I would NEVER recommend Embrace Pet Insurance. I had a policy and paid premiums for 24 months before submitting my first claim. They waited till first claim to do ANY checks and disclose any “pre-existing” conditions they refuse to cover. How about operating with integrity and doing this right upfront? They will hide behind legal disclaimers saying it was “optional” but who wouldn’t want to know what’s excluded from day 1? NOT after paying 24 months of premiums that they won’t return. Imagine if health or life insurance worked that way??? Pay your premiums and when you get sick we will inform you this was a pre/existing condition with zero coverage…. This is completely shady!

We strive to be as transparent as possible about our coverage requirements, and prior to completing the purchase of a policy—whether online or over the phone—all policyholders must acknowledge and accept that they understand the information and requirements related to waiting and exclusionary periods, the exam requirement, and pre-existing conditions. This step is in place to ensure clarity regarding what is and is not covered under the policy.
When a policy is first purchased, we offer an option to complete a complimentary Medical History Review upfront for your pet. It is essentially a complete assessment of your pet's health history and is offered so you can feel confident in your pet's coverage! It provides you with a detailed report of what is considered pre-existing and not eligible for coverage. However, if this review is not requested by the pet parent, we do not review the medical records until the time of the first eligible accident or illness claim submission. This information is also stated in our onboarding emails.
The first accident or illness related claim submitted will typically take about 30 business days to process. During this time, our claims team works directly with your vet provider(s) to gather the medical records we need and pre-existing conditions are determined directly from the notes provided to us from your veterinarian. This policy ensures that pre-existing conditions are accurately assessed and helps us provide fair and consistent coverage for all policyholders. We understand your claims did not turn out the way you anticipated and you've spoken with a representative regarding your concerns, but if you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out and we're happy to assist as we are able.
