SCAM ALERT...We purchased our Advantage rental car through Priceline and according to my confirmation, it stated that I should expect to pay $68 in full upon pickup. WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS is pay $389 because of hidden fees that Priceline was not up front with. Besides waiting 45 minutes at airport for the Advantage shuttle, we were eventually delivered to a one room brick building Advantage rental office(NOT THE ONE ON AIRPORT PROPERTY). There was only one person working so we waited another hour for our turn only to be surprised with an upcharge because of Advantage minimum insurance requirements of $500k/$500k or you will be forced to pay them their amount for their insurance(I had $500k/$250k so I had to pay more)?!? DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH ADVANTAGE CAR RENTAL OR ANY OF THEIR SCAMMING AFFILIATES LIKE PRICELINE AND EXPEDIA! Everyone on our Advantage shuttle was furious at being UPCHARGED UPON PICKUP and taken ADVANTAGE of by either Priceline or Expedia and Advantage is well aware that this is going on. I received a phone call later that evening and was told how sorry Advantage was that this happened and that they were working to get me a 20% discount off of my rental but I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ADVANTAGE since that call over 9 days ago. Are you getting the picture???

They can have thier polices on line:
Example: to purchse thier insurance policy you need to carry 500k on your private auto insurance, which many people don't have it's excessive and many people didn't even know or have their automobile policy with them.
They were supposed to update my file from six days to seven and they did not and wouldn't refund us.
I feel as though they were taking advantage of senior citizens based on the long line of seniors who were totally baffled by their rules
They also scammed me into believing I needed to have a Sunpass unlimited, which cost us 12.95 a day. Which we didn't need because we didn't travel on expressway/highways and stated that to them at the checkout desk they said it was needed for all of the Florida roads.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Backing up the bad review - For 1 day rental they added $100 non negotiable fees - I wasnt in a position where I had an alternative.

The lady at Buena vista pick up was 30 minutes late so i had to wait also

So rude...... When I questioned the extra price - she just threatened to canel the booking (leaving me stranded)

Stay away from Advantage car rental at 2600 SW 3rd Ave FLL 33315. Their price looks appealing online at first. When you get there, however, they will charge you hundreds of dollars more in fees that no one has ever heard of. Then they will make you sign a document telling you you can't dispute their charges on your credit card. Then they will give you the car you rented with the fuel tank only half full, hoping they can charge you additional gas fees when you return it to them. They will also charge you an additional "cleaning fee" of $150 and tell you that your car wasn't clean when you returned it. When you call their number, someone will answer their phone pretending they are only the driver and tell you there is nothing they can do about it and that there is no one you can talk to. This place is a SCAM!! They do not know how to run an honest business!!

Advantage uses deceptive pricing practices to lure customers to their company. I was quoted $235.63 for an 8 day rental. After they told me I could not use my ExPass for tolls & tacked on roadside assistance without my knowledge the final cost of the rental was $346.81. That is more than 1/3 of the quote I received & more than $100 of additional costs. Advantage said that because they are off airport property I could not use my EzPass for tolls & said if I did they would hit me with a $55 penalty for every toll plus the toll even though I would have paid the toll using my transponder. I was not able to verify the veracity of this. Last time I went to Orlando in October I rented a car from Budget & used my transponder with no issues. I am not convinced that they were telling me the truth & nailed me for over $100 from their original quote for the rental. I will NEVER rent a car from these crooks again!

I wish 0 stars was an option. Spend a few bucks more and use a reputable rental company. This place is so shady. Understaffed. Long wait times. Pressure for extras beyond original quote. Charged extra for returning car 2 hours early. Don't be fooled by low upfront quote. They intend to shake you down.
- Original quote was 149.43 for weekly rental (base on 5 days). - Upon pickup (FYI, the office is a block down the street from the rental car facility the shuttle drops you at), waited in line for over an hour...With only 2 people in line before us.
- At time of check in was quoted higher rate than originally quoted. It was determined that because of the later pick up (due to long wait) the rental period was less than weekly rate. After arguing the rate difference, service agent extended the return time to obtain the original weekly rate.
- Agent aggressively pushed rental insurance despite the fact I carry full coverage. Auto insurance cards were not sufficient; had to download full insurance policy. Still, because the policy used wording the agent was unfamiliar with ("other than collision" rather than "comprehensive") she continued to insist we purchase their insurance coverage -- we refused. - Then agent insisted that $30 roadside assistance charge is REQUIRED in addition to original quote. I suspect this is optional coverage, but after 2 hours we acquiesced to this bogus charge.
- Vehicle was ultimately returned 2 hours EARLY (since return time had been extended 2 hours to obtain the originally quoted rate).
- $80.45 additional was charged to credit card days after return. I called to inquire and was told that since the car was returned EARLY, we were subject to the daily rate instead of the originally agreed upon and paid weekly rate. And was told no adjustments would be made since the contract was closed.

DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY!!

Renting a car should not be as frustrating a buying a car. Every customer in this location was complaining. After their fraudulent upcharges, you are not saving any money, just getting older cars and a one block walk down the road from the shuttle drop off.

I was recently ripped off by Advantage Rent Car, having booked it through Orbitz, I bought insurance through Orbitz. At rental, I refused all the options except the "tolls" option, and signed the electronic pad. WARNING: this little pad apparently lets them check the rest of the options box later. Make sure you get a paper copy of the contract, or just walk out without the car. Upon return, they gave me a contract showing I accepted road hazard and insurance, more than doubling my cost. And yes, they refused a refund, even telling me that they automatically add insurance to out-of-state people because they do not accept third party insurance like Orbitz or credit cards! RUN FROM THESE GUYS!

Would have given five stars if it were not for the long wait at pick-up. Other than that, I was given the option of using my credit card company’s insurance coverage, and filling up the tank on my own. Got a car with only 600 miles on it. My experience is very positive with this company.

What an awful experience in there Orlando office. I had booked through a third party and this was the first time using advantage. I have rented many times in USA, as I have family there. First issue was the toll extra charge. I have my own sunpass transponder so never need this. There was no way the representative was going to let me use this. He insisted their transponders fixed in the car can not be turned off so will bill them. No mater what I said he was not going to let me rent without paying for theirs. Then there was the additional Insurance even though I have my own excess insurance to cover SLI or CDW it was not good enough I had to purchase theirs. I have used lots of car rental companies and they have accepted my transponder and Insurance. We left the lot without a car, will never use this company.

So I called them and asked them if they take chime debit cards. They said they would granted i pay a 250 deposit and show up with proof of residency and insurance. I did all of that and ubered there. I had left my phone at work which I explained to the lady. I was having to use my computer to call uber and make phone calls. i get there and the lady would not accept me because i lived in the city. They accept chime debit cards if youre out of town but not local. I explained that the lady on the phone said that they would if i brought down documentation of residency and insurance. Nope. She didn't care that was stranded in the middle of the night. she was cold and calous to that fact. I had to ride the city bus for the first time of my life for 3 1/2 hours to get near my home. The buses stop running at 12 so i had to walk the last 3 miles in my steel toe work boots. Now i have blisters from the walk and am completely exhausted. I finally got home at 1:00 in the morning completely wore out and still without a car.

Good to mediocre:
The car was nice and drop-off was a breeze! The shuttle service was fine (although had to wait an hour to be picked up).

Bad:
At check-in he sold me on a $9.99 fee for toll roads. It turned out to be $9.99/day. They asked me if I wanted insurance. I said No as I already was insured through my credit card. They added a $14.99/day supplemental insurance anyway. I didn't notice any of this until I arrived at my destination and saw the emailed receipt.

I immediately tried to email and call. I never received responses to my email. I got connected to Advantage customer service (general) on the phone and was told that there was no way to call the rental location. I was bewildered, but had no choice but to trust their word that I would be taken care when I dropped off my car. They did eventually agree to send an email to the Orlando location to request a refund for at least the insurance so that a record would be created.

When I returned the car I was told that nothing could be done at the moment and was promised a call from the manager to resolve my issues at a later date. I had a plane to catch so I had no choice but to leave. I never received a call. I called several times afterward and was eventually promised a refund for the insurance. That refund never was made. It's been three months since the trip and I still have not heard. I called them again before writing this review. I'm supposed to get a call within the next few days. I'll update this review if anything happens.

In the end they charged me well above twice the price I was quoted.

Experienced car hire renter. First time in number of years excess charge put on by car hire company at Advantage, Orlando International Airport after return. Advantage claim I agreed to breakdown cover. I did not. In hands of credit card company, however since then two attempts by Advantage to take small payments from card with no communication to advise why. Reporting to authorities over there with evidence. Use this hire company at your peril

Rented a car from Advantage through Hotwire.com and went to pick up the car at Honolulu International Airport. Their rental office was closed during published business hours. I called their toll-free number and was told that there was nothing they can do, so to go back the next day. I was forced to get a ride to my destination that night and another ride the next day back to the airport to pickup the car. Advantage sent me a document which showed a refund was due for the extra day, but two months went by and they still had not processed the refund. I called them and they said that since I prepaid for the car, there is no refund. Susy R at customer service was very unhelpful and kept repeating herself without listening to what I was explaining.

Before you leave a negative FB, call their helpful number first 407-888-0519, they will try their best to help you. We were not happy about our rental experience in las vegas, we were charged for insurance coverage when we insisted that we didn't need it, after I talked to the lady whom picked up the phone, she solved my problem right away.

Other than the unknown charge, we don't have any other complaints.

Helping yourself is also helping them to improve, so call them first.

never rent a care in advantage rent a car, fort Myers Florida .i drop off the rental car at 5:00am .nobody was the to take the car for inspection and then at the and of the day they charge my extra $350 for car cleaning and the reason was : cigarettes ash in the car. but i never smoke in my entire life plus i have heart attack and obviously not a smoker. they just ripped me off . i was explaining to them that i never smoke , but hopeless. never get my money back. be aware - this company will ripped you off.
