First time ordering a bra online…

I ordered a bra online for the first time and am very happy with my purchase. I saw it in my local lingerie shop originally but it wasn't available in my size. I tried on another bra from same brand and when that fitted well I took a chance and ordered the one I wanted online from Ouh La La. It has worked out well luckily.

Amazon.ie packages left at doors that don't even have gardens for some protection...

I recently noticed two good size packages in Amazon wrapping outside houses in Dublin 8 on different days. They were houses with no gardens and given the weather recently it was lucky they weren't getting wet and hopefully weren't stolen in advance of the homeowner getting back. That doesn't qualify as customer service as anyone could take them when passing by and I wonder what happens if they were taken that way. I also noticed recently unmarked vans doing some of the Amazon deliveries and I reckon that might be an issue too. I know there are no options on Amazon.ie to change a delivery or address near the delivery date which is a major drawback compared to other delivery companies. At least An Post have parcel depots if a person is not at home and DPD have a great collection option in designated local shops. Why can't Amazon.ie do that or at least have eg. 24 hr secure collection areas along the lines of the pre Brexit Parcel Motel setup which was a great company. I wonder do Amazon even bother to read these reviews or are they just so big now that they couldn't care...

Review of Road Safety Authority

Badly judged TV ad...

My only experience is with some of their TV ads. The worst one is the older lady crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing. When the young driver sees her and stops the tagline that comes up is "watch out for older pedestrians on the road." That suggests drivers should only consider older people crossing and everyone else is fair game! All they had to do was leave out the word "older" as drivers (and cyclists for that matter) should be watching out for everyone. It's such an ill judged ad that probably cost a fortune...

Good customer service...

I ordered an item I haven't been able to source in Dublin. I got an email to say the item I required wasn't in stock and if I wanted to go ahead with the smaller verison. I responded that I preferred to wait for the size I ordered which I then received this week. I was impressed that they gave me the option of waiting for my original order or going ahead with a different version which I would have sent back as I don't like the smaller size.

De Vielle Luxury Rechargable electric hot water bottle

I ordered a De Vielle Luxury Rechargeable Electric Hot Water Bottle recently from Lenehas. It was delivered within a couple of days and was a gift for an older lady who is unwell. They are delighted with it as it stays hotter for longer than a regular hot water bottle and also the safety factor not worrying about a regular bottle leaking. I would definitely recommend to others.

€1 for basic 3 month ad increased to €14.99!
Daft used to charge €1 for a basic 3 month ad which was great value. However, they have now put their basic ad cost up to €14.99 which is a 1400% increase!! This is also without even advising customers in advance of this change. I always felt €1 was too little in fairness but to do such a jump in one go is more than unfair...

First time I have signed up with Blue Ins…

This is the first time I've signed up with Blue Insurance for holiday cover. I found the process easy and felt it was competitively priced. However, unless I had to make a claim, I have no clue as to whether that would be as smooth a process and I hope I don't have to do so over the coming year...

Review of McAfee

If your search engine keeps reverting to Yahoo...

I'm with McAfee internet security for a number of years and I don't have an issue with the security provided. What I DO have and issue with every so often and more so recently is that it keeps changing my search engine from Google to Yahoo. No matter how many times I delete Yahoo and reset Google it reverts again sometimes after a few days, sometimes weeks later. I recently went to my IT shop and their technician advised it is McAfee who keep changing it because of some arrangement/contract? they have with Yahoo! He made some more technical adjustments and so far so good but it's only week one! I'm going to change provider the next time my renewal is due as no company should be able to change the search engine preference of any customer on an ongoing basis.

Review of Wowcher

Be careful when ordering footwear...

I ordered a pair of women's ankle boots in size 6. What arrived was size 40 which are too big. I can use an insole but that's not the point! Over years of buying shoes (and all footwear websites) size 6 equates to a 39 but Wowcher responded that 6 is a 40 in their sizing! I asked them why doesn't their website then show footwear in the EU sizing they're being sold in (but got not reponse to that question). If that had been the case I'd have ordered size 39. If I even decided to order a size 5 I'd probably end up getting a pair of size 38! That was a few weeks so BE AWARE if you're buying footwear. Also their response was to then tell me the factory had since closed down yet their website and numerous other websites are still offering the same shoes?!

Review of Ups

UPS needs to update rules around deliveries...

I'm highlighting this issue in the hope UPS tighten up their delivery regulations. I got an email from Amazon to say a parcel was delivered to me on the 17th Dec. I contacted company and was told logging system may be inaccurate. Due to the time of year and late deliveries from another company I waited until the 7th Jan and contacted UPS again to be told a "Johnathan" took delivery.  No one called Johnathan lived in my street and I was thinking I'd have to start the tedious process of informing Amazon/the seller etc. That very evening I answered a knock at my door. The lady told me her partner (Johnathan) had taken in the parcel before Christmas on the understanding it was for their neighbours (who they knew were away for Christmas and the New Year). When the lady called to the neighbours on their return they said it wasn't for them and on checking the label they discovered it was for my address (a different street and road name)! Maybe it was a fluke with the particular driver on the 17th but any driver who only reports a first name and no house/street number should by told by the office to do so on future deliveries! If a driver leaves a parcel at another address, the person who takes it should be asked for their full name plus to say their address verbally. That might have alerted the driver with my package that the street had a different name! Those details should then be on the UPS system and a person who was checking on a late delivery might have some chance at least of contacting the person who took it in (esp if it was a completely different street)!

Review of Its4women

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I moved from Itsforwomen as they didn't…

I moved from Itsforwomen as they didn't offer any rebate due to lockdown. I'd been insured with them for a number of years and never had any issues. However, I was disappointed this year when they didn't offer a rebate to customers who couldn't use their cars during the first lock down and now a second. I sent an I-message in May re same and got a negative response but I then saw in the newspapers since that numerous other companies had done so. Therefore, I decided to change my insurance when it became due this week. In doing so I managed to save over €60 in the process so that more than made up for not getting a rebate. Maybe they will be more amenable in future to customers that stay with them in relation to a rebate given the ongoing situation. To answer Its4women response to this review they offered a small rebate off the coming year's policy. Other companies offered the rebates back in May/June for 2020 and at that stage none of us thought it would go on this long. Now there is rumours from some companies of another rebate next year. Therefore Its4women are technically only offering a 2021 rebate in my opinion

Thank you for your review Marian.

AIG our underwritter has introduced a range of measures to support customers through COVID-19, including priority repairs, free breakdown service and courtesy car for HSE and front line professionals. Low traffic volumes, due to the restrictions on movement in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, have resulted in lower-than-expected claims costs. AIG has committed to passing on savings which result from the change in the underlying risk environment through price reductions at policy renewal. AIG believes the most meaningful way to offer value to customers is not by one-off rebates but through the renewal cycle. AIG is pleased to be offering customers a 4% discount on their AIG premium at renewal.

AIG has confirmed that they are introducing an individual “Reduced Driving Period Discount” to reflect savings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its4women customers whose car policies are due for renewal with AIG between 1st August 2020 and 31st July 2021 will have a discount applied to their renewal premium. The applicable discount amount will be displayed on the premium breakdown of each renewal invitation.

Review of Bed Bath & Beyond

IF YOU'RE AN INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMER I SUGGEST YOU READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE PURCHASING

I ordered a piece of wall art from BB&B on the 4th Aug and took delivery in Ireland on Saturday 16th Aug. As soon as I opened the box I noticed one of the main colours was nothing like it looked online (it was orangey rather than a pale gold) and immediately it meant the item wasn't suitable. There is also an obvious shadow type mark in the middle of the piece which even if it was ok colour wise it would render it unsuitable. I emailed BB&B the next day (including two photos showing difference) and got automatic reply and ref no. Two days later no word so I repeated process and got a 2nd ref no. After no response to either email I then decided to ring their freephone number. I spent the next six evenings with the phone on low volume for up to two hours each evening! Finally on the sixth attempt a girl answered! I gave her my two ref numbers plus a synopsis of issue and the fact I was ringing from Ireland. After about 30 minutes including more holding she told me she was putting me through to a different section! I then spoke to a guy (I have his name) who after another half hour said he'd have to pass my details to the international section and they'd contact me by email!  The total call was just over three hours!!
I got an email the next day (1st Sept) saying they were trying to assign my case to the appropriate Dept?? As it is a very large company surely they have an international returns section?? A week later I emailed again as I heard nothing in the intervening time. All I wanted was the returns address plus the relevant form to complete (as they're not available on the website). Today is the 18th Oct (another seven weeks later) and I heard nothing since. At this stage and because my first email re the matter was sent over eight weeks ago I have given up rather than continue spending time trying to sort the matter out.  Therefore, based on MY experience, I'd advise any overseas customer to steer clear of this company rather than take a chance like I did!
