I have repeatedly, over the course of more than two years, informed several Altus staff that we their company is no longer instructed to act on our behalf. They continually fail to follow this simple instruction, keep contacting me and are even trying to invoice me for acting on my behalf when I have explicitly told them not to do so.

Be very careful to keep an eye on what they expect from you contractually. We have been dragged into some mad 7 year contract unwillingly, which we are told may now go on even longer. Now the bills keep coming for past and even future periods of time we were not expecting. Savings made, but much more effective doing some research on how to reduce rates and getting in touch with the council yourself and seek relief and discounts where at all possible.(Our local council representative was extremely helpful)

We had dealings with them a number of years ago to which they concluded they couldn't help us at that time. Fair enough. Then a few years later they start emailing and calling again. The last 4 emails (over a few weeks) I've clicked on the unsubscribe link, checked the right box and submitted, but has it made any difference? No. They keep emailing, well its now spamming because I've informed them I dont want more emails. Am I likely to consider them again in the future? No. If they can't get simple things like that right, why would I consider them with anything more complicated?

Above and Beyond
After being contacted by many firms, we were unsure who to trust to properly examine our company rates. We chose Altus Group and were impressed. We have not secured savings on all of our sites, but our surveyor, Mr Simon Penny, was extremely thorough and has kept us informed of his next moves. He has gone above and beyond to answer our questions and provide us with precise information on our Norfolk properties. He is a credit to Altus Group. Excellent quality of service; I strongly recommend Altus Group for their experience and professionalism.

I have updated my initial review following an extremely prompt and satisfactory call and follow on email with Altus and their Head of Client Experience Faye W.
Faye took the time to hear my concerns, reassured me that she was hear to help and then offered an apology for my stress and an excellent solution which not only involved us getting a partial refund , no more bills but most importantly feedback to the staff involved and assurance that this was a genuine mistake and that lessons had been learnt.
It is so rare to find a company that not only listens to feedback but then acts on it and learns from it moving forward so other companies do not have a negative experiance.
I have kept a copy of my original review for transparency but needless to say am delighted with how my initial concern has been dealt with. Thank you Faye
**INITIAL REVIEW**
If I could give no stars I would. Awful company who talk up their service and then charge for future earnings they say they are saving you. We are a series of Special Educational Needs colleges where we help disadvantaged and vulnerable young adults succeed in life where they have previously fallen out of mainstream education.
We are government funded and have limited resources. I was encouraged to sign up with Altus as they said they could claim back rates on previous years occupation in our current building.
True to form they did indeed claim back our rates to the tune of £125,000. They charged us £90,000 (50% of the fee + VAT equating to 70% of the win fee.)
Nonetheless I was happy to pay. We had still recovered money we should have NEVER had paid to the Local Authority in the first place but it was still a win.
What I was not prepared for is that this fee would be ongoing. Despite the fact we were now rates exempt we still have to pay them 70% of what we WOULD have paid to the local authority.
I feel this is immoral and literally taking money out of young adults care which could be put to better use. Personally i would have prefered to have paid rates and at least we could have had reason to champion Local Authority services.
Did I sign the contract? Yes. Was I desperate? Yes. Is there a termination clause on the clients side of the contract. NO!
What they are doing is immoral and wrong. £75K for what would be surely only be a few days work at most is ample payment.
If you would like to check out our colleges then you can look up SupaJam Education.

Altus reviewed all our Business Rates for our portfolio of buildings (owned and leased). They found three where appeals were lodged and won and significant savings were achieved. A very good result all round.

Its the constant badgering by Altus staff that infuriates me. It has the opposite effect of trying to make me cooperative, I just switch off.
