Customer Service Nightmare

I have an extended warranty on an appliance with AIG, through Kitchenaid. Kitchenaid isn't the problem. AIG is a nightmare. There are no people to speak with. When you finally speak with a person you get one phone number after another. The earliest appointment I could get for service is two weeks away. When I asked how to get information about possibly cancelling my extended warranty, two AIG reps told me I had to send an email. They both gave me the same email to ask my questions. I sent the email and got a response that my policy was immediately cancelled. I did not cancel my policy. I have now spent 2 hours trying to find someone who can remedy this, for multiple AIG people telling me "there's nothing they can do and don't know who to talk to." It's a nightmare. I will never buy another extended warranty through AIG.

AIG does not meet the contract requirements

For months, I have been pursuing something fair and simple: reimbursement for medical care I received during my journey on a cruise ship. I trusted the protection offered by AIG when purchasing the insurance, believing that in a moment of legitimate need, there would be support and responsibility.
However, what I find is a repetition of demands already met, requests for documents that were duly submitted, and a cycle that seems more focused on stalling than on providing a solution. The amount involved is modest—about 100 euros—and perhaps for that very reason, it warrants deeper reflection. If there is such resistance for a small amount, what would happen in the face of a truly serious situation?
I am not writing out of anger, but out of conscience. When a commitment is made to protect lives and offer security, it also carries a moral duty that goes beyond contractual clauses. It is about honor, one's word, and respect for others.
My wish is simple: that the company acts with integrity and concludes this process in a fair manner, honoring the commitment made. I hope that the energy driving this situation becomes one of transparency, responsibility, and balance.

SCAM

SCAM. I paid $40 via Expedia for the trip insurance and filed my claim for $890 hotel cancelation after my building was uninhabitable due to lack of running water (all water, toilets, etc.) frozen tanks and pipes risk of bursting, forcing us to stay local till the issue resolved. I have plenty of proof of the incident with 311 reports, local news articles, emails from my building, etc.

The insurance got back to me 2.5 weeks after submitting and they denied approval even though it is clearly listed in the message as an approved

Listed here in policy:
"The following Unforeseen event is added to the TRIP CANCELLATION benefit:
(b) the Insured’s or Traveling Companion’s Primary Residence is made Uninhabitable, or the Destination is made Uninhabitable or Inaccessible, by Natural Disaster (other than a hurricane), fire, vandalism, or burglary;

Uninhabitable means:
(4) the property is without electricity, gas, sewer service or water; or..."

I do not take $900 lightly and would not have canceled it if I didn't see my reason in the policy. I would have gifted the hotel stay to someone, called the hotel to try to reschedule, etc.

Dont do it

Do not get travel insurance with them. Worst company I have ever gone through. Refused to pay out for a claim despite all my friends having gone through the same situation in our trip and having their insurance (different companies) cover them for the same situations. Quoted general exclusions unreasonsably - my friends companies had the same general exclusions yet they were covered. Will quote anything to not payout. Go with a different company.

Very disappointing experience with AIG Travel Assist Inc

Very disappointing experience with AIG Travel Insurance. After submitting all required paperwork, I’ve spent months going back and forth with suminimal refund. The amount they approved didn’t even cover one-third of my actual legit expenses. They have not covered for the days my luggages were lost and disturbances. Their policies are misleading, and customer service has been a complete waste of time. They are quick to take your money but slow to honor their promises. I strongly recommend reading reviews carefully before purchasing

Incompetent or dishonest?

Incompetent and dishonest. My partner had his mobile phone stolen on 23rd November he had AppleCare +. We made a claim -nothing made the claim again 30th December -nothing. An AppleCare manager made the claim again for us on 6th December then last Friday after 7 hours on the phone being passed back and forth between AppleCare and aig AppleCare resubmitted the claim. AIG falsly say that AppleCare was expired it was not and AppleCare have confirmed and we have sent screenshots of the payments confirming this. Aig just keep blaming AppleCare. AppleCare have spoken to aig who told them it was sorted but nothing. Aig refuse to allow me to speak to a manager

Update. They emailed me back today still saying AppleCare wasn’t in place even though it was. They are useless.

Been with aig for 10 years +, absolute joke, scammers

Been with aig for 12 years +, i tried to make a claim when i was off work for more then 10 months Even had medical records in 2021, They said it isnt covered. Even though its written in thier documents. Kept saying im not due to a claim cause i wasn't off ill for longer period of time I find that hard to believe. Had to claim sickness benefits through citizen advice, which is a joke what's the point of having health insurance, waste of my time. I made another claim in 2024 for injury to a point i had to have physio, again they said it wasnt covered. Because i wasnt off ill long enough. Kept making excuses after excuses. I paid amost 2.8k + in total, Im at a point where, they don't care about customers at all. They are happy taking their £8 each month soon as you want to make a claim they don't want to know. Im going to cancel my account this week i had enough.

Our trip to Washington DC had to be…

Our trip to Washington DC had to be canceled due to government shutdown which closed majority of major tourist attractions. First they denied because the shutdown was not a valid reason. We submitted documentation of scheduled events then cancellation notifications because the policy language covers cancellation of scheduled event. They denied that cancellation was due to shutdown and not cancelled by actual venue. Policy language did not specify how event was canceled so just a lousy way to escape paying.

AIG - SCAMMERS BEAWARE

AIG - Scammers
Lodged a claim for travel insurance supplied all documents then waited another 10days. They requested another statement that I had already sent, another 10 days. Then told me my bank acc no was incorrect pls send it through another 10days (30 days so far). When
I lodged a claim with them previously they used “exactly the same tactic re incorrect bank statement”. I only used them as it’s Via Westpac Nz and free on your platinum card. They only paid out “eventually when I started Cc Westpac Credit Card Fraud Team. I will be taking this to the commerce commissioner as it’s not fair play what they are doing. Oh and when they paid out it was in NZ $ not USA $ (which is like half) I went ballistic and informed Westpac to get my funds paid out.

AIG / National Union Fire Insurance – Still Waiting Since JUNE! Unbelievable!

It’s November, and I’m still waiting for a claim I filed back in June. That’s nearly five months with no payout, no updates, no calls — nothing! Their policy says 30 days, yet here I am still waiting.

Meanwhile, they have no issue taking my quarterly payments right on time. They take money fast but refuse to pay customers what’s owed.

If you read the reviews, you’ll see I’m not alone — this is a pattern. AIG and National Union Fire Insurance keep customers waiting, delay payments, and avoid accountability.

I urge everyone having the same issue to report them to your state’s Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR). What they’re doing is unfair and unacceptable.

Avoid this company at all costs — they only care about collecting your money, not paying your claims.

Don’t buy it!

They sell their policy like you are covered for any reason, but when you file a claim (mine for a tweaked back injury that I called my dr. For a prescription), they make you get your dr.s statement and their certifications. They try and make it so much time/work that you won't do it. Shame on Expedia for promoting such a poor worthless company!

Avoid AIG Travel Insurance at All Costs…

Avoid AIG Travel Insurance at All Costs – A Cautionary Tale
We were stranded for five days in Zurich due to a flight disruption from Zurich to Doha, and AIG flatly refused to settle our travel insurance claim. Their justification? They categorized the disruption under the “WAR” clause—an absurd and evasive excuse. I asked them directly: Who declared war? No answer. Just silence and denial.
Meanwhile, my friend—who had the same travel insurance coverage through ETIQA—received a reimbursement of RM 3,850 within three weeks. ETIQA rightly recognized the incident as a temporary flight disruption, not a war zone.
AIG’s use of the “WAR” clause is a textbook example of how insurers dodge responsibility. It’s not just disappointing—it’s unethical. They twist policy language to avoid payouts, leaving customers stranded and unsupported. In my view, this is white-collar robbery dressed up as corporate policy.
Please, do not buy travel insurance from AIG. They do not stand by their customers when it matters most. Their priority is protecting their bottom line—not you.
