Truly awful

Truly awful. The recent very cold weather saw burst pipes with water pouring into the bathroom and kitchen. Our house was flooding and we called them out. They arrived very quickly and there was a £50 call out charge. Seems reasonable. Then we were hit with a £765 bill for 15 minutes labour. Yes really! The plumbers themselves were genuine and friendly but this company they work for is obviously only out to exploit people. My elderly mother is now £900 out of pocket and feels cheated. Do not use this company. Ever.

Do not use - RIP OFF outfit

I wish I had read the reviews before calling Alpha Emergency - what a rip-off outfit they are! I definitely WOULD NOT Have called them out, Yes they solved the problem but it cost £600+ called a plumber the day after who inspected and he said the part cost £2.50! I feel like I have been well and truly ripped off. Talk about taking advantage of an emergency - under-statement! They told us we could claim the monies back off our house insurance - NO that was definitely not the case. I was told that the call-out fee was £50 and when I looked at my bank I had been charged £60 - most unimpressed!

I wish I'd checked the reviews first.

I wish I'd checked the reviews first! A total scam. A "plumber" arrived and told me the gas had stopped coming to my building and so he couldn't fix the boiler. But I was still charged £90. I got a proper plumber out the next day who fixed the boiler in 5 minutes just by doing a proper reset. I'm not sure these people are even plumbers. He had a car not a van, with his girlfriend in it parked outside and they couldn't wait to leave to get to the next victim. He didn't even want to try and do the repair.I feel like an idiot! But when you're desperate you get taken advantage of.

SCAM. DO NOT USE.

As far as I can tell, this company is a SCAM. I paid a call out fee upfront on 31st December of £144. Since then I have contacted them by phone and by email numerous times to request the refund be made and they claim the refund has been made and always promise to send 'proof of payment', but never do. And the refund is NOT my account- so make of that what you will.

They came out within 2 hours and…

They came out within 2 hours and successfully completed the job on Boxing Day.
The call out charge was very reasonable at £60 plus vat. However, the plumber only took 20-25 minutes to complete the work with no parts and the fee was £450 plus vat which I think is extortionate! £612 in total including vat.
I was asked to make a bank transfer while the plumber was there and to mark it as a 'personal' payment which like a idiot I did. This was obviously to avoid them paying vat even though I paid it to them. I was also told I would get an invoice emailed with in an hour which 5 days later I still haven't got despite chasing them up.

NEVER USE THIS SERVICE!

Cost £384 for a 2 minute job.

Cost £384 for a 2 minute job.
Lad unblocked the pipe and left after stiffing us £300 plus £84 for call out charge.

Recently moved to Manchester and I'm still learning everything about the city.

Called up after and asked for a break down on these charges because its insane and the guy was so aggressive and rude. Hung up on me and when I called back immediately he didn't want to answer any of my questions, obviously they knew we cottoned on.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

I wish I had checked these reviews before calling them.

Scam

Please do not use this company, they advise a call out charge of £50 and when the plumber turns up and spends 30 mins turning things on and off, they want £305 including call out charge. No parts used, it’s an absolute scam, be careful. Do Not Use!

Do not use this company!

They are deliberately trying to extort money out of you when dealing with an emergency. I've also since found they are using dodgy local numbers run by Voxbone SA who are known for selling numbers to scammers. They are intentionally vague, I was advised of a £70 call out fee it turns out this then had VAT added so £84 was taken from my account. Not clear and transparent pricing as advertised on their site. After the sub contracted plumber took about 20 minutes to sort our boiler and didn't require any materials we were then told the company was charging us £340 due to it being a Sunday. The plumber was clear this was not his hourly rate. I have refused to pay this as it wasn't even going to the plumber who did the work. If this was their minimum charge they should have advised on the phone seeing as they are 'clear and transparent on pricing'. I advised the plumber I would happily pay his hourly rate but in the end he waived his fee to get out of the dispute with alpha-emergency as it had been such a small job. I have requested quotes from other local plumbers since and established this is absolutely not the local rate for an hours labour, even on a Sunday.

I’ve also since found many more negative reviews for a now closed site alphaemergency.co.uk through the Trustpilot search engine.

I would highly recommend speaking to Citizens Advice if you have also fallen prey to this company - they've been incredibly helpful.

Deceptive / possibly a scam.

Paid for a callout (when I could have simply had a free one another day - this wasnt explained to me).

Plumber arrived, spent two minutes looking before saying need to go and get a shower box (what Id called them out for). Could have just asked me over the phone and saved me time and money.

This "callout" cost me 72£.

I asked about costs before he left. They decided they wanted me to pay 295£ for the shower box before the plumber left. Which I stupidly did.

Realised a few mins after the eng left that a shower box shouldnt cost 295£ and that I was going to be paying a fortune for the whole service etc (they were also going to bill for time at 150£ per hour on top of the callout and box costs).

Called to cancel everything and get my 295£ back.

Told to send an email.

Now having to chase a refund, told ill hear from them in 7 working days. Joys!

Maybe I have been stupid - but I strongly suggest you get the precise costs confirmed in writing in advance.

Called out as an emergency but plumber…

Called out as an emergency but plumber arrived couldn’t verify they were gas safe and when I asked to see the number before I would let them start work the owner was very rude. Charged a call out fee despite the website saying there was no call out fee. Expensive mistake to make. Would not recommend at all

Beware of hidden charges and the warranty they promise

We booked an emergency call out with this company. They take a call out fee for £50 but when the electrician comes he asks for an insane price for the job, with hidden charges for materials etc which wasn’t initially mentioned. He fixed the problem and promised a warranty on the job. When i called back with the same problem he said the warranty was not valid more than 48 hours, which was never mentioned initially.
If there an option to give zero stars I would have given that.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would, abysmal, called and advised the lady it was a commercial property, advised not a problem we'll be out 40 mins to 1 hour, get another call and asked if it was a commercial or domestic boiler, advised it was a commercial property but not sure what the boiler was, very rude man advised that they don't deal with commercial boilers and I would have to pay the call out fee of £40, i said I would not be paying a call out fee for them to see if it was a domestic or commercial boiler especially as I had advised the original call handler it was a commercial property, the man then said they couldn't help and to find someone else. disgusting attitude, so glad they didnt come out after reading some of these reviews
