Like many others on here we got a ‘no show’ for the 8 to midday appointment, but got an email the next day saying the appointment had been cancelled - Doh! No options to get another appointment on their website and couldn’t get through on the phone. M Mouse company!
Please don’t bother to comment about your ‘usual service’ which I would say is usually abysmal.
We were due to have a smart meter installed this afternoon so I took the afternoon off work. At 4pm I received a call saying the appointment was cancelled! The alternative date offered was 40 days away with no other dates available. I wasn't available on the one date offered so they told me I would have to keep calling them to find another date. Cancelling an appointment after the appointment time and then being completely inflexible in finding another date is unreasonable, as is putting the onus on me to then have to waste time ringing them back for another date. If you are having a smart meter installed, insist your energy company doesn't use AES metering.

Terrible company. Why are Octopus using this company? Meter installation booked in today. Was assured I would get a text message just prior to arrival. They didn’t show and I received no communication. After spending 50 mins on the phone got through to someone who’s phone manner was abysmal. Made an excuse that the previous job had complications. I said I understood that but don’t accept not being notified. They were unable to give me another appointment and said I would need to ring in September. I will wait until Octopus sub contract to a reputable company. Let’s wait for the stock reply they give on every bad review they’ve had
UPDATE:- Another appointment booked for today. Exactly the same result. Didn’t bother turning up or notifying me!
Problems with my smart meters for months. Contacted Octopus who informed AES who then sent letter asking me to arrange an appointment. All good to this point but... online booking was impossible because no appointments were available and only 2 months were visible so couldn't even book much further in advance. Telephone line was an endless wait..gave up after 30 min wait on 2 occasions. Octopus no help with securing a visit and no follow up from AES even though they had contacted me initially. Just impossible to get to talk to anyone and arrange a visit to fix my meters. Been 3 months now not being able to get correct import / export readings to Octopus.
Paul fitted my smart meter he was polite, efficient and did a good neat job

Gas engineer came to check my gas smart meter as the readings were going up even after I turned off all gas appliances, (burns test was done as instructed by gas meter people).
Engineer loved the sound of his own voice consistently over talking and has no interest in listening to what was happening. Didn’t know what a burns test was and had little idea on how to do anything. Apparently the “office” has just reset it after he spent 25 minutes on the phone to them. Maybe a warning to everyone please carry out a burns test to see if your meter goes up by itself seems to me that their might be scamming going on. Awful company,

Absolutely abysmal service. Failed to turn up to install my meter, without any contact or explanation. Tried to call them, but gave up after being left on hold for 30+ minutes. Contacted my energy supplier and was told they also had no explanation why AES failed to attend - and there were no future alternative installation dates available in my area. Hope they don't bother with one of their cut-n-paste insincere "apologies". No, I'm not going to waste time emailing your "resolutions" team. In the end I switched energy supplier to get a meter installed by a reputable company instead.
I had a negative experience with a their Job posting. After the interview, there was no update and my follow-up email was ignored. Their response was unprofessional to my 2nd follow-up email and I still never got to know what is their decision on my application, suggesting it may be a fake posting, wasting applicants' time.
Recruitment agent was very unprofessional and she got annoyed of my follow-up email.

After two people at So Energy Solar struggled to get me an appointment to change the Smart Meter, they finally got an appointment for me for today but at 17:59 last night it got cancelled. Rather strange email which “confirmed” the cancellation as opposed to “informing” me of it - read to me as if they were already aware it was at risk but hadn’t previously informed me. I have rebooked in the ONLY slot available between now and the end of August and that is at an incredibly inconvenient time. What chance have I got if a big organisation cannot book a slot for me which gets an engineer visit? The solar installation team from AES were excellent, I wonder if that’s more lucrative work for the engineers that can do both?
Just seen that while the mean rating is 2.9, the reviews are heavily skewed 5:4 in terms of highest and lowest ratings. It would be very interesting to know what % of their appointments get cancelled by them and is there a regional variation? They also seem to have stopped replying to 1* reviews, which says a lot really about how they view the problem IMO.

I have made two appointments first was in May 2023 the second in June 2023 with AES to get smart meters fitted and took days off work on both occasions. Nobody ever turned up and nobody ever telephoned or E-mails to say there was a problem. I tried telephoning waiting for 40 minutes and still never got through. I E mailed them asking for help that nobody turned up, nobody replied. Complain to everybody about this company, your energy supplier, the energy ombudsman, your MP, papers etc.

We had a smart meter fitted by Scottish power and since it was fitted three years ago it hasn’t worked. Scottish power gave us the run around for three years and a month ago we swapped over to octopus energy. Paul Cooke came out to sort it for us yesterday and was brilliant. Polite and friendly he had it sorted in no time. Paul gave me advice about our set up for the upcoming solar panels and really saved me a lot of hassle with his advice. Can’t thank you enough for your help and would recommend Paul to anyone.

The dropping of a star is the faff I had to book an appointment in the first place - there seems to be a miscommunication between Octopus and AES on the Octopus website.

The fitter Riaz Shah arrived on time, very pleasant man, a very efficient and clean worker. Took time to explain everything to us and we are very pleased with the installation.

Second attempt at installing smart meters, the first booking the telephone operative forgot to finalise the booking. This time around it was booked for over a month, appointment 1300-1700. Called at 1500 to confirm they were coming, operative contacted the engineer and they were running late but would be with me at 1700. Call at 1657 informing me it was cancelled. Whole afternoon of annual leave wasted. Should have read the trust pilot reviews and insisted on a different installer.
Been let down 6 times due to staff sickness and general no shows with no communication from them at all. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Very disappointed with the company! Avoid if you can!

Engineer Paul Cooke came out today to find out why my smart meter wasn't working. He was on time, pleasant,polite and efficient.After doing whatever he had to do to sort the problem and still no joy ,he diagnosed that we needed a particular type of antenna . This he is going to organise and return to fit.
