Strange sometimes

I have had some great experiences with AIRBNB. However recently I (living in Cape Town) have tried to book a house in Cape Town for myself and my sister who lives in UK.

I was declined with an explanation from the host that it was not avail for my dates. All the reviews from Airbnb owners that I had spent time in were very good and stated I was a perfect guest. so I was puzzled to see the same property still avail and the next day still avail for the dates I had requested.

I called my sister in UK and asked her to try and book for me. She had no problem being accepted for the very same nights is requested - so the hosts were lying to me.

Maybe for South Africans it is a way if getting Sterling into an offshore account in UK and they don't want to be paid in Rand in SA.

Interesting.

When I write to the host saying your house is still showing avail they did not reply.

Prompt Refund and Correct Response by AirBnB to My Complaint

We booked a 2-week working vacation at "Big room, FREE nightstay at Chi'Lax" in Panajachel, Guatemala, but upon arrival found advertised amenities we'd depended upon were missing. The host Ross was rude and obnoxious, blamed us for being too demanding, fabricated excuses, and refused to issue us a full refund. I notified AirBnB and my credit card company, and after reading poor reviews of AirBnB's services, was amazed at how quickly, effectively, and efficiently AirBnB handled my complaint and processed the refund owed us - in only 3 days after filing our complaint!

It appears most people who are displeased simply didn't correctly register their claim. Perhaps this will help others to successfully get their problems resolved: As soon as a problem is noted and deemed to be irreconcilable with your host, go to your AirBnB Receipt on their site, click Cancel, then select Property Not as Expected, and a Customer Service number will pop-up so you can call and discuss your situation with a real person. They'll then ask you to summarize your complaint in writing. Make sure to document it with photos and include erroneous quotes from the Host's listing.

I was very impressed with AirBnB's handling of our complaint and wouldn't hesitate to use them again - in fact, I have and am now enjoying another wonderful AirBnB stay!

Expect no service.. but you will probably need it!

Long ---> short story:
We booked, host did not responde at all. Contacting Airbnb.. what a nightmare.. no help..
Ended up with a cansellation wich Airbnb totally didn't care about BUT no service fee refunded.. WE DID GET NO SERVICE!
Stay out of trouble.. stay away..! They don't care about you the minut you pay...!

Better way for travelling

a good way to find accomodation when aboard. however you have to read well the reviews before booking.
I have a room for rent in Tunis for 2 years ago and no problem to declere. all my guests where nice and they are happy to my services.
don't try to have expensive renting because you will be disappointed and search well for the good prices and services.
I recommand this website for more than 3 days stay.

A shadow company of questionable ownership...

I registered a room for rent Airbnb and have received guests. This is a shadow company ran by computers with no humans to assume any type of responsibility. VERY DANGEROUS...This is the day (AFTER three weeks that my guest left my house) that they have not paid off. There is no one responsible with whom you can talk to resolve any issue, and least of all, if related to getting paid. If you browse their website, there is not a contact link, nor a contact number. When you do find a number in the internet, the wait is over 20 minutes and then they run through a script of LIES to appease you worries. They charge the person who makes the reservation up front, but dont pay, or delay unnecessarily, the disbursement. So beware, they are scam artists who go unregulated because of some loophole in the law, exposing innocent people to fraud and possibly murder.

AIRBNB RIP OFF

I was booked in with airbnb for 4 weeks in the philippines but had to change it to 2 weeks instead.
So what did airbnb do is take $75 dollars for no reason.
I contacted them and asked for an explanation but have not had a reply its been 4 days now.
Dont deal with this mob have a look at the reviews online and you will see why.
