting applicants apply and arranging lease with tenants.
But AWFUL at anything else, specifically rent payments. I have a wonderful tenant that pays often 3 or 4 days before 1st of the month. Even so, I do not get my rental payments from Zillow until at least 5 business days past the 1st of the month EVERY TIME. It ALWAYS takes over a week to process. My mortgage payment is late, HOA fees late, utilities late, and it’s solely Zillow’s problem. They should be paying my late fees. Disgusting. Impossible to get in contact with, they already know how terrible their service is. STAY AWAY if you want to collect rent.
Zillow is the Worst
I work for a property management company that uses Zillow and honestly, Zillow is crap. First, it's confusing. People think they can book a showing through Zillow for our properties. We don't see any showing requests. Second, people think applying on there means we receive their application. We don't. They have to apply directly through our website and if they apply through zillow for one of our properties, they are wasting their money on whatever Zillow charges. Again, confusing for potential renters. Third, when someone calls us directly, the annoying "This is a Zillow lead" automated message plays, which sounds like a telemarketer call, which prompts us to erroneously hang up immediately when we hear that automated message, thinking it's a cold sales call. Fourth, potential renters do not understand that while their inquiry feeds through to our system, we get tons of those inquiries and do not have the staff to respond to each one, which is why we have an automated response email that many of them don't see. Fifth, when we remove a listing from our website, which should automatically remove the listing from Zillow, it doesn't happen. We've had people call about properties that we haven't managed in years saying they saw the property for rent on that site. Finally, we have an automated response email (as previously mentioned) that prospects are supposed to receive when they make the inquiry, but it often goes to their spam folders and they don't see the message with our phone number to contact us. Zillow is the worst out of all the mass rental websites.
The app itself is ok but Zillow need to…
The app itself is ok but Zillow need to stop promoting some of this nonsense these landlords need to be ashamed for putting some of this junk up for rent then have the audacity to ask a arm and leg Attention All Landlords no one wants to pay 1000.00 to live in a home where the windows haven’t been updated since 1960, and no one uses dirty funky brown carpet anymore, update your cabinets were not in the 1950’s my god ,and paint all your damn wall one descent color , put some good flooring down ,and have the house cleaned before a showing Some of you are terrible and down right cheap the law needs to crack down on landlord abuse then about 80 percent of you swindle people out of deposits people should start suing you all you should have your properties the way you would want to live 50% of the homes in stark counties look like abandoned homes on these rental sites and the city should be notified but this is what Zillow is getting paid to promote shame on you all.
i like zillow
i like zillow, not once have i had any problems i am surprised at the reviews. i would like to see 3-6 family houses or apt buildings, just a little more, my only issue not a bad one either.i give five stars. i know i would never use rent cafe, they advertise bad unihabitable housing , i know fact, im in one.speaking what i know and for myself.
Delusional and unprofessional agent
This review is for Zandeep Kumar who is associated with Zillow, for the harassing and delusional email I received from him this morning. I was considering on renting a property through this agent, I accepted a job offer in Virginia I am currently living in Florida. I did not get the job in Virginia I informed him that via text i gave him a 500.00 deposit but I did not sign the lease because I no longer needed the apartment. I lost my deposit which is understandable, but I am extremely confused and uncomfortable by his email I received today saying that rent is due and to please pay in order to avoid any penalties. I never stepped foot into that property and I never put my signature on anything, he was very adamant on renting this property to me but I was not able to take it, I have proof from our text that I never moved forward with this apartment or put my signature on anything. he also said in the text that he understood and he will find another tenant. This is a very serious situation, and I will take any legal steps necessary if he decides to proceed with any kind of penalties.
No customer service / Incomplete data
I've tried 3 times to resolve a rent & sale simultaneous listing not showing. The Zillow FAQ says to contact customer service to resolve this. Tried multiple times with zero response and no resolution. Zillow customer service is broken and the quality of their data and consumer usefulness is suffering. Consider using other platforms for complete market information.
Update: It has been weeks and zero contact from Zillow after four help requests. Realtor.com shows both listings; I suggest everyone use it for a complete market view.
Zillow-So big they don't have to care about little ole you
I am a property manager/leasing agent. Zillow completely locked my account abruptly with zero message/notification as to why or how to resolve it.... "Customer service" if you can call it that, is minimalist via email only, and what you do get is extremely slow, terrible, and barely helpful once they do respond. This shows Zillow is so big, they don't have to really care about your puny little insignificant problem at all.
A message regarding the details of why the account was locked, how to go about getting it resolved, and more responsive and personable customer service options would go a long way here.
Too bad Zillow is as big as it is... There are no comparable alternatives, they know this, and it has gone to their heads.
Update: A day later and after a robotically heartless and unapologizing email initially asking for proof we own the building or are authorized to list it for rent, and the proof being submitted to them immediately, there has been no response back as of yet and the account is still locked.
I would have give less than one start…
I would have give less than one start but no option here. I posted my property for rent in Zillow and paid $30 for premium listing all of sudden one days account is blocked and I tried to reach the customer service to know and resolve the issue, the customer service rep created a case and said that I will receive response as in 24hrs however I haven’t received any after follow up she said she escalated the case but no response since 2 days I need to send payment links to my tenants which is blocked and I couldn’t find any new tenants due to the account blocked.
I am very disappointed in Zillow’s…
I am very disappointed in Zillow’s customer service. I was trying to set up my bank account for Zillow rent payment but was not able to verify it. First of all, they don’t have a direct line for ZG customers, and kept sending me to voicemail. Secondly,. I reached out via email and sent screenshots of bank not being verified. I did not hear from them for 1 week and I was close to my rent payment date. It’s surprising that company like Zillow has sh** customer service.
