This laptop was exactly what I wanted…

This laptop was exactly what I wanted for my digital photo enhancement programme. Basically, that was a 2600dpi screen with at least 17", 32GB RAM memory with a fast AMD Ryzen 9 processor and a 16GB graphics card at a competitive price. This filled the bill. I have only given it 4 stars because I CANNOT cure the persistent fault of "Load library failed with error 126" and I have tried all of the available resolutions apart from re-installing windows.

Acer do not seem to care about Support for IT products that are older than 2 years

Of all my computers it is only my relatively recent 2 x Acer Desktops that have failed to get the essential Windows Secure Boot 'KEK' updates required by June 2026.

and I'm by far not the only one, see Acer Chat Forums !

They are both newer than some others that are OK, but unlike my others have not had a necessary BIOS update.

Acer do not seem to care about Support for IT products that are older than 2 years....

This is my first ACER gaming laptop

This is my first ACER gaming laptop, I Like the Laptop I bought but it grinds my gears in todays world when a big company such as Acer is still releasing old tech in todays age, an I5 in a gaming laptop is like a lamborghini with a Ford Model T engine with a turbo... it just shouldn't be done!
Like I said, the laptop is great, I chose it but there are too many variables of the same model that it's hard to find out exactly what the spec was, everything I found stated it was an I7, that it could be upgraded with a 2nd SSD and 64GB of RAM, got the laptop, it's an I5, can only accept a replacement upgraded single SSD and 32GB of RAM.
ACER really needs to step it up with the appropriate information on their website and make sure their resellers do the same

Not even deserving of 1 star

If I could rate my experience less than 1 star, I would.

We purchased an Acer laptop in March. After less than 3-months, the laptop no longer works. We sent it back to Curry’s for repair and they advised that it was water damage, which isn’t covered under warranty. The repair costs are more than the laptop itself. We’ve received no proof or photographs of any damage.

We then went to an independent tech company who looked at that laptop and said there’s no signs of water damage at all and that it appears to be a component failure or manufacturing defect. They advised that, in their experience, this happens frequently with Curry’s. They advised we go back to Curry’s to show them their report and insist that they take action to ensure we get a replacement.

On returning to Curry’s I was told that it’s likely that as an independent company have now inspected the laptop, they’re even more unlikely to help.

The laptop is my husbands only laptop and he is self employed - he’s already been without it for over a week, which has a detrimental impact to his business overall.

This is completely unacceptable and frankly I’m disgusted with the lack of support and level of customer service.

I understand that as per the Consumer Rights Act, if a fault develops, it is presumed to have been there when you bought the item. The retailer then gets one opportunity to repair or replace the item. If this fails, the customer can ask for a full refund or a price reduction.

I can provide sufficient proof of all of the above, as well as a report from the independent tech company. The Reddit threads regarding Curry’s warranty also tell you all you need to know.

Really poor payment process

Really poor payment process.

Acer declined my transaction ('reversed' the transaction). I tried twice and spoke tpo my bank who confirmned it. When I phoned Acer, they denied it and told me to speak to the bank.

I went back to Acer and asked them to investigate. I was told someone would contact me by email (that's not much good I'mm trying to buy the computer now) but never did.
Acer sales told me to use a ddebit card rather than the credit cards that I was trying (to get conpsumer protection). The sales assistant just didn't seem to care.

In the end I worked out that the problem was that I was trying to buy the computer for anopther person so the name I put on the order didn't match the credit card name. This shouldn't be rocket science for the sales assistant. But, as I say, she didn't care and made no effort to work out what the problem is.

Added to all this, once I did get my transaction to go through, Acer do not send a confirmation email. Instead the web page displays a long reference number and says that I will be contacted once the order has been processed. This is an incredibly poor customer experience, why can't they simply send the reference number in an email?

Really dissappointing and time consuming experience. If Acer want to know who dealt with this, I'll happily supply the transaction auth code.

New Acer Laptop is a great item

Received new Acer laptop with windows 11 as a present and I am slowly getting used to it as opposed to the windows 10 I had previously. I'm finding the navigation easy xand the layout is definitely a step up from windows 10.

Disappointing Outcome.

Up and running 21 April 2026. But on 27 April, Acer 24 All-in-one wouldn't load Windows11. Tried following the on-screen guidance which indicated a BitLocker key issue. Tried inputting only one (on my phone the second key was off screen) BitLocker key but no joy. Took computer to Currys, Airport Retal Park, London Road, Coventry where they tried for nearly an hour to effect a repair. They tried both BitLocker key numbers without success. They also tried a Factory Reset but that was not possible. Brought computer back home and requested a return through eBay. Now awaiting collection by DPD.

Great value Acer Nitro

I purchase an Acer Nitro, despite many bad reviews for the product. It has an RTX 5060 in it and there are a lot of people complaining that the device overheats and problems with the OS etc.
I have found none of these things to be true, I put 64Gb ram (max) in mine and swapped out the perfectly good 1Tb Nvme for a 2Tb.
I also followed Acers instructions regarding the battery and used the acer software to sync the battery, I get around 4 to 5 hours of use on a single charge.
I also bought a cheap laptop stand as the machine vents from the bottom as well as the sides, no point in restricting the dual fans they are there for a reason!
I have had no issues whatsoever and the build quality is superb. I also upgraded to Windows 11 pro as I had a license for it.
All in all this laptop is great value for money if you are willing to put the effort in to the initial setup.
