We were in Brasov, Romania and went on the Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress tour.

It was such a well organised tour with a friendly, professional and knowledgeable guide called Tudor. He was brilliant and made our experience an exceptional one. Tudor contacted us the day before to make sure we knew where the meeting point was and to see if we had any questions.

Lots of expert knowledge and great conversation throughout the morning. It was a great and enjoyable day made more so by a great guide. I highly recommend this tour and company.

This was an amazing day trip to 3 beautiful places in Romania. It was a small private tour with another lovely couple & our guide Charlie was an exceptional tour guide, we really had a fantastic day with him.

My partner and I spent the day with our guide Isti today and we had the most amazing day!! The mountains were covered in heavy snow which made the hike more challenging, but Isti was well prepared with hiking equipment for us to use and was caring and patient throughout the hike. He was also highly experienced and knowledgeable. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and it was wonderful to see the countryside and village life in Transylvania. Our lunch at the guest house was a delicious end to our day, with a short walk back to the car to finish. You must experience this day for yourself!

We did the "Small-Group Day tour in Romanian mountain villages" tour in Dec 2025. Andreea was a wonderful guide and our whole family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 8 and 10) enjoyed this tour. We added on the tour of Bran castle which was fun and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Then we hiked around the castle, went out for lunch (which was delicious and in an adorable tiny mountain village) and then hiked through a beautiful ravine in the national park. The whole time, Andreea told us about Romanian culture and history. She did a great job of making the tour fun and interesting for both the adults and kids. She even offered to bring her dogs on the hike and I'm so glad she did, as it kept the kids much more engaged in hiking.

Charlie was an amazing guide. Extremely knowledgeable about Bran Castle and the Fortress. The level of detail he knows and how to answer about those two places and the towns around it. Absolutely amazing!! Loved every bit of it.

Carol (Charlie) and Marian were so nice to us. We booked the tour from Brasov being in Bucharest and they helped us a lot by finding the train to go there so we couldn't miss the tour. Carol, the tour guide, was so charming and funny, you could be talking with him and laughing at the same time. We were with a small Portuguese family of three with whom we were so comfortable, it was all in "petit comité" as we say in Spain, we all had a lot of connection and the tour was even better than expected.

The tour guide Dan was excellent, punctual, super knowledgeable, kind, friendly, patient. Very cool history lessons with awesome views! Highly recommended, as these places are a must visit if you’re in Brasov! Thank you Dan!

I did the Romanian Authentic Mountain Villages day tour from Brasov and it was excellent! Charlie, the guide, was friendly and personable and communication with him and the company was seamless. Really enjoyed the tour and it was a great way to spend the day. Highly recommend!

Saw three wild bears in the forest. Exciting walk in to the hideout. Experienced guide with knowledge of bears and skills to communicate.

I had a great morning with Alex and Dan on this short hike along the seven ladders canyon. We had a small group of 4 and could take breaks as necessary. Remember to bring cash for the admission to the actual canyon itself (25 RON at the time of writing). Pickup from the hotel was prompt and communication was good via WhatsApp! Would absolutely do another hike with them in future when I visit Transylvania again

We completed the “ Small Group Day-Trip in Romanian Authentic Mountain Villages from Braşov today. Alina was our guide. The tour was very well organized by Marian from Active Travel and the hike through the mountains was absolutely AMAZING, at an easy pace, accompanied by a lot of detailed explanations by Alina. The nature that we hiked through was varied and having a beautiful day made it even more breathtaking!!!
The 3 course lunch that was offered at the end of the hike was at an extremely beautiful guest house. It was beyond exceptional-tasty, varied, plentiful and served in a very Romanian authentic atmosphere!!!!

Fun, informative, interesting!

I took a private tour with Mihai in the Bucegi Mountains, and it was outstanding! We spent 9 hours hiking through different valleys and honestly could have gone for more. He knows the right paths to take, how to find some beautiful spots and how to keep you safe amid fears of bears. If you ever need a guide, Mihai is the guide you want.

Charlie was outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the history and culture here. He struck the perfect balance between guiding and giving us space to explore, and his stories really brought the places to life.

He was really helpful with an elderly couple who who were apart of the group, he ensured no one was rushed when visiting the Bran Castle. I highly recommend this trip.

We had an excellent experience with Active Travel in Romania. We were a group of 7 people from Latvia, and we spent 5 days in Romania. These days, we have seen a lot, and also spent some days in the mountain area. I can say that our guide, Charlie, is a huge professional, and we can 100% recommend him. The guides are the best part of the different tour. There were very politie, enjoyable, and nice persons.

The explained us a lot of history of the diferente castles (Peles, Cantacuzino, Bran…).

They also made us feel comfortable, helping us in any moment. We highly recommend all the tours.

Great hiking experience. Challenging terrain in some parts making it all the more fun. Like the idea of small groups and the ladder climbing was amazing. 👍

Everything was perfect. We wish that there were more guides than Dan. He was very authentic, careful (in regards to driving and travel sickness of one of the passengers) and could answer all our questions.
