Exceeded our expectations

Definitely recommend. We used PackRat to move from Colorado to Florida. Everything was great and timely from initial quotation, communication, container delivery, pickup, storage, and delivery to our new address. Wouldn't hesitate to use PackRat again.

They were very professional move from…Fl to back home

They were very professional move from one state to another. Delivered the pod when they said picked it up on the day they said. Delivered it in the other state and picked it up the same day as scheduled. Very pleased.

Relocation made easy...

This is the second time I used Pack Rat and I'm very please with each experience. The staff was so accommodating to my needs and directed me every step of the way. I had to move south for my job, then return to the north once finish. Not only did I move, but needed my things stored until I found a house. This was taken care of also. Then when I was ready to received my pod, it was delivered on time with no damage to the items inside. I'll recommend them to anyone who is in need of moving and/or storage.

Report this company to the Better Business Bureau

I'd recommend everyone who had a bad experience with Zippy Shell/1-800-PACK-RAT to notify the Better Business Bureau (BBB.org). It's my greatest wish that they lose their accreditation and implode like so much garbage.

I used Zippy Shell for a long distance move. The pick up went well, but everything went off the rails after that. I was lied to about the expectancy date for my furnishings to arrive to my new location. I was told the representative "misspoke, and was being retrained". I asked when the new ETA was and they quoted another two weeks. I asked them to confirm the location of my belongings at that time and they actually could not confirm that my belongings had even left my hometown. Within those next two weeks I did not hear from them; I had to contact the company several times to make sure the items had left and were being directed to me. On the next expected delivery date I was told the delivery would be delayed another week because the third party delivery service they use was "down a forklift". I'd like to emphasize the fact that ONE forklift delayed delivery for a full week.. ONE fork lift brought this company to a grinding halt!

During this move I was told (another lie) by another representative that they could compensate me -$50 per each late day; they did not. I was also made to sign an agreement that indicates two half (50%) payments; one half before pick-up and one half at drop-off. The agreement also clearly stated 'NO storage time/immediate delivery'. I was charged a month storage and the second payment I made was more than the first payment made. When I questioned the second payment I was directed to a hyperlink on the agreement (which is not part of the signed document) that indicates third party fees.. quite literally a hidden/undisclosed fee.

Lastely, I experienced an unfortunate event during this move when my pet passed away. I don't blame this company for the passing of my pet, but the fact of the matter is that I had moved into an empty home and waited for my furnishings. My pet's bed was part of those furnishings and it keeps me awake at night with the thought that my pet wasn't comfortable and did not recognize his surroundings before he passed. I'll never forgive myself for putting him through this move.

I reported this company to BBB and did not get the outcome I had hoped for, but would like to urge others to do the same if you have similar experiences. I have found several more reviews like this one (some much worse) on different platforms: yelp, google, trustpilot, consumer affairs.

This company is fraudulently representing themselves as a moving service and they are not one. They outright lied about their service dates/times/pricing. They contract third parties to move your belongings while not being responsible for the outcomes, which also leaves you without recourse when your belongings are damaged or go missing.

Please do not give this company your business! They're cheap and there's a reason for it.

UPDATE: They've replied to this post and done absolutely nothing to resolve the issue with me. I haven't even been contacted. Total bullsh!t artists.

Can't be trusted with your life stuff...

*Make sure you put an Apple tag or another geo location tracker with your stuff so you know where it is. They will not tell you with any accuracy or honesty. And only the dispatch manager knows what’s going on so make sure you ask for them if you want to know where your stuff is.

I had no problems ordering for a cross country move with them. They even dropped off the container and provided good communications until after they picked it up. The problem was once they had my container and were supposed to transport it.

They waited 19 days from the time they picked it up to begin to ship it. Which is one day from the time they were supposed to deliver it. I had been calling asking why it had not moved (5 times) prior to it shipping. Each time they said it’s on schedule and not to worry even though no one checked on it. 7days before it shipped, I calculated it was impossible for my container to arrive on time (11hrs driving limit per day which is approximately 600-650 miles and a day for transfer to local service for delivery). I called and they agreed and revised the date by adding an additional 8 days to the delivery time. 8 days later and it’s still not here. I call but there’s no urgency in their response.

They keep telling me they’re sorry but it happens. It’s the busy season. The truck broke down (really). The carrier never got scheduled. Hard to believe. The family is suffering and stressed out. No idea how much longer it’ll take them to deliver.

Have used them twice and a friend of mine has as well. All great experiences. They are on time, competitively priced and have some really great people that work for them. Equipment was all in good condition. Always will be my first call.

100% PLEASED and SATISFIED!

From start to finish, Pack Rat was FIRST RATE. they delivered a pod to my residence, held 'til I was ready to move, and then transported my pod from California to Tennessee. I have been impressed with all personnel associated with pack rat. Absolutely EVERY phone conversation and experience with each driver was absolutely perfect. Prices were fair (even better after moving from CA to TN, LOL). I would recommend Pack Rat to everyone for your moving and storage requirements. They are THE BEST!

One star is far too generous. You deserve a negative star rating. 🐀
You own Zippy shell. You and them are both responsible for not delivering on time, delivering the wrongs in the wrong order. Charging us for the first month you said was free, not picking up the pod when you said you would. Oh and I’ve been forgetting this on thee reviews I’ve posted but dropped the shell at a terrible angle and completely forgot to supply a ramp, I had to unload the pod with no ramp. All my tools worth thousands of dollars and weighing hundreds of pounds with no ramp. Super Rad. Missed our second delivery as well. Also you never follow up.

Update on Experience

Update: "Social media resolution team" followed up but unfortunately issue was not resolved.

They said the warehouses had no official record of changing the lock. Apparently a couple calls constitutes an investigation and if its not written down - nothing could have happened. They kept saying "no evidence", "unfortunately, there is nothing else we can do" and "no one else I could speak to", and "max we could do" is to hire a locksmith and submit a claim for reimbursement. They asked for my pictures and refused to acknowledge the difference in before and after pictures. After significant resistance, I walked them through the pics to point out the 2 lock locations: one on the left (before) and a different one now on the right (after), (not to mention the keys dont match) - the rep ignored my comments and just said they saw no difference (note: these are their own units and their own locks that they sell/provide). Also rep kept saying, "we're not suggesting you're lying", and then proceeds to then imply i'm lying by saying locks shift around and theres nothing there in the pics. Locks apparently can pop off one hole and onto another hole by itself? I took a few more "after" pics because apparently photo evidence is in the eye of the beholder. Thankfully i had not yet cut the lock. I have to now apparently find a locksmith and handle the issue myself but the main issue really is just its disturbing to not know what happened and whether things were tampered with over the 7 months they had possession.

The impression I got was they were trying to avoid any admission of wrongdoing (on a call they mentioned was recorded - w/o asking my permission i will add) and just repeated canned responses - rather than really trying to help. Intentional or not, it also just feels super shady, amid a very weird situation. Ultimately, I just want to know what happened and some ownership of this issue.

I scheduled a move from California to…

I scheduled a move from California to Missouri, with delivery of the empty unit over Memorial Day Weekend. Everything went just as planned, & the crew were very friendly and efficient. We had several days to load it, & they returned to pick it up the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Delivery on the other end went just as smoothly. The reason I chose PackRat over PODS is their containers are all steel, and the PODS units didn't seem as sturdy for a long distance move. I was apprehensive at first with using this company but, after their sales rep assured me in writing that the quoted price would be the total, I'm very happy with the experience and would recommend them.
