Cost me 200,000 points and ignored my complaint

applied for an AMEX Business Card first to qualify for a 200,000 Velocity points offer.

AMEX processed my later Explorer Card application first, which made me ineligible for the original offer — entirely due to their own internal handling.

I then lodged a formal complaint. It was never actioned or responded to.

So not only did their process cost me 200,000 points, but they also failed to deal with the complaint at all.

For a premium brand, this is unacceptable. Be very careful — even if you follow the rules, their internal systems and lack of accountability can cost you significantly.

Pure Disgrace - Amex & Microsoft

D-91797117. On going query with Microsoft 365 who have Cleerly billed me twice on one day. £84.99 and £89.99. I have no Microsoft 365 service.
Microsoft avoided contacting me on the phone when they have promised, asked me for time zones, et cetera, but failed callbacks. Their chat is pure nonsense and I’m fobbed off. This happened on the 4th of February. I’ve reached out to AMEX in March only need to be told today that they have closed the case because I have not sent enough information. They have about eight attachments proving exactly what I have said. What is it that they do not understand precisely?
I have now filed a complaint, but this is abominable service and their charges do not reflect their service

Stranded by Amex in New York

Guys … the travel insurance is a sham … do not depend this company to get you home.

We are stranded in New York …. And have been offered a flight home on Saturday instead of yesterday? Amex will not pay for a virgin flight at £450 tomorrow night …. They want to pay 4 days at £200 per day sustenance and accommodation costs rather than pay for us to get home.

This company is completely bonkers and does not care one bit about the people that it has insured. This company will not get you home which is all we want as you can imagine

Someone Help !!!!

Amex Customer Service At It's Worst

Having been a British Airways Amex customer for a very long time, I was shocked and horrified at the Customer Service I received today. I tried registering my Amex card online for a new level of security being offered with the new Digital Amex Card. After being locked out of my account I called the Customer Service line which today was in Manilla, but after 20 minutes of being spoken down to and made to feel like an idiot, I asked to speak to speak to a manager, but was told there wasn't one available, so I was passed to a 'specialist' customer service agent who after a very unhelpful conversation suggested she would
be quite happy to close my account, when I informed her how unhappy I was was with her attitude.
This was Amex at it's worst and its most arrogant with dreadful customer service agents. I sincerely hope the supervisor call, I requested happens, and that Amex wakens up to the fact that we have a choice.

Rip off, & no longer competitive or welcomed.

I have been with AMEX a number of years now when I was tempted by the 5% cash back.It is now 0.5% which is low compared to other cards on the market.Furthermore it is embarrassing when retailers refuse the card.
Tried to cancel the card & was about to do so when I asked them to include my paltry cashback only to be told I would lose it unless I waited until June 2025. Pleased I asked, otherwise they would have taken it.
Greedy & sneaky or what!

Amex the Scammers friend

I purchased two for want of a better description hand held wifi router which the vendor claimed to be free to use but when they arrived it quickly became obvious that it was a scam they needed sim cards which were not included and definitely not free so I tried to message them to complain and got no reply so I turned to my card supplier AMEX and they could not care less there artificial unintelligence just kept asking for more information and refusing my dispute…. I would not recommend anyone use American Express their customer services are totally useless

I have with american express $ 18,000…

I have with american express $ 18,000 available credit and still they expect me to pay $16,900 as a minimum payment . This is insane!
Such a deception. I had amex for 9 years even though its a new gold amex card and they always allowed me to pay one or two percent.
When i made the purchase- I knew I can afford one or two percent and now they charge me 90 percent of my balance

A Terrible AMEX experience

Looked at my card balance had lots of capacity on the card. Same day I went to use my card for some major car repairs and Amex declined the purchase it was thousands of dollars less than my limit. . Immediately I received an email from Amex advising me they lowered my limit. I called them and the customer service rep’s answer was Amex can lower the limits whenever they want and my credit score is not acceptable to them. I checked my credit score and it was good/excellent. A very upsetting experience that was unwarranted.
I have been a client of Amex for 25 years and have never been late paying them. I will never use this company again ever.
Their interest rates are outrageous and their service is not acceptable! It was an absolute terrible experience.
AMEX focused on the wealthy as clients not us regular middle class folks! There are way better cards out there!

Miss sells

One of the draws to Amex is its offers which provides statement credits. How ever beware they often mislead on the offers and very rarely validate these offers. I wouldn’t recommend they often use poor wording and refuse to acknowledge.

Not an international card

I had a BA card with AMEX and took it with me on a two month trip in south east Asia, could only find one merchant that would accept it and that was an airline. Many merchants just laughed when I proffered the card. AMEX charges very high fees to merchants which is why very few will accept AMEX. I also have two other cards from different companies and they do not charge non-sterling fees - AMEX does, but what benefit do they provide? The AMEX card is hardly an international card and frankly too expensive and inflexible. I've got rid of mine and in no way is it possible to rely on it when travelling. I'm sticking with my Visa card which is widely accepted and with none of AMEX's fees.

Avoid Amex CD's

Avoid Amex CD's

There are better rates available at company's with much better service. When I opened my CD five years ago with AMEX, I selected that I wanted all statements and communication via the mail instead of electronically. When my CD matured, the company didn't send the maturity notice until almost two months after the maturity date and the CD auto renewed after just 10 days.

Better companies relock the rate for renewals at the current rate, but AMEX saw an opportunity to lock me into another five years at just 3% when my HYSA was paying almost five. When I contacted them about the problem, they refused to offer any solution. I closed my HYSA and CD, paying the penalties to this less than forthright organization. Stay Away.

Varning! Beware of these conning scammers

Beware of these conning scammers - because that's how I feel after having been a local customer and now lately - their service and ability of keeping track of everything has derailed!
It seems as if nobody knows anything about anything in their customer service.
Can you imagine that you get a customer service call regarding missed monthly fees (after 3 months(!!) and interest that need to be paid for a card that you never received and cannot see in your app system!?

Petty Thieves that do not understand anything about satisfied customers and reputation. I have just cancelled all my card and I will never go back again!
I warn anyone who has ever considered this overhyped company for which their customers are nothing but money launderers for the digital fake money that is replaced with your own hard earned one.

Räkna med randomiserade avgifter/ränta att betala för service som du inte ens visste om att du hade tillgång till. Gör dig själv en björntjänst och vänd till till andra korrserviceföretag än att bli grundlurad av dessa svindlare.
