Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers encountered significant issues with their bookings, often finding that hotels had no record of their reservations upon arrival, despite having paid. People frequently reported difficulties contacting customer service, describing it as unhelpful and unresponsive, with calls often leading to dead ends or unfulfilled promises of resolution. Consumers also expressed frustration with the refund process, noting challenges in securing refunds, even in cases of booking errors or cancellations. Some people were dissatisfied with the payment process, reporting instances of billing discrepancies or errors in reservation details. Though some reviewers found the booking process user-friendly and prices competitive, the majority of people faced problems with their reservations not being honored, leading to unexpected costs and considerable stress.

AVOID – MISLEADING REPRESENTATION AND FAILURE TO PROVIDE BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE

AVOID – MISLEADING REPRESENTATION AND FAILURE TO PROVIDE BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE

This organisation is not worthy of a one‑star rating**.

I reasonably believed I was booking two nights’ accommodation directly with the DoubleTree by Hilton. At no point during the booking journey was it made sufficiently clear that the transaction was being processed via Algotels as a third‑party intermediary.

The presentation of the website gives the clear impression of a direct hotel booking, with the third‑party nature of the transaction obscured by vague references to a “booking fee”. This is, in my view, misleading and lacking in transparency.

I sought to amend my booking from 2 February 2026, which was prior to the stated cut‑off date of 5 February 2026. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this matter via Algotels’ online platform, telephone, and email, no amendment has been actioned and no meaningful assistance has been provided.

I have since verified directly with the hotel that no modification has been made to the booking. As a result, Algotels are retaining payment for one full night’s accommodation to which they are not entitled.
A full refund for one night is therefore owed.

This should be a straightforward administrative matter. Instead, it has been unnecessarily protracted due to a complete failure of customer service, responsiveness, and accountability. The conduct displayed raises serious concerns regarding business practices, transparency, and ethical standards.

The experience has been wholly unsatisfactory. I strongly advise others to avoid Algotels entirely and book directly with the hotel to prevent similar issues.

They take your money but don’t book the room.

I booked a hotel through Algotel about 5 months out, had a confirmed booking, however when I check with the hotel closer to the time they told me there was not booking either in my name or against the reference I was issued.
When reporting my case they fumbled around for 5 days with no feedback one way or the other. Had to cancel my booking but they had £800 of my money for 5 months!!
If I had checked these reviews before I booked I would have found another company.

Hi, we booked a hotel in London as a short break,ok. we later had a death in the family, and the funeral coincided with the hotel booking. Try as we might to change the dates to a more suitable dates, we could not contact algotel however hard we tried. They say your email is being dealt with by there customer service, but the only contact they made was to ask for a copy of the death certificate, “imagine “ Not the sort of company you rush to deal with….

Crooks…

This company is a joke I only give 1 star because I can’t give less. I booked a hotel in one city and was booked in a different city. I have screenshots to prove that I made the reservation for the city I needed and they still refused to make it right and move my booking to the correct city. Because their website doesn’t show the city you book for when you get the first confirmation before you close the browser. The screenshots clearly show the same photo of the city I made the reservation for. They say it’s not proof of any mistakes on their side! Looks like all their reviews on here are poor anyway. Guess they have no desire to try and make themselves look better by fixing their mistakes. Clearly they are just working to steal others money! Steer clear of this company because they are crooks!

Don't let the bed bugs bite!

I will let you come to your own conclusions as I share Algotels response to my being severely bitten by bed bugs at one of their promoted hotels in Portugal:

"Thank you for contacting Algotels.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to secure a refund / compensation since we did not receive a positive response from our relevant team who is also working directly with the hotel.

Weʼre sorry this isnʼt the outcome you were hoping for.'

I provided evidence of a cluster of bites which could only have happened at said hotel, as well as photographic evidence of prescriptions from my local chemist when I returned home (it was only when chemist told me that I knew what the bites were).

Will never use this company again!

No invoice possible

i booked a hotel in Cologne / Germany (NH Hotel Köln Altstadt).

As it was for a business trip i wanted to download afterwards an official invoice as i only received a booking information / recipe in order to use it for tax purposes.

After several (nice) emails with customer service, a friendly 20 minute phone call with the hotline (where i had to call an us-american phone number) they've stated that they are not capable / authorized to generate in theirs system an invoice.

But due to german tax laws you need a real invoice with the customers adress, etc.

So – at the end i cannot settle the bill for tax purposes and i spent more than 200 eur as a "private person".

Do not book with Algotels

Please do not book via Algotels. My experience is similar to all other negative reviews no reservation at the hotel, hotel confirmation that they do not recognise Algotels as a third party booking. Customer complaints are none responsive do not progress complaints to senior management. Had to escalate a refund via raising a dispute with my bank. Would have given a minus review if possible

Booked New Orleans but it got booked in Pennsylvania

I had a very disappointing experience with Algotels. I booked two rooms for the Mardi Gras event in New Orleans, but the reservation was incorrectly made for a hotel in Pennsylvania instead. Thankfully, I noticed the issue immediately and took screenshots of the booking confirmation as proof.

I raised a support ticket right away, and their team assured me the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. However, it has now been over 72 hours, and the problem is still unresolved. Due to this delay, hotels in New Orleans are either completely unavailable or extremely expensive because of the Mardi Gras event.

This error and the lack of timely resolution caused significant inconvenience and stress. I expected much better accuracy and customer support, especially for time-sensitive bookings. I would not recommend Algotels based on this experience.

My experience was good

I have read a lot of bad reviews of Algotels, but my own experience was quite good. I recently cancelled a hotel reservation that was made by Trivago through Algotels. The process was a little cumbersome: I had to call Customer Service, who transferred me to another number, then I had to wait for an email with several cancellation options to choose from. I replied with an election to have my card refunded, and Algotels refunded my card within a day with no further questions asked. Everything worked well as advertised, and the customer service reps I talked to were courteous and knowledgeable, so the experience was good.

They suck!!!

If I could give a half I would give a half star. I booked a room for 1 night in Nashville with my wife, we called to confirm the room with the hotel and the hotel had no clue what we were talking about. I am still trying to get my refund as I type this. So stay away from this company.

Steer clear of booking with Algotels

I wish I had read the reviews first before booking. I went to the Trivago website to look for a hotel at Dubai International Airport. Algotels had a price of around $52 for a room with free cancellation. I booked 2 separate rooms with a free cancellation for both rooms for July 2026. This was made around 27th January 2026 but the money was debited from my account within about 2 days after booking. I contacted them to question why I was charged as I had requested free cancellation, and I haven't had a reply reply from them. This is appalling, as if I wanted to purchase straight away, the cost of the room was cheaper. Not only that, if for some reason I have to vancel rhey womt refund my money. Thats why I paid a higher price to get the free cancellation. This is very dodgy business practice and not a company to trust.

We had an issue with a cancellation...

We had an issue were the booking appeared cancelled in the hotel (we did NOT cancelled it). We spent 7 hours calling insistently to get this solved, I would like to highlight the invaluable assistance of Jazmin and Aliza from the escalation team, without them this issue would have never been resolved.

The waiting time in call is not very long and they are very polite and friendly. But for my specific situation, I had to call multiple times and insisted a lot to get this moving.

Booked Monday for Dubrovnic change at Amsterdam for September NO CONFIRMATION EMAILS RECEIVED - says pay £100 for a confirmation or wait three days. It’s now Thursday. No emails. if I hadn’t taken a screenshot of the final page I wouldn’t even have a booking reference. All moneys taken up front. Algotels say they cancelled the hotel but can not cancel the two flights KLM and Aer Lingus - Trivago says deal with Algotels they can’t help. Although cancelled —all moneys are pending. KlM say they have no record of my booking.
