Customer service concerns....

This may be one of the worst credit card companies out there. You call to communicate an issue to them and you will get different answers from different staff members even managers who you speak to about the same issue. Do not get a credit card with this company. You will regret it.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. I informed them that I was a furloughed federal employee so they set me up on a payment plan of $15 a month for three months. All of the payments went through yet they charged me two late fees and reported me as late to the credit bureaus. NEVER USE THEM!

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. No customer service whatsoever. Don't wait till you have an issue and need assistance from their customer service. Will be none other than pre-scripted messages. Avoid if you don't want frustration

Horrible banking experience

Horrible banking experience. Couldn't get my name and email updated after multiple petitions to do so. Trying to pay my payments through an absolute nightmare of an app experience. Ended up in collections twice because they wouldn't change my information. The final kicker was paying up to date to be told I was one day to late and would receive additional late fees. Would not waive it even though I had tried multiple times to correct the situation. Will never work with this bank again.

Absolutely THE worst

Absolutely THE worst. They make it hard as possible to pay the bill. Oh, you can pay by phone, for a $9 charge. Had a check sent to the a month in advanced, only to show it not received, until 2 days after the due date, and they tacked on a $30 late fee. Want to talk to a human? Forget that, not available. Can't wait until the balance is paid off so I can shred everything to do with Comenity.

A bunch of delinquents

Sadly, this company is quite delinquent. Ann Taylor uses this bank for their credit card. I went to make a purchase and discovered my card had expired on 10/25. They did not send out the new card. What company doesn't stay on top of keeping their customers' credit cards from expiring? I called to request a new card. They said it would take 48 hours. This was on Tuesday—then the weekend came and went; still no card. I called again on Tuesday, a week later. I'm not sure what happened to the 48 hours, but the representative said 7-10 business days. Not understanding their delay. I'm missing sales this holiday season and lost out on items that sold out. It's my birthday month as well; wanting to cash in on the sales, but can't seem to. By the time I get my card, it will be 3 weeks later from my initial request. I told them once I make my purchase, I'm out. I'm canceling the card. I've been a on-time paying customer for years and they can't get their act together to stay on top of processes. I requested them to overnight my card after this botched effort. And yet, they wouldn't. Who wouldn't try to keep their customers? No effort was made!

Predatory Credit Company

The familiar "If I could give zero stars" applies here. I wish I would have seen the Google summary for this company: "Comenity Bank, now part of Bread Financial, receives overwhelmingly negative reviews from customers, generally earning low ratings (typically 1 to 2 stars) on consumer review sites like WalletHub, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and Trustpilot." Yes, they are predatory. The return of a $60 backpack and the due date for my payment crossed, yet they insisted on charging late fees. So I ended up getting a $60 refund for the backpack, but paying $85 in late fees for absolutely nothing. After persisting and insisting to speak with a manager, they gave me a $33 dollar credit. But when I had paid the rest of the balance and I got my next statement, they reversed one of the $15 credits and I was charged an additional $10. I have very good credit and I'm tired of dealing with this situation, so I paid the $25, waited 24 hours and closed my account. Please don't learn the hard way. Learn from me and do not have anything to do with this company. I will also not walk into an "Academy Outdoor and Sports" store again. You are part of the problem by working with Comenity for your credit card. Hopefully both Comenity and Academy will end up in a class action lawsuit.

Condescending Crooks

Condescending Crooks! Made up a fraudulent late charge to ensure there was a balance at the end of the promotional period to ensure there was a balance that triggered over $1000 in interest due. Then with an unknown balance I did not receive a notice until an email showed up saying that they had reported me to collections that will negatively affect my almost 800 credit score. Unprofessional! Condescending! Rude! And almost proud of it!!!!

The Worst Bank I’ve Ever Dealt With

Comenity Bank is hands down the worst bank I’ve ever had to deal with. They don’t care about their customers, they don’t care about loyalty, and they definitely don’t care about providing real support. Every interaction feels like talking to a robot - scripted, unhelpful, and completely dismissive of your concerns.

It’s clear they value systems and policies over people. I’ve never felt so ignored or frustrated by a financial institution. If you’re considering opening a store credit card that uses Comenity, save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

Their security and privacy practices…

Their security and privacy practices are abysmal. When I tried to pay off my account there, I had to do it by phone, not online. Their payments website is not https compliant nor are their communications respondable to.

Comenity - Ikea credit card

This has to do with Comenity issuing the IKEA credit card. Just DON'T as someone in governement said not too long ago (just hope you all listen.) There is zero customer service via phone.

Comenity asks applicants to verify their identity when there's been a credit lock by them - fine. Then Comenity asks one to EMAIL THEIR PRIVATE docs to Account Protection Verification at breadfinancial dot com and while that sounds legit, there's no secure upload portal for BREAD FINANCIAL in 2025? Just don't go there with this company.

Absolutely wretched experience. Never again.

Only giving 1 star since this site won't let me give 0. In the ~10 months I have put up with their awful service, they have randomly deactivated my account THREE times due to faulty "fraud" alerts. The first two times their account security team was able to immediately lift the deactivation; now they are randomly asking for a bunch of ID scans and are estimating it will take 2 to 4 weeks to reactivate. Truly the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with; stay well away if you value your sanity.

Late Fees

They seem more concerned with trying to obtain late fees than resolving disputes.

They also seem to provide ones PII (Personal Identifiable Information ) to third party collection agencies… .

Unprofessional

If I could give their customer service -star I would. Very unprofessional customer service representatives and supervisors. Would not listen to customers concern and talk over customer. Closed account immediately and will never open an account at another store that uses this bank for credit service.
