A pure scam

Zero stars is the only score they get from me, but this is unfortunately not possible. This isn’t a car rental company, but a pure scam. I could only pick up the car if I paid an extra insurance of 499,- euro for 11 days!! So I refused, but lost a day of my holiday arguing there and get an other car. The financial consequences I have to see if I can get my deposit back, but I fear they won’t pay this back.

Becarefull with these bloodsuckers

They are tricky. They have not been giving back the deposit because of a very tiny scratch.

The scratch happened in an accident which we haven't caused. They are hiring people to crash their rented cars with purpose of sucking the deposit money.

They also take the money from the insurance. So they take for a small scratch which they caused intentionally themselves the deposit of the clients and additionally from the insurance.

This what they do is called organised crime. If u have brain walk but don't rent their cars.

Just from the fact that their cars are all around full of scratches u can notice that they do this dirty games to all people.

In that way they are getting 3 times money:

1. Rentprice of the car
2. Deposit
3. Money from the insurance

And then they say allahuakbar and pray.
Bravo. Munafiks

AVOID - Scam hire company in Sofia, Bulgaria

As per many of the reviews. Picked up car from Sofia (Bulgaria), heavy handed insurance sales tactic, which I did not purchase. Although they took many photos of the car Pre-rental, I never received them. Claimed an email address error. Then charged my card nearly €1,000 for a windscreen chip! No photos received pre or post hire, again claiming an error with the email address - although I booked with the email and received the paperwork informing of a charge via the same email! Clearly a scam outfit. AVOID!!!

Stay away ...

The person who had to pick me up at Bucharest airport to drive me to the agency was 40min late. This was followed by the credit card / debit card scam: they did not allow me to pay the 500 € deposit with a debit card and I had to pay 75€ insurance for 1.5 days (130000 km old car). It is true that it is clearly stated on the voucher. However, since in 99.9% of all payments you will never notice the difference between a VISA debit or credit card, who will pay attention to this? They clearly profit from this. Applying their logic one could not pay anything with a debit card.

THIEVES - close this company down

THIEVES

I hired a car through AddCar in Marrakesh.
I purchased the insurance when I booked the car which covered me for everything.
When I picked up the car they told me I need to pay €1000 euro deposit because I didn’t book insurance. They tried talking me into getting extra insurance with them which was bulls**t. Then when I returned the car they tried telling me I had damaged it because of some tiny scratches which were there when I hired it!!! They then asked for my card to process the refund of my deposit and instead of doing that they took the full deposit amount from my card!! He lied to my face and then denied doing it. Thieving scumbags this company are. Don’t use them. Exploit them. Close this company.

Avoid at any cost

Avoid at any cost. This company is using a scam scheme to charge you for damages if you do not purchase their insurance. I rented a car at Sofia airport and was a victim of the scheme. After realising that I have a UK excess insurance three scratches appeared on the car overnight at the address where I was staying in Bulgaria without me driving the car during those days. I was charged in excess of €1,000 (€300-400) per scratch which I did not cause. The company is a scheme which is on the boarder of being illegal and is definitely unethical to extract money from you or your insurance. This is effect fraud. Hopefully the local authorities after more similar incidents will find away to close this fraud scheme down

SCAMMERS. They stole euro 949.00 from my card.

Be aware: addCar Sofia Airport - also trading as Car1, NU
I was a victim of a planned fraud.
Initially, at the counter the staff exercised extreme pressure to purchase "additional insurance" which was 3 times more expensive than the price of the entire rent. That sounded extremely suspicious as I had never seen nearly so much threats and pressure to purchase additional insurance at a rent-a-car in my life.
Eventually I was given a car which had many dozens of bumps and scratches all around. The rent was totally uneventful. When I returned the car they did pick a small scratch, which was not covered by my pictures (on the upper side of the car). So they claimed immediately a "damage" of euro 949 and charged my card.
This was a pure fraud. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!

Hired from Addcar for trip week in…

Hired from Addcar for trip week in Malta, purchased extra insurance cover via rental cars in UK which were told by Addcar was not recognised as bought through a broker so needed to purchase more insurance from them to reduce excess.
The car itself was in bad need of a service and the clutch replacing.
Not very helpful, abrupt service was given.
I will not use again.

AddCar Marrakech Airport.

AddCar Marrakech Airport.
No office just met up with a bloke in the car park, had an outstanding payment of $36.89 USD for nav system. Upon arrival he told me I had to pay 1,360 MAD about €124 euro or I wouldn’t get the car.. obviously I had no choice but to pay or I was stranded in the car park. Once I finally got the car which wasn’t the one I ordered online I found the navigation system that I hired was a Samsung phone which went out of service about half hour into my drive and didn’t work again for the rest of my trip.

DO NOT Hire Car from AddCar in Marrakech

Hired car from AddCar in Marrakech from 12-17 Feb 2023 via RyanAir portal. Everything wrong & fraudulent with this vendor - collected the from the airport on Feb 12th - the agent was pushy and arrogant and forced me to buy their own insurance product costing an additional £80. He mentioned that the insurance bought from RyanAir is 'no good' in Morocco. Also, their insurance covers all additional costs with no excesses. Going by the general notion of driving in Morocco can be an 'armed combat' and traveling with a kid, I couldn't take a chance and paid for the extra insurance policy - when asked for paperwork, he just wrote down his phone number on a piece of paper. The car itself was filled with dirt and they didn't even bother to wash it before giving it to a new customer. I paid for a sat nav and all they offer d me was a 'derelict' mobile phone with 1% charge with Google maps installed in it. The first thing I did after collecting the car was to take it to the nearest car wash. Now, moving on, on Feb 14th, I was in Rabat with my family when suddenly the tyre exploded in the middle of the city. I called up the number (that was written on a piece of paper) and to my terror he just couldn't understand English. I asked a local person to interpret and as understood I was asked to replace the tyre with a spare that was in the boot - no other support offered. I had no choice but replaced the tyre myself, then drove to a local tyre store to ensure that the rest of the tyres are in driving condition ( as I was 350 Kms away from Marrakech) and then drive back. Now on the day of return (Feb 17th) I met that guy at the airport, told him of the ordeal I had in Rabat... He said that there will be no charges and all will be covered under the additional insurance that I purchased. There was no apology from him. Come Feb 22nd ( back in the UK), I see that there has been an additional transaction of £418 from addcar. Till date, I have been trying to reach their number but there has been no response. I know it's gone be a long and most likely a futile exercise. Lesson Learnt - do not hire a car in Morocco from a local vendor like AddCar. - Avis, Budget, etc. are way more reliable & professional.

Late opening and poor service

The office opened 30 minutes late for drop-off and the customer service was extremely poor, there was no urgency to help us and get the shuttle bus to the airport started. We almost missed our flight as a result of this experience. When we contacted the CEO to report this he was full of excuses and didn’t accept any responsibility.

Rabat Airport hire

Picked car at Rabat Airport, clean and new car Citroen Elisse, very economical on Diesel. Husam was very professional and courteous. No issues when car returned and quick release of deposit. Nicest and smoothest car hire in my experience. Only thing is no office inside airport!

The worst car hire in the entire world…

The worst car hire in the entire world , we booked the car through booking.com to be picked up at airport Menara Marrakesh .
We booked meet and greet , there was no one waiting for us at the airport , we had to ask around and it took us 45 minutes walking around in the airport parking looking for them .There was no sign just couple of guys and few angry customers in front of us . They was a lot of shouting and arguments between the car hire guys and the customers who some of them walked away fuming without their cars.
When it was our turn , we had the same treatment ,very vocal and so rude , they charged us more because booking.com put my wife name as main diver instead of me . My wife doesn't drive and we couldn't get through to booking.com to fix the issue . they tried to give us an old car , it was dirty with a lot of scratches and bumps everywhere . We told them we need another car , they gave us one nearly empty and I was so mad and angry it nearly ruined our whole holidays trying to get in touch with booking.com who were very poor in replying to us and every time we emailed them , we received the same robotic kind of answer . Came back to uk and we called booking.com , guess what , same same answer that they are sorry for our bad experience and they cant refund us the extra money we paid

SCAM - avoid at all costs

Made a booking in Sofia through rentalcars.com, and was conned into paying double the amount of the original booking for "full package" insurance and tolls.

Upon collecting the car, the staff at the AddCar counter were quite aggressive in trying to make me purchase add-ons - either pre-paid tolls (13.50 lev), or "full coverage" including tolls, lower deposit amount and insurance (€25). I already have car hire excess coverage, and so declined purchasing AddCar's coverage. At first the member of staff accepted this, however told me I must pre-pay for tolls - this is correct, however he actually charged me the Bulgarian Lev amount (13.50) in Euro, meaning this charge was effectively doubled.

When it came time to pay the deposit/authorisation hold (€800/1600 lev), the card machine did not seem to accept my card, despite it working for the previous toll purchase. This was unusual, because I have used my card for this purpose on numerous occasions, all over the world. This transaction would not work on 3 separate occasions. When the member of staff suggested that we try an authorisation hold for a lower amount (€250/500 lev, conveniently the same amount that is charged when one purchases the company's full coverage) this somehow magically worked immediately. He suggested that if I pay an additional €10.50, this would bring my payment up to €24, and this would give me full coverage, meaning the deposit amount would only be 500 lev.

The member of staff voided this authorisation hold at my request, and I called my credit card provider to check why the original charge would not go through. My bank confirmed that I had sufficient balance for this charge to work, there was no maximum purchase limit on my card, and that my card was working as normal. My bank said that there must be a problem on AddCar's end, as no record of the attempted transaction was even reaching my bank. I suspect that the member of staff was putting my payment through as some sort of unusual transaction that would mean that my card would always fail (backed up by all the other reviews here that I hadn't seen before booking). This meant that if I wanted to rent the vehicle, my only option was to pay extra and take the full coverage, in order for the deposit to be reduced to an amount that "worked" for my card.

I didn't want to proceed with this, however I had already wasted around an hour of my time trying to acquire a car for a time-sensitive matter. When I tried to cancel the rental and return to the airport, the member of staff refused to refund the amount I had already paid for tolls. It was also quite intimidating, in a small dusty car lot far away from the airport, and with the only route back being with the same staff that were aggressively trying to get me to purchase their coverage. I did not feel particularly safe in this situation, and in the end decided to pay the extra money for the full coverage so that I could get on the road. Once this was purchased, and I went to make the deposit payment, once again this magically worked straight away.

Still awaiting the authorisation holds to be available to my credit card balance again, although I have "void" receipts, and my bank has assured me that the funds have been returned. A bit nervous as to whether or not this will happen based on other reviews.

One of best car rental experience

I do not know, if I was lucky, but if, it doesn't matter. I had too many car rent experience, one worse than other, but...
We had car rented in Greece Preveza-action.
Proactive information and communication.
I get that car, I ordered. It was like new one, clear.
Employee was great, like service support and informations i needed. Return of the car was very fast with no problem. And price was double times less than great competitors.
Best experience. Try in future and hope the same.
